It's Got To Be The Shoes…

I had to have the scale from Artilleri’s Fifty Linden Friday offering, because I’ve got a bathroom for the first time ever. So it just seemed like kismet that this item come along for my bathroom decor.

I am fairly sure, however, that it’s the shoes weighing me down today. I can’t weigh this much.

I’m wearing new heels from Kalnins and a slinky new dress from Haut.Monde. I was in a sleek kind of mood. Continue reading

Gasqhe: the Joy of Discovery

Gasqhe Wen

One of the joys of events like Modavia Fashion Directory is the discovery of new designers and new stores and sometimes, as in the case of Karija Azalee, whose collection for Gasqhe blew me away. I was struck by the originality and the unique vision of her collection so planned to check out her store and saw no info in her picks. I im’ed to suggest she put her LM in her picks and she confess she didn’t have a store yet, but would in the near future. In the interim, she has a boutique booth at Moravia. The booths will stay open for two months, so there’s plenty of time for you to get there.

Gasqhe Jils

I think I compared her textures as Cezanne on Acid. They have the muted, soft look of watercolors. This dress, Jils, makes me think of a bed if irises. Irises were my mom’s favorite flower and they always find a soft spot in my heart.

Remember That Time I Was Taller Than Cajsa?

Neither do we. I changed my shape like once a year ago almost and Cajsa NEVER changes hers hardly regardless, we’re never surprised when one of us shows up for a shoot together remarkably taller than the other.

It’s one of those little things you just can’t predict. Other than to be sure, it’ll happen. Continue reading

World's End

apr11_007
I went to the World’s End last night and contrary to most apocalyptic movies, it was lovely. Dressing for the world’s end is a tricky business – do you want to get all Mad Max and ready for anything or do you want to hold fast to your own aesthetic and be at ease? I don’t know the best choice for every world’s end scenario, but for the World’s End build in Second Life, this feminine, soft pastel print dress from e!, or Eclectic Apparel and Accessories.

In the popular parlance of X Y is X, Beautiful sim is beautiful. In the preferred X Y is Z way of saying it Beautiful sim is delightful, delovely and divine.

WideWorld Paradise

WideWorld Paradise
I made a trip to WideWorld Paradise – an sim exploring surrealist art – and think I could spend hours exploring its features. When I saw this gorgeous blue tunnel with orange peacock trees, I decided to wear the blue version of the Samuela dress from LaLei. The cross-banded sequins give it a nice modern look, especially with the bit of exposed midriff. It comes in six colors, pastel pink, blue and green and cream, gold and silver.
WideWorld Paradise
Isn’t the setting gorgeous? When you teleport into WideWorld Paradise, you are offered several places to teleport to, but don’t rely on just that. There are surprises for the intrepid explorer.

Fashion For Life – Shiki Designs

mar13_003

Shinichi Mathy of Shiki Designs always makes interesting clothes with a singular element that takes them in an unpredictable direction. For example, the addition of fur at the shoulders adds quirky interest to this lovely alencon lace dress. Shinichi is just one of the many Japanese designers who have generously participated in the Fashion For Life show.

I find myself often thinking about those Second Life friends and acquaintances in Japan and wondering how they are doing. Shinichi’s associate reports that he is fine, which is great news. So far, everyone seems to be doing okay. I find myself thinking about “Everything In Its Path” a book about the aftermath of the Buffalo Creek flood. The author explains with great compassion about the ways natural disaster traumatizes in ways that are not first seen – and most especially through loss of community. The evacuation, the loss of neighbors, habits, of the everyday. It is an incredible book and you can even read the author’s findings in a document downloadable from FEMA. While the ongoing crisis captures our attention now, especially since the damage keeps escalating with nuclear plants and more aftershocks, we should all know that it will take a long, long time to recover a sense of normality again.

I took the photos at the Fashion For Life event. I cannot encourage you enough to go and see these builds. They are just so amazing. I love seeing how the builders translate the different photographers’ aesthetics to architecture and landscaping. It really is a tour de force and you should not deprive yourself of the experience.

We'll Always Have Paris

Chaisuki Paris NoBrowTattoo_001
Rick and Ilsa will always have Paris and so will you if you check out the new Paris skin from Chaisuki for Vanity Universe Skin Fair. With 18 skins, 18 tattoo layer lip shades, 21 special layers, 4 cleavage layers, 3 pubic hair layers, 4 brow layers and 4 hairbases in 6 warm and lush tones, you will have enough options to wear Paris everyday for a year without ever repeating yourself. Chai Kazan, the skinner behind Chaisuki, must have worked her fingers to the bone to produce this much variety. It took hours simply to shoot the pictures of the skins, I can’t imagine how long it must have taken to create them.
Chaisuki Paris Tones
Six luscious skin tones. One of the things I really like about Chaisuki skin tones is that they remind me of warm and gentle hand-colored photographs. Continue reading

Mesmeric Fingers Softly Touch

Redgrave Fairy Skin Avie 08 Snowstorm_001

Still, is the bustle in the Brook —
Sealed are the spicy valves —
Mesmeric fingers softly touch
The Eyes of many Elves —

Emily Dickinson, Poem XLIX

Redgrave Fairy Skin Avie

Emily Dickinson wrote about elves more than once. She truly saw the world in a grain of sand and was inspired by the natural world and by her fantasies. Emilia Redgrave has been inspired by fantasy lately. Whether you look at her dramatic Trinity skins inspired by vampires or her rugged action hero King skins for men complete with blood and bruises or her latest release for Vanity Universe Skin Fair, Avie, the Fairy skin, these skins are important contributions to the fantastical lives of Second Life residents. Just as Trinity is the quintessential vampiress, Avie perfectly expresses the naturalistic world of elves and fairies with her fresh, glowing healthy skin and that healthy outdoor blush on her cheeks.

Skin, Skin & More Skin

PXL Linda NAT Gold Lips smoke_001

Vanity Universe Skin Fair got off to a busy start – with a full sim of excited skin shoppers delighting in the new releases and swimming in a sea of demos. PXL Creations newest release for the Fair is Linda Gen3. Hart Larsson released it before the Fair, so many of you may have seen it. I was sick, though, and only got to unpack it until Sunday. I had to blog it even though it’s been blogged several times because it’s such a beautiful and elegant skin. It’s exactly the sort of skin I love, luminous and elegant with many options to allow us to get the exact look we want.

PXL Linda NAT Rose Lips_003

It’s not just the elegant makeups that make me fall in love with PXL Creations skins, it’s the soft and tender sexiness of the body. The tummy and the derriere are delightfully sexy. Special touches are a few stray moles. There’s also a full body tattoo of freckles and cleavage tattoo layers for those who want more uplift.
