Just a reminder that there is a directory of SLurls for one and all to use and to ask some of the 80 plus people who have signed up as administrators to jump in organizing the links into smaller directories.  Second Life fashion retailers, bloggers, magazines and model agencies are encouraged to list their information.

For bloggers: you can link to SLURLS or just copy and paste the information into your own blog. This is purely a community resource, so use it as you like.

For everyone: When you discover some link is out of date, please post the correct info in comments.

A Whole Lotta Olé

When I put on the wonderful flamenco-inspired dress Aibell from StoRin I fell in love with the skirt and its lovely form and structure. Flamenco made me think of Spain and of course of the magnificent traje de lus that a torero would wear in the bull ring. I had just the thing, an outfit from Bare@Rose that was typical Bare@Rose – complete and detailed and perfect from head to toe. Putting the two together seemed inevitable.

Bold in Baiastice

I always love a good system skirt like the one with this dress from Baiastice. Sadly, many women avoid them becuase they don’t know how to adjust their shape so they think system skirts give them balloon butts. Well, technically, I guess system skirts do give you balloon butt, but if you shrink your butt before hand, it’s no biggie. I want to mention this because there’s a great tutorial over at What the Fug? If you avoid system skirts because of butt balloonery, head over there right now!!

Peaches & Cream

If you have been reading my blog for any significant length of time, you know I am a peach-a-holic.  Peach, coral, salmon just are irresistible colors for me. And why not? They look good with every skin tone and flatter everyone in 1st and 2nd life.  So, when I  went over to check out Stylissimo – after falling in love with the blogger appreciation gifts they sent – and saw some peach in a vendor, well that works like a homing device with a built-in buy button.

NomNomNom

So, by the time I signed on last night I was already late for the masquerade party so it was either go as I was or go even later in a costume, so I went with what I was wearing. All the men were dashing and all the women were dazzlings or so I imagine as they all stayed as vapor for me. What rezzed was the food and I took that as a I sign and grabbed a spoon and ate my way through the party.

Peachy-Keen

Beauty Avatar’s Blogger Appreciation gift came in one of my favorite colors – peach. Such a wise choice as it’s one of the colors that suit any complexion and so would look good on all the bloggers who received it. Though to doubly assure that, they tossed in a lovely peachy skin of their own.

Photo Contests and Me

I have a love hate relationship with photo contests with emphasis on the latter. Mainly I love to look at the winners and hate to do them. More accurately, they make me mad at myself. Because however many times I think I will do one, I procrastinate and forget it and then remember it the day they announce the winners. However, there’s a photo contest ending Friday that did inspire me to enter…this will actually be the third contest I will have ever entered despite a two-year stint as a photographer. As I said, I generally remember the contest the day they announce the winners. The main reason I am inspired to do this contest is that the designer is a good friend of mine with whom I have spent hours giggling. Add to the that the  recognition that the dress is smoking hot.  From Tres Jolie, this is L’Amour Ultra-Mini.

Designer Showcase Network, Part 2

Here is another example of the Designer Showcase Network at work – reminding me of a store I already know and showing me something new. It’s been a few months since I have visited Elate and this item from the  Designer Showcase Network reminded me that I like Elate’s design sensibility and inventiveness.  Most of what I have seen from there has been brighter than this subtle and reflective skirt and blouse – and seeing this new mood in Elate’s designs is exciting.  This morning’s example was the DSN introducing me to a completely new designer, this afternoon nudging my memory and showing a different side of a known store. I look forward to the growth and expansion of the DSN and don’t forget to check out the web site because it explains the effort made to make sure designers all reach the same number of people and that participants receive new items, from different stores. Designer Showcase Network

I love those people who see recurring issues and debates like the freebie debate – all heat and no light – that recycle frequently without resolution and instead of adding their two cents, sit back and break the problem down and proactively search for an alternative. Rika Watanabe is just that sort of person. She looked at the whole freebie/hunt/entitlement/hoohah/blah/blah and proposed a solution – The Designer Showcase Network. You can subscribe any of the nine channels that interest you and receive a daily promotional item from a designer producing work in that channel. The channels are Animations and Poses, Business Tools and Services, Female Fashion, Gadgets, Vehicles and Weapons, Home and Garden, Jewelry and Accessories, Male Fashion, Skins and Hair and Full Avatars.

For designers, this lets them expose their content to new potential customers. For customers, well it’s one to nine freebies per day depending on your interests. This post is actually about how this leads to sales. Last night I opened up a DSN freebie from Miss Muffet and tried it on. It was an adorably cute little lavendar dress that had Gidge calling me Bo Peep. It was cute, well made and not my style. However, I liked the quality and the wit so I decided to follow the landmark in the folder and check it out. I immediately saw that is was a store Achariya would love and im’ed her with a “check it out” landmark and then saw a dollarbie that would be perfect for  Gidge’s freestyle blogging and bought a sweater and this fabulous pants out above for myself. Gidge also bought the dollarbie and an outfit I am sure you will see soon – complete with – erm, I better let her suprise you. So…one item that I deleted… but interesting and good enough that it got me to the store and had me sending LM’s to two others. It’s a win-win.

Dressing2Shop

I think when you’re shopping you should dress well enough that you don’t feel all pathetic and underdressed and end up buying out the store. However, I do think shopping in a ball gown is lagtastic. I like to dress the way I would in RL, comfortably in chic casual clothing with some layering in case the air condition is on. This little mashup of items form Anuenue, Kookie and Canimal is just right. The shoes, by the way, are from Kalnins and it’s worth it to make a size 11 foot copy of your shape and toss in the folder with the shoes for easy dressing.
