No Place For Beginners or Sensitive Hearts..

posted by Gidge Uriza

So my only two trips to Vegas were via the company I worked for, business trips of various sorts. Despite that, I got to look from my “I’m just here on business with no cash for nutty stuff” point of view at some of the legendary Vegas activities.

Such as, prostitution!

The last time I went, our company rented out the entire Treasure Island/Mirage hotel complex (ahem yeah it was a big company) and put up every manager and above from around the world.

One of my two favorite moments in Vegas came in the casino by the elevators to the tower rooms at the Treasure Island.  I step off the elevator and walk toward the bar, where the president of my division (my boss) is seated, chatted up by this bejeweled girl in bright green. Continue reading

Prelude to More Options

As I have mentioned, this new collection from Prelude is dominated by outfits that are clothing suites with multiple blouses, skirts and pants for mixing and matching. Still, sometimes you want to add something of your own – as I did with the glam Micha Mi tank here.  I love the little boleros in the Sorbonne suite, but preferred a simple tank to the fancy bras that are designed to go with it.

Come Dancing,All Her Boyfriends Used to Come and Call…

The sweep of motion in this scarf Cajsa captured put me in mind of that great song, who is it by, the Kinks?

Another Saturday Another Date

She would be ready but she’d always make him wait

In the front hall in anticipation…..he didn’t know the night

would end up in frustration…..

he’d end up blowing all his wages for the week……..

all for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek……

COME DANCING!

I mean, that totally IS this girl, right?

🙂 Who me? Continue reading

The Clothing Fair – A Post Where No One Complains

posted by Gidge Uriza

My biggest concern going to the Relay for Life Clothing Fair was truly, what I PERSONALLY was going to wear.  I like the Challenge of putting on something Low ARC and looking good – and positively impacting my own experience in what can otherwise sometimes be LAG HELL of Fairs and Expos. Going For Baroque

I know it’s a bad pun but I’m not the one going for broke, it’s Prelude designer Polaire Aeghin. She is going to extremes to create outfits you can wear three, four, five different ways even before you start mixing and matching with the rest of your wardrobe. Good grief, she even includes two *TWO* parrot canes, one with and one without an AO.

Martini Time at Jack & Belle's

posted by Gidge Uriza

My social season may be off, because just when “The Season” should be wrapping up for RL – I’m suddenly social butterfly this weekend.  I had logged in on Friday night to putz about and received an invitation to Belle LeFavre and her husband Jackson’s party they were hosting.

I wasn’t dressed properly but had picked up several cocktail type dresses at Little Rebel recently so I picked out one called Martini Time and popped over. Continue reading

L'Abel Loveliness

Neferia Abel is familiar to most fashion followers. She’s been a successful designer for a long time and just keeps getting better. Known primarily for her stunning vintage wear, a stop at her store Ivalde was a mini-lesson in fashion evolution and history. However,  weren’t we all curious what someone with such skill and creativity could come up with freed from the constraints of historical fashion dictates?

We need wonder no more. With Ivalde strong and successful, Neferia has launched a new line of contemporary clothing called L’abel which is seriously one of the cleverest fashion puns ever.  When your label is such a clever stroke of genius, your line of  fashion better match up and it does. For example, this lovely Marjon dress.

Simple, Elegant

posted by Gidge Uriza

So wandering around Zaara I spied her collection of dresses from the Amsterdam Fashion Week and as one who covets that which they do not possess (such as the ability to ever attend runway events bcse of their times) I knew I had to have one of them.

I picked up Melissa and ran back to my house to accessorize it, in love with the slink line (very Oscar de la Renta from a time before you pixels were born) and simplicity of color blocking.

And then I was stumped. Continue reading

Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair

Although the braid on the bodice is gold and restrained, I could not help but think of Flower Power when I put on this delightful little dress from Storin. This is actually more than a dress, it’s a suite in that it comes with a short prim to make it a blouse and a coordinating pair of pants – so you have options for that weekend getaway that you pack only in a carry-on. I went with the mood the dress put me in and added lamb’s lovely lovetones hair and then played

If you’re going to San Francisco,
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you’re going to San Francisco,
You’re gonna meet some gentle people there

After Armoire

I went to the opening of Armoire and was astonished by the imaginative and artful dioramas created by Saigye of Balderdash and the other tableux from Kesseret Steeplechase, Caliah Lyon, Violet Voltaire and Candy Cerveaux. Live models wore jewelry in the maze and in the dioramas and overall, it was just so incredibly well done I could have spent much more time there. I wore this dress from Sn@tch and pull up socks and wore that without jewelry or shoes, only my skin with hair from YourSkin that you have seen a few times already this week – and enjoyed a completely lag free romp with under 100 ARC. But when I left, I wanted to up the voltage as you shall see. Incidentally, I have no idea why Ivey Deschanel named this outfit Damaged Goods, because I think it’s perfect.
