Day to Night

Mar09_003

When we can change clothes with a click of button, carrying our entire closet with us wherever we go, we aren’t burdened with the challenge of trying to dress for the office and a date with one outfit. However, I thought it might be a fun thing to try anyway. I will concede the skirt is short for the office, but overall, I think this made a fairly good office look. I wore a lovely structured jacket from Elate with a snug waist that flows into a petal-like near peplum. I added a big fluffy bow from Yummy! to add a touch of modesty to the bodice. The bow was a pale mint, but I tinted it to limit my shades of green to two, not three. Both of these finds are from the March Collabor88.

But when five o’clock rolls around, the jacket is coming off and that fluffy bow is being rotated to hang over the shoulder, so the gorgeous and sexy bandeau style bodice on this fabulous mini from Cracked Mirror is visible in all its glory. You can find this dress at faMESHed.

It's Only Fashion – BLACK OPS VERSION!

Ok the title is because we got an erroneous pingback from the video game BLACK OPS and you know, that makes me wanna get all sniper-iffic and shoot someone.
So, I should wear something black right?

Is there some rule that says that snipers can’t be pretty too? Because if there is, I didn’t get the memo. Continue reading

Summer Dress from Elate!

posted by Gidge Uriza

It’s difficult to ever be disappointed by Kelli Iwish of ELATE! Her dresses are cute and festive and she almost always has something too precious out new and/or for free!

I can’t think of a single time I’ve been disappointed, truth be told. Continue reading

Designer Showcase Network, Part 2

Here is another example of the Designer Showcase Network at work – reminding me of a store I already know and showing me something new. It’s been a few months since I have visited Elate and this item from the  Designer Showcase Network reminded me that I like Elate’s design sensibility and inventiveness.  Most of what I have seen from there has been brighter than this subtle and reflective skirt and blouse – and seeing this new mood in Elate’s designs is exciting.  This morning’s example was the DSN introducing me to a completely new designer, this afternoon nudging my memory and showing a different side of a known store. I look forward to the growth and expansion of the DSN and don’t forget to check out the web site because it explains the effort made to make sure designers all reach the same number of people and that participants receive new items, from different stores. I Am Elated

Well, actually, I am just wearing Elate’s dress, but what the hey. Now, I know this dress has been blogged before. I have seen it at least three times, but…you know, I am not so vain that I think every single person who reads fashion blogs is one of my readers. I am equally certain the other bloggers would never assume they are universally read either. Even the vanity of fashionistas has limits. So if you are someone seeing this for the third time, that’s the downside of dresses as fun as this one.

Chantilly Lace

Chantilly lace and a pretty face
And a pony tail hanging down
That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk
Makes the world go round

Okay, I just love that song and would dig it out for anything, but it seems to fit with the lovely lace in this jacket. I have another prim jacket of lace made by Rano Noel that I blogged recently. Sadly her store is closed, her website is down and she has not responded to several im’s and note card inquiries. I can only conclude the has left SL for awhile.

Because that jacket was a wardrobe staple I pulled out a lot, I knew I had to find one that met those same needs so I would not be repeatedly blogging one item that you have no chance of finding. So I asked my friend Miffy to make a new one. Basically what was needed was a prim jacket (so you can wear it over those frequent jacket-layer-only tops), that was tintable and had a lace texture to reveal the top underneath and not look too heavy. Gentlemen, Start Your Engines

The Indy 500 has always meant a lot to me. I’m a fan. Growing up in Indianpolis I looked forward to the ENTIRE month of May and all the social events that revolved around the race. When I was about 3, when my grandfather was the mayor, my grandmother won a raffle at the Mayors Breakfast event – a black and white check mink stole. Continue reading
