Fooled you! Yes, it’s more from Paper Couture, but do I get creativity points for wearing their menswear? I know quality menswear is rare and probably should let men keep the good stuff to themselves when it comes along, but I love this suit. Look at the wonderful jacket and collar. It’s just so lush and the fabric is that perfect steel color that makes you think it’s blue, purple, brown, gold as the light moves over it. It’s that rich. Incidentally, without the jacket and the prim pieces, the white brocade shirt is a beautiful widenecked shell that can be a marvelous foundation for layering. I am sure you will be seeing that out and about soon.

Milkweed
Continuing my love affair with Paper Couture, I put on their magnificent Puntino dress. Like the rest of their collection of avarian inspired clothes, it is a feathery confection. However, I think the feather remind me of a beautiful delicate and enduring milkweed pod. Whether their natural inspiration came from birds or weeds, they spun it into this dream of a dress.
In a League of its own
I recently took a new posting as a footman at Versaille. This is the autumn uniform. 8)
Well, no, that’s not true. What is true is that wasitcoats and boots and buttons are sexy. Yes they are!
Dance the night away!
Sunday afternoon Maht did one of his best sets ever at the Velvet – a homage to the great songwriters and I was ready to dance because I was eager to try out the new dances from Akeyo in a group. I prefer dances that don’t make the men dancing with me on my HUD look silly, and these Akeyo dances really fit the bill. Animazoo has some great ones, too, by the way. No disrespect to Sine Wave, which also produces some good club dances. It’s just that I cringe when I see a guy doing OMG. What can I say? Anyway, eager to dance, I decided a nice miniskirt and tights would suit and sure enough they did.
El día de los muertos
Some cultures are more comfortable with death than others. In the United States and England we have a hard time with the words death, dead and dying and have come up with hundreds of euphemisms from resting in peace to crossing the river and going home to more colorful ones like kicked the bucket and taking a dirt nap. We have over 200 euphemisms for death. On the other hand, when I first began studying Spanish, I learned a children’s song somehat similar to Old McDonald Had a Farm – focusing on animal noises. The title was Mi Gallo Se Murió Ayer – “My Rooster Died Yesterday” – clearly a culture that doesn’t shrink from death. You see that in the wonderful celebration of el día de los muertos in Mexico and Central America where they throw a party at the cemetary complete with food, wine and song – a fiesta of light, laughter and remembrance. Some of Second Life’s most creative were inspired by that tradition and I am wearing the wonderfully bright results.
I am sad to say that this wonderful skin is not on sale, but that just goes to show you what high standards Annyka Bekkers of blowpop has. She has worked on these skins for some time but was dissatisfied with the result. Sharing her decision to delete them on plurk, a bunch of us begged for a stay of execution and she gifted us with the skins. Personally, I cannot see what’s wrong, they look perfect to me, but I defer to her expertise and am grateful that we have creators in Second Life who will not release less than their best for sale. As a skin consumer, it’s reassuring to know that blowpop has such exacting standards.
Lacy Lace
RunoRuno’s white lace dress is extraordinarily flexible, coming in 2 lengths. Because the prim skirt is actually 3 prims, it stays looking good even while dancing – which sure worked for me when I danced away the Sunday afternoon in this dress. I also go a lot of compliments on the dress and can tell you that guys like it.
No Pixels Were Harmed in the…
One of my favorite groups is the Swedish group Hedningarna and one of my favorite songs of theirs is Räven. You can hear a clip here. I thought if it as soon as I put on the wonderfully luxuorious red fox jacket from bijou as the name translates to Fox Woman. The song is quite ferocious, so I left off the lower half of the fur coat, making it a jacket to wear with leather pants – much fiercer that way, I thought.
Incidentally, this texture is also in the free texture pack I mentioned in the previous post.
October Pop
Gracies new fall collection includes a gorgeous retro pop miniskirt that would have been at home in the closets of Twiggy or Jean Shrimpton, but luckily for me, it’s at home in my closet. With a retro pop print and color palette, this delightful miniskirt is perfect for fall.
Unique Unique
I am not one of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit as Hillary so cleverly put it. I like separates and mixing and matching and seldom get excited about a suit. However, I was excited about this red and gold pantsuit from Unique Moonsoo.
Ralph
I may be the only person in America who likes Kenley and hopes she does well in Project Runway. When she talks back and they all exclaim about her attitude, I shout at the television and say “What about Santino, what about Jeffrey? Aren’t women allowed to defend their work, too?” But, I really had to disagree with her argument last week, She said people want a show and classic doesn’t make a show. Wrong! That’s simply because she hasn’t seen Gracie Winnfield’s designs. Gracie does classic with an edge.
