Perquisites

Blogging has many perquisites, or perks, that we try to make as transparent as possible so our readers know what may or may not influence us. I had to use the word perquisites instead of the usual perks just because 10 dollar words drive Tenshi crazy. And who can resist the opportunity?  Among the perks are occasional promotional copies, advance notice of some releases and even seeing and having an opportunity to give opinions on items in the process of creation. One perk not often mentioned is the occasional discovery of new stores and talents that come about as a result of a designer knocking on my IM window and saying I am sending you a couple items and hope you will look at them.  And that happened this weekend when Nikki Herron of G&N Quality Design sent me a couple folders, including this freebie that she has on offer for this week only.  I was immediately impressed by the quality of the textures – and the bold sweep of the top. I really love the attention taken with the wrinkles, the weave of the fabric and the weave in the capris.

B-Girls

No, we’re not going to start popping and locking and dancing hip hop. The B is in reference to Blowpop and Baiastice – two of our fashion addictions. Both Gidge and I are wearing blowpop skins and then new Group gift from Baiastice – a gold, silver and white short cocktail dress that we each mashed up in different directions.

It's E! For Excellent

This photo is from one of my favorite places in Portland, the wonderful Chinese Garden in Old Town. It’s only a city block, but it takes you out of the city. It reminds me of a sim in its discrete containment of such rich beauty in the heart of one of Portland’s grittier neighborhoods. For my visit, I wore some fab items from E! – the exclamation point is theirs but they deserve it.

Bandana Day With the Sexiest Swimsuit in Second Life

So reading the newest issue of Sxy2nd I see that readers voted and chose a swimsuit from JustB as the Sexiest Swimsuit in Second Life. I definitely had to check that out. The suit in the photo was white, but I chose the red for my bandana day outfit because, hey, it’s the 4th of July tomorrow.  You are not seeing the sexiest option, that is after the cut and still discreetly photographed…you know me. I had some running around to do, so I covered up a bit with some other super sexy clothes from Exodi.

If you were paying attention last week, you would have popped over to Exodi for the 50% off sale in which 100% of proceeds were to be donated to Make A Wish Foundation in Michael Jackson’s memory. The total raised was 812.99  which is very exciting. While the sale was on, I ran over and picked up just about all the tops she has.

Who's a Groovy Girl?

posted by Gidge Uriza

This is my only mystery hair from the Hair Fair. I shot this a while back, and then forgot it’s name. I spent days hunting for it – looking through all Cajsa’s pics and I just couldn’t figure it out! WHAT IS IT I shrieked to the heavans. No one answered. And then searching in my inventory last night I found it – it was a FREEBIE at the Hair Fair from Groovy Girl! Continue reading

Three Cheers For The Red White And Blue!

posted by Gidge Uriza

I know I know, I WORE you out last year with nothing but red, white and blue the week before July 4. I’m letting you OFF the hook this year with a minimal invasion of Patriotica.

But you didn’t think you’d get away Scot-free did you? I have to look up that phrase! Scott free, scott-free, scot-free – I have no idea. It’s probably some sort of slur even – but they’re my people so I feel free to dog them 🙂

BACK TO MY TOPIC! July 4….putting it to the British Empire – Continental Army style………….We The People…………..

Well, it’s like this. There has been more than a bit of brouhaha this year about the wearing of the flag and while I don’t mind wearing stars and stripes prints I don’t care for wearing ACTUAL flags (which, I note IS NOT THE SAME)……..regardless…….to avoid the drama I opted to salute Old Glory and this important day IN Red White and Blue colors.

The pants and top are from the beauties at AXEL and are a super pick up any time of year. They come in a variety of colors but these holiday colors are perfect, aren’t they?

But now, the finishing touch – the JEWELRY! YAY EarthStones has once again created beautiful July 4 Jewelry! Last year the jewelry was amazing and once again Abraxxa has created lovelies PLUS SHOES! Wheee! Continue reading

Rebel Child

So Tenshi Vielle of Boutique (this is a new name) recently dropped this outfit on me and I had to share it because I love the fabrics.

So Tenshi Vielle of Boutique (Note: That’s a new name.) recently dropped this outfit on me and I had to share it because I love the lovely prints in the dress and the insouciant mix of contrasting prints. Putting it all together with the hat and jewelry that came with – I could not help but think of that tremendously earthy and powerful singer Gretchen Wilson and her song Rebel Child.

Fabrics

When I first saw this dress at KA Designs I knew it was a must have because it reminded me so much of a dress my older sister had, one of my favorites. She’s enough older than me to have lots of cool retro dresses that she saved and one was very similar to this except it had capped sleeves and a brown sash waist. It was made with a blended wool challis that was so soft to the touch – imagine blending flannel pajamas with silk and you would get the approximate feeling of how soft and “pettable” this dress was. I am sure that is what explained the sly smile when she said is was her “best date dress.”

Dorothy Day

I cannot resist hair named after a real life hero – and most particularly I cannot resist hair named after a real life hero that is as gorgeous as this. I put it together with a practical outfit that the real Dorothy Day would have felt comfortable wearing.  She may have been a reformer, an activist, a world-changer, but she also was a beautiful woman. The foundation for this look is the perfectly lovely and stunningly executed Anoorea skirt from MichaMi.  I dithered over what jacket to wear, and chose the one from TOSL for it’s chunky, handknit homemade look.  That had me looking for a lilac shirt and this one from Zaara was made to order.

I Got Your Wasabi Pills Right Here

posted by Gidge Uriza

Stylized and festive hair is what you can find at Wasabi Pills but no matter the fact that I always saw fashionistas sporting fun looks by them, I never got around to checking them out. I was so excited to see them at the hair fair and delighted that they dropped a few samples on me to check out their work.

Totally cheeky fun. Continue reading
