Back to the Jersey Shore

may28_006

The Jersey Shore is such a fun sim, I had to run back for some more shots. As you can see, I am standing by The Hammer on the Midway – waiting for some guy to come along and impress me. Sadly, the sim was noticeably man-free that day. I guess I will have to hit the Hammer myself. So long as I don’t get any grease on my summer white little skirt from Whippet & Buck. It’s amazing how filthy those hammers get when they aren’t hitting anything other than the game.

Honestly, the Duck Hunt is more my speed. I always liked the Duck Hunt even though I understood the game was rigged and there might not even be one winning duck in the mix. That doesn’t matter when I have such winning shoes as these square-toed shoes from G. Field. With a touch script to change the trim and to turn off the version 1 invisiprims, these shoes are style and inventory win!

Shiki Shiki Retro Pop

apr08_013

High-waisted pants, sleeveless print tops, narrow belts – all are iconic fashions of the 1960s. Shinichi Mathy of Shiki Designs, though, gives them contemporary punch with his bright, saturated colors and shine in the Esme pants outfit. The pink in those pants is pure 2011.

Hot Weather Blues

It’s too darn hot!
It’s too darn hot!
I’d like to sup with my baby tonight,
Refill the cup with my baby tonight.
I’d like to sup with my baby tonight,
Refill the cup with my baby tonight,
But I ain’t up to my baby tonight
‘Cause it’s too darn hot

It’s too darn hot for much of anything – even sitting at the computer to blog this is too darn hot. Dressing for the heat – in the lovely new releases from Indyra Originals – there’s some relief in the hot weather clothes – but it’s still too darn hot.

A Baiastice Cocktail

This little cocktail dress is not Baiastice Neat, but a lovely little Baiastice Cocktail mixing one part Baiastice with one part Malt. The skirt is Baiastice’s lovely taffetta stripe skirt and the top is from Malt’s Florentia dress – and add-on frill that some perfectly complements the skirt that it looks like they were made to be together – a perfect martini of an outfit, stirred not shaken. I prefer gin and you stir gin martinis and shake vodka martinis, unless you’re just copying James Bond without knowing why he wants his shaken. Bond’s a vodka martini man, the poser!

In the Forest

I love the Forrest [sic] Nest dress from Boudoir for many reasons – in particular the lush forest  green color and the intricate cutwork lace in the bodice. My mother taught me this lace making technique and I could spend three months making insets for the upper front bodice. Of course, it could be machine made, but it has the look of hand made lace. With it I am wearing the glorious Whiskey & Wheatgrass necklace and earrings from Balderdash.

StoRin & R.icielli

Annah Whitfield is one of my favorite pose makers. Her poses are great for showing off clothes and shooting pics for the blog as they have little or no distortion and are carefully calibrated to avoid breaks and intersections. They are investment poses because they will be used again and again and again. These poses are available right now at the StoRin booth at the  Pose Fair. Have you been there yet? No? Well, get moving!!!

Baby's Got a New Pair of Shoes

Anyone who follows my plurks for any length of time knows I am a shoe hound. I love shoes and frequently post pics of shoes that melt my butter. Cat from the A-Bomb team recently was inspired by a pic I plurked from Valentino’s 2010 Spring collection to create a wonderful in-world homage and was kind enough to name them the Cajsa boots. Yes, I am doing the happy dance! Baby’s Got a New Pair of Shoes! and they’re named after me!

Thoughts of Spring

1800 miles due east of Portland is where I grew up – in the Northwoods of Minnesota. It sounds much closer in longitude. Only 26 degrees away. However, here thoughts of spring are in the air. In the courtyard there are some crocuses popping up. There’s a small bed of daffodils blooming alongside the church across the street. My best friends camellias are blooming and there’s pregnant buds on the magnolias.  Back home, a blanket of snow covers the ground and it’s a frigid -6 degrees Fahrenheit, that’s -21 to the rest of the world. I am so glad to be here where I can think of spring and put on such a lovely gown as this vernal confection from Lady Thera.

Tain't What You Do

Tain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it.
Tain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it.

Tain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it.
That’s what gets results!

We would all benefit if we took this song to heart, wouldn’t we? I think when you look at Sissy Pessoa, you can see she has. I have been enjoying her designs since 2007 and have loved watching her learn new skills and expand her line. When I first started shopping at Baiastice, she made beautiful clothing. Then she made some purses and sunglasses. She was prolific and you had to hop all over the grid to her different stores to see her entire output. Then she finally got a sim and you could see everything in one place – and she started making shoes. Amazing shoes! And then she started to make skins – and always, getting better. Her clothing also got stronger and better as she began to experiment with sculpts and new shapes. She has never rested on her laurels and has yet to plateau. You can see that constant striving in this gorgeous gown and her lovely new skin line – Casting.
