Quick Look:Mimikri – 50L Weekend Madness

posted by Gidge Uriza

Ok so I never did 50L Fridays or 60L Sundays or what have you, until this weekend. And now I’m broke so I hope you bastards are happy. šŸ™‚ Kidding.

Let me first say – the only reason I stepped out for this event, 50L Fridays, were these TIGHTS from SH*T Happens. Ana had announced them on Plurk (hello creators – JOIN PLURK, it’s like fashion on Crack) and I knew if nothing else, I’d make time to pick up a set.Ā

While I was out carousing I got a notice about another event, WEEKEND MADNESS that some creators are participating in and saw Mimikri’s name on the notecard – HELLO!Ā  I cannot believe this jacket and skirt was only L$50!

I added a black tank underneath so as not to be TOOO booberiffic and these gorgeous sleek boots from A-Bomb. If you haven’t been to A-Bomb lately – I have to say she makes some of the most fun stuffs around. Definitely worth a stop!

1 + 1 = 1

No, I didn’t flunk math, but in this case, take 1 lovely bra and 1 lovely corset and put them together and you get 1 lovely top. The corset is from A Piece of Candy and has such a beautifully intricate fabric – reminding me of Frank Lloyd Wright’s stained glass windows, actually. I really loved the fabric and wanted to show it off, but wanted some straps and frankly, the plain edged top of it just needed a bit of boost. So, trying on some bras that would be just a bit higher to give it an edge, I put on this lovely Casa del Shai bra with a bit of pink lace to pick up the pink in the fabric and I knew I had what I wanted.

Rocking It Old School

J’s Thigh High Boots are one of those can’t live without releases that just explode across the grid and everyone has them, wears them and looks rocking hot in them. Now, am not long enough in-world to actually remember the era when system boots were de riguer, but I have seen a few people call these old-school boots and if by old-school they mean high boots that fit, don’t bork when you walk and look hotter than cobra chili, well, give me old school. With it, I wore the lovely skirt and jacket from Doux Petit Dahl with a gorgeous mustard colored skirt that is made for fall. The off the shoulder jacket is delectable, though it did present some challenges in finding something to wear under it. Yes, I know, I could have worn nothing under it if I were not me.

Moondance

Well it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
‘Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I’m trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
You know the night’s magic
Seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush…

Could I just have one more Moondance with you, my love?
Can I make some more romance with you, my love?

Oh, this dress is made for dancing in the moonlight. It catches the light and reflects the moonlight as you dance. Of course, when I wore it dancing I did take off the jacket, but this sure is the jacket to be seen in.

It Started with Sysy's Scarf

posted by GidgeĀ Uriza

I gotta admit I’m not a big scarf wearer. I find that they so often floop out unnaturally and just look bizarre – or cut into my hair or some other thing that annoys.

So when I dropped on this lovely scarf from Sysy’sĀ – I was immediately in love with the comfortable way it lays on your shoulders. So – I had to make an outfit around it, now didn’t I?

A crushed velvet jacket from Sn@tchĀ and suedeĀ pants also from there seemed the perfect winter accompaniment to this lovely knitted scarf. Ok I might not be too warm……..but I look cute. Continue reading

It's Hilarious!

Oh, this little jacket from Hilarious is adorable. It has such an insouciant, childlike feeling of whimsy in its design and execution that I dare you to wear it and not feel happy.Ā  And the happiness factor can be maximized if you add those fun plaid wool pants from Hilarious as well. Kesseret Steeplechase definitely is the go-to-woman for hand-drawn wool textures that will keep you cuddly cozy.

Quick Look: Coco & Mimikri

I think COCO and Mimikri are natural matches when putting outfits together. Both store have bold, modern looks and constantly push the limits of SL fashion in developing and working with prims, sculpties and textures.Ā  Mimikri is wilder in the texture department and COCO in the sculptie department, but there’s a certain balance when you pull their work together. Take the lovely COCO leather jacket and see how well it is Mimikri top and pants.

Content Theft PSA – Keep Hope Alive

The Clara Bow Dress from Rebel Hope Designs

The Clara Bow Dress from Rebel Hope Designs

It was great seeing so many of you standing up against content theft with posts featuring some Rebel Hope Designs. It’s exciting to learn that Linden Lab acted quickly and effectively and have excluded the stolen content from SL. What that means is that when people who have the stolen content try to rez it, they cannot and they get a message the content is blacklisted.Ā  You can read Rebel Hope’s statement on the SL Forums. Nonetheless, the scale of this theft and the assumption on the part of the thief that nothing would happen (an assumption fed by past events) and the development of even more effective theft technology has content creators concerned. They have started a the Step Up campaign and there will be a special edition of Fabulous Fashion TV on Monday that I encourage all of you to watch. If, like me, you will be at work then, you can watch it later on Itunes.Ā Ā  Please check the links and Angie Mornington’s blog for more info.
