Not Your Typical Skin Flick

posted by Gidge Uriza

I’ve discovered a new shop to love, thanks to this excellent review pack I was sent from Skin Ficks. My first instinct was, upon hearing the name, that the clothes would be of the SL Hooker-Blingtard variety and I’d throw them out.

I couldn’t have been more wrong. Continue reading

Who Needs Another Prim Skirt and Tank Top Combo?

posted by Gidge Uriza

Well…….I do.

Casual wear in our world consists of pants and tops or skirts and tops – just like RL. So yeah, it can get tiresome to see tank after tank after tank paired with this or that. Which is where patterns and textures come in so nicely.

For me, this ensemble at SHAMELESS was an easy sell, the skirt is simple and unobtrusive (prims skirts have to be eye-catchingly brilliant or very simple in my opinion) and the top is a fun print. Continue reading

OH! The Schadenfreude!

posted by Gidge Uriza

Schadenfreude is one of those shops I’ve heard about for quite some time but never managed to remember to check out. It just so happened recently that I wandered into the shop while the owner was there (she was very sweet for one of the undead – or fashionably zombified or whatever she was, she was cute!) and I enjoyed getting to talk to her about her designs. While there, I fell in LOVE with these chunky purple shoes. Continue reading

Detroit Rha!-ck City

First I Drink…….

Then I Smoke……

Yeah, I’m in a KISS mood. That quote was for all you 40 year old guys pretending to be 25 year old guys.  Or pretending to be girls. Your Mom doesn’t like what you’ve done to her basement.

But I digress.

I recently got the opportunity to meet and visit with Rhaorth from RHA! designs while we were shopping at Zaara.  She was talking to someone else when I got there, about fashion bloggers etc…….and you know me. Continue reading

Green is my favorite color

Green is my favorite color – always has been. Like brown and blue, it’s one of the ubiquitous colors of nature – those colors we humans see the most of. Blue skies, brown earth and green grass and trees – the colors of when the world is right and everything is in its place. Green is the color of plenty – of coming harvests, of ample rainfall – in essence, the color of survival. With all of nature bending toward loving green, how can I argue? Continue reading

Puff Goes the Prim Skirt

Yes, another day and an other Gala skin. This is Emerald with vibrant green shadow and luscious red lips. Thankfully there’s enough yellow to the green to make it not look like Christmas meets Face and to make it a good complement to the dress from ALB Dream Fashion. That dress, after the cut, is made with a wonderful puff of a skirt that is so modern in sensibility in contrast to the somewhat retro fabric pattern.

Irresistible Peacocks

What’s riches to him
That has made a great peacock
With the pride of his eye?

Lemania Indigo has artistic riches piles up high, because as Yeats said, she made a great peacock with pride. Oh, I did not need this dress. I was not looking for another gown, but the moment I saw it all Linden sense went out the window. Gotta have it!!! and then I clicked buy and was shocked, even stunned. Because this lovely creation was a mere 200 lindens. In fact, in that store packed with great designs paying homage to Hollywood’s best and brightest, 200 linden was the highest price of any of the lovely gowns I looked at.

Now normally, I don’t talk about the cost of dresses. We know the hours of work that can go into a new outfit. We know that it’s not just the perspiration, but also the inspiration. Even if many of us actually knew what we were doing, that does not automatically mean we could create something lovely, new and unique. So I don’t begrudge creators who ask a decent return on their time. But like anyone, when I find a tremendous value like this, it’s simply irresistible. I had so much fun shooting this dress my Flickr is packed with more than a dozen photos. Even shooting pics was irresistible.

After the cut, there’s a shot of the back and a full-length photo, plus style notes.
