More Love for Zaara

How could I not fall in love with this scarf from the incomparable Zaara? First, it’s peach and that shade of peach that flatters every skin tone in the world.  Yes, there are colors that do flatter every skin tone with no reference to winter, spring, summer or fall.  They are mid-tones, neither too warm nor too cool and include eggplant, teal, true red and peach/rose.  To see how well peach works on all skin tones, you can see  15 women in peach here.

I <3 Zaara

I love scarves, love them with a passion. My closet is full of scarves from Russian wedding ring scarves to color Indian scarves, from vibrant Pucci silks to glorious handpainted Japanese scarves and everything in between. In fact, I love scarves so much I invented a way to store them so they are easily accessible and don’t get a scrunchy and wrinkled. I hung two curtain rods in my closet, one six inches above the other, and put about 100 round shower curtain rings on each one. I hang my scarves by looping them through the rings so they are all visible, neat and easy to select when I dress in the morning. So, when Zaara released her wonderful Pashmina scarves I was in heaven. Continue reading

How much lace can one dress hold?

It’s a tough question and ably answered by Iota Ultsch of Tres Jolie in this marvelous dress of Guipure lace with the eponymous name Guipure.  I love the beautifully balanced handdrawn lace textures in the bodice, glitch pants and skirt. This dress is all lace from top to toe.

Wallflower………NEVER

Sometimes I buy impractical things that I do not need for any reason.

Such as dresses composed entirely of sequins. I gotta confess when I saw this dress at Dolly Rock I truly had to run over and pick it up. It’s just such an OUT THERE dress…….cut down to THERE…..tight all around THERE…….with fun photosourced sequin texturing all over. Continue reading

Minnetonka Mocs

When I saw these moccasins at Sixty-Nine I was immediately reminded of my childhood and the wondrous Minnetonka Moccasins that were ubiquitous at every Minnesota tourist attraction in the state.  I coveted a pair so much, but my parents would never spring for something so impractical and so I never had a pair of moccasins. Until yesterday when I stopped at Sixty-Nine and saw these and bought my first moccasins ever. They are every bit as comfortable as I imagined.  I also immediately googled Minnetonka and lo, they are still making moccasins and I can get a pair like these for $75 so I just might be getting myself moccasins for a Christmas present in real life too. Though my inner practical self says no.

Kinetic Energy

Gidge and I received some fsahion blog review goodness from Digit Darkes and because Sasy, the Addictive factotum, is a super thoughful sort of factotum, she knows our color tastes and always sends us different colors. So, there’s Gidge in sunset and me in forest.

Digit Darkes is a bold, fearless designer who never hesitates to mix prints, to use bold colors and to go all out and wild. This time she went super-wild with a prim skirt that is lit from within. I admit, I had my doubts when I first put it on, but then I don’t wear bling. However, this doesn’t have the feel of bling…and I think because it’s very kinetic and never static, rather than overwhelming, it’s just eye-catchingly beautiful.

MDR: One Year Old

MDR Photo Studio was one year old yesterday – and we will be celebrating that milestone with a big party on Friday night at 6:30 PM SLT. In that year we have grown from 1024 sm of ocean in Glookbone to a full sim with our studio and a photo park. The photo above was shot on the beach at MDR where there are a couple of those wonderful wooden boats and rocks from Las Islas filled with beachy animations.  I am not wearing the beachiest clothes, but Skin Flicks jacket is, despite its upscale fabric, completely wash and wear, so no worries.

Pretty in Pinky

Posted by Gidge Uriza – FYI this is a review – but I can’t get the review logo to post!

When rifling through my new PXL Linda skins I found, to my delight, at the bottom of the group some skins with fun pink and purple tones. I immediately wanted to wear something light and summery and pulled out this dress from BINGO that I forgot I picked up. Continue reading

Nevermore

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I wandered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and impossible in real life store.
Suddenly there came a flapping, flocks of birds madly flapping
Magpies, and parakeets and ravens flapping, landing at a Tableau store
Paper Couture’s fall collection, Only this, and nothing more.

Well, that’s a lot of effort for such a poor result and the original is so much more congenial. However, I confess the temptation was irresistable considering the stole I am wearing is from The Raven by Paper Couture.
