A Baiastice Cocktail

This little cocktail dress is not Baiastice Neat, but a lovely little Baiastice Cocktail mixing one part Baiastice with one part Malt. The skirt is Baiastice’s lovely taffetta stripe skirt and the top is from Malt’s Florentia dress – and add-on frill that some perfectly complements the skirt that it looks like they were made to be together – a perfect martini of an outfit, stirred not shaken. I prefer gin and you stir gin martinis and shake vodka martinis, unless you’re just copying James Bond without knowing why he wants his shaken. Bond’s a vodka martini man, the poser!

If the Duck of Death Wore Baiastice….

posted by Gidge Uriza

It is my opinion that the Cowboy Boots of Evil go with more things than I ever break them out for.  But when Baiastice celebrated it’s 3rd Anniversary and Sissy was gracious enough to offer awesome outfits at a discount to celebrate, I knew I needed boots with this one.

And what better boots than the most evil boots I own? Continue reading

Sepia Dreams

Sometimes an outfit just is so infused with vintage romantic motifs that I can’t resist using the sepia Windlight settings and hitting the Sepia filter in PhotoShop just for an indulgence in sentiment. That’s what happened when I wore this lingerie from Casa del Shai that came complete with a feather fan. Seriously, it was the fan!

I wore the lingerie with the gorgeous new dress from Baiastice named Diva in Satin. It has such a 20’s Art Deco feeling with the gorgeous print that the Tamara lingerie from Casa del Shai just seemed in keeping with the look. The bodice of the bra shows just a bit at the cleavage and could, to some people, seem a bit inappropriate, but I like the added definition and diminsion.

Tupelo Honey

You can take all the tea in China, put in a big brown bag for me. Sail around the all the seven oceans, drop it straight into the deep blue sea. He’s as sweet as Tupelo Honey. He’s as angel of the first degree. He’s as sweet as Tupelo honey. Just like honey from the bee. That just happens to be the song playing on my Itunes as I post this and it also happens to be one of my favorite songs. Although it’s a Van Morrison song, I am listening to my favorite cover of it by Cassandra Wilson and it’s just a meltingly beautiful song. It’s such a romantic song.  Whether it suits this sexy little dress, that’s for you to decide. I like it so well, I think it suits everything.

Shiki Six

Shiki Designs released ten fun summer dresses. Gidge and I showed you two in the post highlighting our new shoes from A-Bomb. Here are six more, showing all the lovely floral prints and three of the five colors of the lace dresses – all but gren and blue. With them I wore the lovely new Victorian Ankle Boots from Juicy in appropriately juicy fruit colors.

The More You Look

I love the scattering of pailletes on this dress. Usually paillets are scattered on super sexy ball gowns, eding the organza overskirts that float above silk or satin draping. That makes this very special because it’s not a ball gown and it has a severe, conservative silhouette. Now, that first impression of conservatism is belied by the the ultra-modern shoulder pads and the exaggerated bow in the back – but that just makes the dress even more interesting. Another way that the initial conservatism is overwritten by design is in the fitted structured princess seam bodice that conforms so closely to the body. This is one of those lady-like dresses that will keep drawing closer, more admiring looks the longer it is studied.

Come Dancing

Come dancing,
That’s how they did it when I was just a kid,
And when they said come dancing,
My sister always did.

Is there a happier melody in music than the jubilant “Come Dancing” by the Kinks? The song lyrics are a just a little bittersweet, but the melody is pure joy. Can anyone sit listening to that song without moving to the beat – whether just tapping toes or standing up and dancing? It seems like a great song for these great separates from Baiastice that are perfect for a night of dancing.

In Which I Match the Dance Floor

Gidge’s husband Silo had his Rez Day party on Saturday. Since I was DJ’ing, I went over early to put out a couple dance balls and noticed that Gidge had put out a psychedelic dance floor that reminded me of a new dress I got at Baiastice. Suddenly, I knew I just had to wear that dress that matched the dance floor – and so, here it is – the Yoyce Dress from Baiastice.

This Post Lacks Ninjas and Tigers -But Has Makeup #13

posted by Gidge Uriza

All videos in the 80s needed fog, wind, outrageous and bold face makeup (even on the boys), big tall hair that would stand up and NOT sway in the wind (thank you AquaNet) and if you were REALLY putting effort into your production – NINJAS AND TIGERS.

(Point of reference – Total Eclipse of the Heart Video, I promise, You Tube It.) Continue reading
