I was surprised by a lovely trio of folders from Roslin Petion of Fleur with the stockings, sweater and dress you see here. I almost jumped up and down for joy when I put the dress on because I had a very similar one when I was a kid – a lovely wool jumper that my mother made and that I would have worn forever if puberty and breasts had not intervened.

Rain, Rain, Go Away
And Don’t Hurry Back! Some days the constant dreary rain can get wearing, knowing that it may be weeks becfor a patch of sunlight peeks out from behind the clouds. The only solution, then, is some fresh air and some good full spectrum light bulbs. Of course, looking good never hurts. I went for a little retail therapy at Chai’s new sim to pick up some of her new skins. That would cheer up the gloomiest gus.
Learning to Knit
When I trotted out the Learning Suit from Paper Couture yesterday, I said the top would be wonderfully useful for other outfits because it has such a rich beautiful texture. Here’s a sample. The boat neck of the Learning Suit shirt works beautifully with this cowl neck sweater I got at the huge Celestial Studios sale. Now I knew I just had to find a perfect little skirt to go with.
And now for something completely different…
Fooled you! Yes, it’s more from Paper Couture, but do I get creativity points for wearing their menswear? I know quality menswear is rare and probably should let men keep the good stuff to themselves when it comes along, but I love this suit. Look at the wonderful jacket and collar. It’s just so lush and the fabric is that perfect steel color that makes you think it’s blue, purple, brown, gold as the light moves over it. It’s that rich. Incidentally, without the jacket and the prim pieces, the white brocade shirt is a beautiful widenecked shell that can be a marvelous foundation for layering. I am sure you will be seeing that out and about soon.
Milkweed
Continuing my love affair with Paper Couture, I put on their magnificent Puntino dress. Like the rest of their collection of avarian inspired clothes, it is a feathery confection. However, I think the feather remind me of a beautiful delicate and enduring milkweed pod. Whether their natural inspiration came from birds or weeds, they spun it into this dream of a dress.
When the skies of November turn gloomy
The sun has left us and probably will not return until next June. Oh, sure we might get a glimpse for a minute here and there and maybe even a teasing hour of clear skies, but winter has settled in with the clouds and the rain and the dour weather. Thankfully, we can teleport to other places in a heartbeat, to sunny Cuba or Costa Rica, to Singapore or India or Africa and all the sunny, happy climes. But for today, I will dress for the gloomy November skies.
Simply Elegant
I do love a sheath dress. Simple, elegant and oh-so-lovely. This blue dress from Skin Flicks is particularly beautiful with the lovely sleeve details and the assymetrical bodice.
Parakeet Release
The Lu sisters of Paper Couture are not shy about color. They use it with bold broad strokes and with supreme confidence. That’s why they can produce such luscious dresses as Parakeet, a bold yellow dress that rivals the brightest birds in the jungle.
Ghost Hunting
Yes, I went ghost hunting, and will share a great find in this post, but there were other Halloween promotions this weekend, including freebies that were just there and not hiding in trees, closets, airshafts and right in front of my nose. Take this lovely Halloween makeup from The Obscene – completely free and not hiding anywhere. After some of the toughies, a little easy one was nice. Continue reading
A rose is a rose
Kuri’s Style has many dainty and feminine dresses including a lovely 5L bargan that several other people have blogged. When I went to get that freebie, a couple other things caught my eye, including the sweet dress this top belongs too. The other outfit I had just taken off was quite similar so I wanted a different look and opted to dig an old skirt out of my closet to finish the look.
