We Should Be Dancing

We should be dancing…and we will be tonight at MDR Photo Studio, a bash to celebrate our first six months. To celebrate, we will be giving away four photo sessions to lucky guests. Since I won’t have much time to get ready before the party, I thought I would choose my outfit this morning and decided to go with a few things I love.  For as many times as they have appeared in one color or another, regular readers know I love, luv, lurve the Trixie Cami from Celestial Studios. Feeling in the pink, so to speak, I chose the pink one, Smooch. Continue reading

Glam Tank Cubed

AM Radio does such amazing builds: Far Away, the temporary Refuge and Prospect, The Quiet and Tusk. I have been wanting to shoot something at Tusk for a while and decided to put an outfit together with the colors of the desert. When I bought this new tank from MichaMi, I knew it would be the base for an outfit to shoot at Tusk.

Milla Michinaga, whose fashion blog was an inspiration for It’s Only Fashion, has become a content creator, opening her new store MichaMi on Rue d’Antibes. The content is spare, but excellently made and focuses on wardrobe foundation pieces such as this Glam Tank in Gold. It’s beautifully made and at 50L, you can get one in every color. I thought that a brown skirt would do well with it and pulled out this wonderful Tiered Skirt from Ce Cubic Effect, a sculpted skirt that keeps its form when you sit or lie down. To top it off, I used the jacket layer belt from Zaara’s Calungate Orange dress. I knew those belts would come in handy.

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

Fridays I go painting in the Louvre.
I’m bound to be proposing on a Saturday night
There he goes again.
I’ll be lazing on a Sunday lazing on a Sunday
Lazing on a Sunday afternoon………………Freddie Mercury

When I got dressed this morning, that song popped into my head. After battling ghost prims last night, I felt I deserved a good lazy day. For you non-lazers out there, lazing is not something you can just do on a whim. It’s an art form and requires mental discipline and proper clothing and equipment. First, you must discipline your mind to ignore unsorted mail, clothes wrinkling in the dryer, cat hair on the carpet and other distractions from a good laze. For equipment, you need some snacks and out of the can food so you can get in and out of the kitchen in two minutes or less – lest you slip and put away some dry dishes or wipe down the counter. Most importantly, you need the right clothes. Comfy, non-binding clothing that let’s you loll around on the couch, the floor, the grass, whither you wander. More importantly, the clothing cannot be too bright and cheery – bright and cheery colors pep you up and pep and lazing are incompatible. Not everyone can do it, but if you approach it with discipline, the proper uniform and a good mental attitude, you too could be lazing on a Sunday afternoon. Continue reading

Collars & Carrouels

I wish I knew the meaning of the word carrouel – the name of these wonderful sculpted pants from Ce Cubic Effect – so I would know whether my blog title made any sense whatsoever. They are lovely and functional sculpted pants that keep their form while you walk and while you dance. They also come with a dramatic flowing belt scarf. The drama and flair of the pants called out for something equally dramatic to balance them and so I opted for wearing Bianca Foulon’s marvelous Black Collar. Shai Delacroix’s well textured and understated cashmere sweater make a great foil for the more dramatic elements in the outfit. Continue reading

Luv Chocolate

Wandering the forest last night, this wonderful chocolate sculptie jacket tossed on top of a melon cami kept me comfortably warm. Brown is a hot trend this spring – a popular neutral and with the popularity of tribal prints it’s finding its way into nearly every wardrobe. Some people jokingly say brown is the new black.

Well, I would like to argue for brown being the new black and the old black. It’s a softer tone, less hard, less stark and much more flattering against your skin. When choosing a top to wear with this chocolate skirt and sweater, I tried on pink, blue, yellow, cream, black and melon. I went with the melon, but I could have easily worn any of the other colors. Better yet, those colors next to brown look richer than when they are next to black. Next to black, they will look brighter – and be less flattering and look cheaper. So, what are you waiting for? Get some chocolate in your life.

Sarrouel

pants

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Meh! I loved the pants more in the store than when I got them home. But, you know what, I will love them again the next time I wear them because now everything fits. CeCubic has wonderful, innovative clothing – prim clothing like no other. I applaud their creativity and genius and I have a lot of their work.

I have one overriding complaint that puts me off, though. Every outfit I have purchased has required too much time fitting  – often 30 to 40 minutes. The prim pieces are sold in such small sizes as to be unworkable. I am not outsized at all. In fact, in many situations, I am the shortest in the room as I don’t strive for model height…so the one thing I don’t expect is to put on a belt that is less than half the size of my waist. Thankfully, it’s a modifiable so eventually everything fits and then I can enjoy the design and the flair these clothes bring. But….I should not have to work that hard.
