A-Bomb is The Bomb

When Lavea Alter dropped a folder with some newness from A-Bomb, I didn’t look right away. I had recently shown a few great outfits from A-Bomb and had a long list of to-do outfits. But then, curiosity got the better of me and I tried on this outfit called Ventura Highway and was thrilled to see that Lavea has added the shadows on the skin that clothes naturally cast – a huge step forward in design and one that very few clothiers take the trouble and effort to do. Look along the neckline, the waistline, the edges of the top – this is someone stepping it up several notches. And look at that prim ruffle, is that insanely good or what? What’s even better is the ruffle comes on the chest and the spine so you can wear it as you need it.

Has Digit Darkes Lost Her Mind?

Well, no she hasn’t, but you might if you try to figure out exactly how many combinations of jewels and dresses you can get out of her new Delhi dress.  I didn’t even mess with the jewel color which has a treasure trove of jewel options and only fiddled with the texture change skirt simply because that is such a new innovation and look what happened.

I was cloned!!!  These are the possible shirt texture options on the texture-changing skirt in the Delhi dress – the mustard version. Incidentally, shouldn’t it be called Curry Yellow instead of Mustard Yellow – just because.I am wearing Baiastice’s Querelle shoes in Gold. Digit makes a matching pair of shoes that has matching color change gems, but you know, you give me that many choices and I will be paralyzed by choice.

Catching up with Lorelei

Whippet & Buck's High-waisted skirt allows for fun mixing and matching.

One of the real pleasures of the Double Take project is catching up with old friends with whom I have lost touch. One such person is Lorelei Maggs whom I met when I worked cleaning up prim trash at Vicious and Gidge was my boss. She was also an early client of MDR Studio – though Maht took her pictures, not me. So last night was the first time she was in front of my camera and as soon as I zoomed in I saw she had on some breathtaking jewelry. Surprise, surprise! She had made it. I got a LM and went there immediately after I finished shooting last night and picked up some amazing sets…one of which I put on and decided to add to this outfit.

Nyte'N'Day Take Two

So having established that Nyte’N’Day produces new, current and luxurious styles, let me show you how Nyte’N’Day also rocks. Take for example, this top/minidress called Snap. Now how many people dare put something out in Blaze Orange? Not that many. Nyte has this luscioius and versatile dress out in several colors and also selles a lovely corset that could be paired with it as well. I decided to go a different route, though and grabbed the belts on the the jacket layer from one of Zaara’s old dresses.

Night & Day:::Nyte'N'Day

Raise your hands if you have at least one outfit from Nyte’N’Day? Wow, almost everyone. That’s kind of what I thought. Me, too. I have several outfits from there including the very first purchase I made in Second Life, the Nyte’N’Day Rainment skirt in black.  Dove Swanson of Long Awkward Pose (whose poses I am using in this post) wondered yesterday if its possible that because so many of us identify Nyte’N’Day with our noobish era, that we fail to recognize how current and good the designs are. I think there’s some truth to that.

But that’s cutting us off from some great design because Nyte Caligari has not been just sitting there making the same old thing. Her clothes have evolved and her skills have advanced and her clothes are as exciting as anyone. Take this jacket for example – beautifully made, chic and smart as she linked the collar and belt so that they only take one attachment point. Sure you have to edit the separately to fit your particular torso length – but we all can do that. Continue reading

Whippet & Buck

Some stores have names that just sound like they are fated to offer outstanding quality and succeed – to be the stores that become the clothiers of generations. Well, clothing generations of Second Life residents might be an outsized ambition, but Whippet & Buck have the name, and most importantly, they have the quality. The name makes me think of England and John Robert Cozens and all those country fashions of investment dressing – the dress that is timeless and is worn for decades. Well, they seem to have that idea in mind themselves as their forms are timeless and classic, such as this magnificent pencil dress and crop jacket.

I ♥ Pixel Dolls

I ♥ Pixel Dolls. They were one of the first stores of my Second Life and one where I spent many of my hard-earned lindens. Believe me, when you get paid 300L/week for clearing prim trash at a mall, you earn it and every purchase is long-considered, and Pixel Dolls earned a warm spot with its reasonable cost, many layers and fabulous fat packs. This outfit, Leonides, is just a perfect example of why they are wonderful. It is flexible, can be worn multiple ways and can be worn as separates with other clothing. No wonder I and many, many others ♥ Pixel Dolls.

Summer Nights

When you want to dress up for those hot summer night, sometimes the freshness of icy colors like silver and ice blue can make you feel just a tiny bit cooler. Sure, it’s all in your head, but so is everything else in life.  This Pixel Dolls Limelight corset in silver looks almost like I am wearing ice and that could give you just a little shiver of cool feeling.  The ice blue skirt is from LeeZu and is icier than you think. The Skyline necklace and earrings have an icy look, too. These are from a store I discovered on a hunt – ci:di

Summer Days

Summer dresses are like summer days, bright and cheerful and full of light and air. This Holly dress from Kungler’s is definitely a perfect summer dress. It was a gift from Barbra Kungler – a thank you for including her in my Double Take project. How lovely is that, she was posing as a favor for me and I got a present out of it – and a lovely present as you can see.

A Whole Lotta Olé

When I put on the wonderful flamenco-inspired dress Aibell from StoRin I fell in love with the skirt and its lovely form and structure. Flamenco made me think of Spain and of course of the magnificent traje de lus that a torero would wear in the bull ring. I had just the thing, an outfit from Bare@Rose that was typical Bare@Rose – complete and detailed and perfect from head to toe. Putting the two together seemed inevitable.
