No, I didn’t flunk math, but in this case, take 1 lovely bra and 1 lovely corset and put them together and you get 1 lovely top. The corset is from A Piece of Candy and has such a beautifully intricate fabric – reminding me of Frank Lloyd Wright’s stained glass windows, actually. I really loved the fabric and wanted to show it off, but wanted some straps and frankly, the plain edged top of it just needed a bit of boost. So, trying on some bras that would be just a bit higher to give it an edge, I put on this lovely Casa del Shai bra with a bit of pink lace to pick up the pink in the fabric and I knew I had what I wanted.

The Best of Second Life
There’s nothing more amazing, thrilling and exciting about Second Life than the way folks pull together to help others. Whether on the small scale like with a microproject like the Have a Heart Campaign or the massive fundraising juggernaut of the Relay For Life, Second Life residents have stepped up to help time and again. Some of that is the way it fosters international connections. When some disaster happens on the opposite side of the globe, we know people who are there and affected by it. From brushfires to earthquakes to typhoons, SL residents have each other’s backs. I received a message from Shai Delacroix that she had set up a Red Cross donation box at her store for relief for the people displaced by the flooding from the typhoon this weekend. I popped over to make a donation and a constant stream of people were coming in to do the same.
Shai is just one of many SL residents from the Phillipines whose friends and family are affected by this typhoon. She spents hours standing by the donation box last night so she could personally thank people. She is also donating 50% of her sales to direct relief so you can dress up in beautiful gowns like the one I am wearing and also help the relief effort. We chatted for a bit and I wandered over to look for a gown to shoot for this blog post…so the fashion is after the cut.
Yummy Yummy Yummy, Love That Tummy
When I put on this lovely little number from Casa del Shai, the first thing I noticed is that little mole next to the navel on this gorgeous PXL Creations skin. Yummy! It was so yummy I changed the lyrics to the Herman’s Hermits song. Love that tummy!!
I also love how beautifully the Bdreams dress named Puppy (no idea why) works over the Casa del Shai lingerie. And doesn’t that makeup make a lovely, sultry face?
Golden Girl
Choosing something to wear while shooting a million hairstyles, I wanted a dress that would not interfere with the hair. No collars, ruffles or puffs – no prims, no sculpties. I wanted it to be relatively low cut as that tends to flatter most hair styles and really simple so it wouldn’t look odd with vastly different styles of hair. This dress pretty much fit the bill though it was a stretch for a few of the hats and fantasy hairs. It’s a lovely simple dress from Casa del Shai and really proved how flexible it is.
Jackie & The Shrimp
AvaGardner Kungler passed me a pair of dresses yesterday, both called Jackie. The black one is above and I am certain I need not identify who inspired the dresses. I love that era’s clothing with the simple elegance typified by Jackie Kennedy. I tried on the the black dress first, loved it and shot the photos for the blog before trying on the second – the Jackie Red which came as a surprise to be because although it was the same cut and style, it was a print – a fabulous pop print that immediately made me want to shoot it too. Not wanting to do the exact same thing twice, I decided to shoot a remix and post them together.
The skirt is from the original Kunglers Jackie dress. I added a sweater from Fleur and a belt from Ornamental Life. Jean Shrimpton was the super-model of the early 60’s. In face, she might rightfully be considered the first international SuperModel – preceding Twiggy by a few years. She was the face of pop fashion and so I decided to style this more for Jean Shrimpton – the Shrimp.
Biker Chic
It’s a good thing you don’t have to prove your biker credentials before getting a biker jacket as I would never qualify. That doesn’t keep me from enjoying the hint of rebellion and danger evoked by the always-flattering jacket. And when the jacket is as beautifully made as this one from Mashooka, well it’s nearly irresistible.
Prim Fringe Rocks My World
This fun and creative pink halter to with prim fringe is one of many special items available at Hope Valley created to raise money to fund breast cancer research. BOOM – where you can find this and a man’s I <3 Boobies shirt is only one of the many stores selling special items. Others are The Sea Hole, Naith Smit Designs, Republica, *BOOM*, Diamond Photography, .tga swimwear, Gigi Couture, Aden, and Meya. I recall from a group notice that Meya also has a free “Luck of the Irish” pose over at their Hope Valley store as well – if you can find it. So tonight or tomorrow, you should head on over to Hope Valley and check things out. The Hope Valley fundraiser ends tomorrow, so get on over there.
Catch Me In the Slipstream
Today I am wearing clothes from some of the best design houses in Second Life – Casa del Shai, Maitreya and Tesla – and it shows. It’s gold, babe.
Some people never recognise it
Though it’s right before their eyes
And shines in all its glory
They never ever see
They choose something that looks just like it
And it may glitter all the time
But gold it will never be
I guess you never held on to quality
Or you woulda recognised by now
Something so special so true
When it’s standing right in front of you
I’m gold babe
Catch me in the slipstream
Passing by the fools who just don’t know
Pure gold babe
You’re looking at the real thing
If you knew my worth you wouldn’t let go.
Let Efe Rock You, Chaka Khan

I’m clearly on a Diva Kick. I told Cajsa I was dressing up as Patti LaBelle but I must’ve been LISTENING to Patti but thinking Chaka because this girl obviously sings for Rufus.
I swear to GOD I saw her in this dress on You Tube.
Who knew Chaka Khan shopped at Casa del Shai? Continue reading
Big Wheel Keep On Turnin'……..3 Stories about Efe
posted by Gidge Uriza
I have three stories all related to this post. The first is that from the moment I saw this dress from Casa del Shai, I HAD to have it and dress up like Tina Turner. Why?
First Story:
When I was three my grandma asked me who was going to be for Halloween. I said I wanted to be that lady in the red dress. She smiled down at me indulgently and said,”Who?” So I said “You know – dat lady that SINGS and dances around in that red dress!” Again, thinking I’m so cute, she says “Who honey?” At which point I apparently started shaking and shimmying and belting out a three year old’s version of PROUD MARY.
Yes, I wanted to be Tina Turner. You can imagine how well that went over in a conservative, white-bread midwestern household. Personally I wish we had it on tape.
Story 2 Continue reading
