There’s a quote from Charles Dickens’ Bleak House that came to mind when I put this dress on. “I only ask to be free. The butterflies are free. Mankind will surely not deny to Harold Skimpole what it concedes to the butterflies!” This Crazy Butterflies for Life dress from Orage Creations got me thinking about freedom – and what it means. FDR talked about the Four Freedoms; freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want and freedom from fear. He wasn’t thinking of cancer when he talking about those freedoms, but wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing to finally come to a time when the word cancer does not evoke fear, but instead a confidence that it can be treated and overcome? To that end and working for that day, the designers for Fashion For Life, such as Orage Creations Elettra Gausman, are supporting the American Cancer Society’s efforts to combat cancer and create a future where cancer is no longer causes fear.

I Went to the Garden
Cancer touches us all. We all have friends and family who have confronted cancer and struggled to overcome. It is perhaps the reason that there is such universal support for Relay for Life and for Fashion For Life, the shopping fashion expo that raises scads of money for the American Cancer Society and their global programs for research and support in the struggle against cancer. It will be two years in July since I lost my oldest brother to cancer and I went to the ACS memorial garden to spend some time thinking about my brother and cousins who have died because while we are winning battles, the war on cancer is far from over.
Mourn The Raven – at FLUX
Quoth The Raven….yadda yadda…
The FLUX Event is in full swing with it’s nod to the more macabre and dark world of curio obscura. We are short two headed mermaids but not of much else, this is for sure. I’m wearing the Raven gown from Eclectic Firefly, pity the birds who are shivering as I swoosh about in their feathers. Continue reading
Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa
It was pure coincidence that I was wearing this fabulous leather dress with feathers when I teleported over to check out The Magic Flute, but when I saw the first part of the exhibit, I thought it was too perfect for words. It made me smile, remembering a good college friend who played Papageno in a college production of the opera. I decided to take a few snaps, play the musical and remember old friends.
Papageno is the birdcatcher and the initial room in The Magic Flute has this fabulous birdcage. There’s so much more, though, you really should visit yourself.

ChouChou Ch-Boogie
ChouChou has returned for a short time and I popped over to check it out. I opted to adopt their region windlight settings to see it as they wanted it to be seen. It sure is dramatic, though you cannot see my outfit. I wandered around and then noticed that their other sims were open, too, so I popped over to Babel.
Babel is also very dramatic with a seemingly never-ending stairway with lots of boxes – each with a short measure of music that affects the play of music as you climb the stairs. This is a sim that you simply must have your sound turned up so you can experience it at its best. I was wearing a sweater from Diapop for Back 2 Black – the awareness campaign for mental health issues. This sweater focuses on comfort and it really is a comfy sweater, isn’t it?

Chantilly Lace
Well, I don’t have a ponytail, but I do have a wiggle in my walk, so long as my AO is turned on. I picked this up from Tres Blah at Collabor88 last time – not this time, so don’t get too excited. I have been wearing it the last couple days and thought it worth blogging simply because the quality of the work on this dress is exciting.

Barra Barra
When I put on the Star dress from Alafolie I was so distracted by the glitter of the paillettes that I didn’t even notice on of the best features of the dress until I hopped over to The Velvet to listen in on a friend’s set and spend the evening dancing. That was when I noticed how beautifully the dress moved. But you don’t have to take my word for it, I shot a very short little movie that I will post after the cut so you can see for yourself. As to the dress, I love this simplicity of the idea of the intense coverage of paillettes that decreases as they go away from the bodice.

I’m not doing the Lingerie Challenge. I might do the Lingerie Challenge. I don’t know. I haven’t decided. But I AM WEARING lingerie, so this should give me some sort of partial participation points. Continue reading
