You Had Me At Skittlepop Princess

posted by Gidge Uriza

Helena Stringer of the Stringer Mausoleum clearly knew that while I MIGHT be able to pass up Skittles, that skittles + princess + purple hair would end up being irresistible to me.  It was a must buy for me the second I saw it a preview of it and frankly I had FORGOTTEN it though- until I ran into it at the Hair Fair.

WOOOHOOO…….Purple Hair with Candy in it. Color me delighted. Continue reading

Thanks, Thalia!

I love Thalia Jie’s sense of style – ever since the first time I met her at last year’s Something Fair/Expo and she said “I love your hair,” and when I looked at her, she was wearing the same hair. The other day I saw her style an dress by Patrizia Blessed on MAD Image that had me scrambling to check out the store. Not only did I find an array of arresting dresses, but that’s also where I found the baby doll in the last post. The store is full of fabulous and original dresses and gowns. I love this gold and black number.

The Hair I Bought Bcse of GOGO!

posted by Gidge Uriza

First of all can I say that I clearly have a symbiotic relationship with House of London because I was getting dressed and wishing I had kind of a washed out retro-styled print tee to wear while out and about…………..

and POOF one was dropped on me as a group gift. Pink Outfitters is UNBELIEVABLY generous in dropping one color of their new releases from time to time.

Now I really have to pop over there tonight and see WHAT ELSE is new!  Continue reading

Do You Dare?

Chance Greatrex of DARE makes some amazing poses. He doesn’t have a vast inventory, but instead has created some very specialized poses such as those recreating the art of Richard Longo or these editorial poses from high fashion photographers.  They are particularly difficult poses to make and still successfully avoid strange torsions and ugly twisting of the mesh, but he manages to make it work.

When I saw this baby doll nightie at Ardigraf Design Group, I decided that it would be a fun outfit to use for a shoot using his editorial poses since it is too sheer and skimpy to hide pose failures.  Besides, I have no idea how many times someone has asked if I knew where to find a nightie…and now at long last, I do.

It happens that posemaker Chance Greatrex posed for my Double Take project as well.

Serendipity

While at the Fantasay Faire this weekend  I saw a notice that Rfyre has a 100L sale back at the store. I had not been there for a long time so decided to go there later. So, off I went and found that Raven Pennyfeather of Rfyre has started a line of high fashion clothing called RP Couture. What really stunned me, though, was this dress – a near perfect replica of my mother’s wedding dress. Only with close examination could I find differences such as my mother’s gloves did not have ruffles at the top and the sculpted shoulders on her dress were rounder. It threw me for a loop but also into a really hunt to find the other elements needed to recreate her look that long ago 20th of June when she married my father.

Eponymous Me!

The Cajsa Suit comes with a black wide belt, however, I wanted the bright orange pop of this M*A*ii*K*I belt to counterbalance the necklace.

So, more in jest than in than anything, I have occasionally whined that with a name like Cajsa, I will never get anything named after me. After all, who would no know to pronounce it. Well, Leah McCullough of NAIVE did a cannonball into the pool and created the suit I am wearing above and named it Cajsa. Yes, I now have eponymous clothing!! So, here’s the tutorial so you can run to NAIVE and pick up the Cajsa Suit in blue (shown), pink, gray or black. The first syllable is pronounced CAI as in Cairo and the second is pronounced ZHA as in Asia. No excuses now, so off you get to NAIVE. Meanwhile, I am going to jam to James Brown:

I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would, now
So good, so good, I got you

Whoa! I feel nice, like sugar and spice
I feel nice, like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

A Midsummer Night

MDR Photo Studio had their first party under the new management of Arcadia Nightfire and Rhodesy Durant and it was a hit. There were so many people there and folks had a great time. It was the second MDR Midsummer Night party and most folks dressed in fairy costumes. Even Gidge’s husband Silo found wings for his robot avatar that were perfect. I headed to the Fantasy Faire figuring why not support RFL while looking for my costume.  Fancy Fairy was perfect and that’s where I found this lovely dress and wings.

Perfect Harmony

When I went to Nomine last week, I was blown away by the clothing, but nothing struck me so much as this dress called Mira. It is as sexy as they come with the outrageously low back, the sheer bodice made wearable only by stripes of sequins and the form-fitting lushness of it it. To match it for wild romanticism, I wore the Akili hair from Damselfly. I shot several photos of this outfit for my Hair Fair Contest entries because of that wild extravagance.

A Whole Lotta Olé

When I put on the wonderful flamenco-inspired dress Aibell from StoRin I fell in love with the skirt and its lovely form and structure. Flamenco made me think of Spain and of course of the magnificent traje de lus that a torero would wear in the bull ring. I had just the thing, an outfit from Bare@Rose that was typical Bare@Rose – complete and detailed and perfect from head to toe. Putting the two together seemed inevitable.
