Quick Look: Magnolia

I am busy this morning and only have a few minutes to share this lovely dress from Magnolia that I wore to Stacie Pryor’s birthday party on Monday. See how far I am behind!! With it I am wearing a rocking hot handbag from KA Designs, the phyton and that is not a typo.

A-Bomb's Miss Kiss Rocks It!

Plurk should definitely be on the tactics list for anyone planning to conquer the world. It is an idea to action place like no other. For example, the recent Blogger Appreciation Week mushroomed into such an extravaganza in part because plurk is so good an spreading ideas and information into ever-expanding circles and networks. It also can be the catalyst for amazing spurts of creativity and then fun things like this fabulous dress can happen. You see, yesterday I expressed an inappropriate level of lust for a dress worn by Dita van Teese at DSquared.  Plurkista Lavea Alter of A-Bomb ventured a stab at translating it into the virtual world and you see the result above. She even volunteered to pose for this shoot and that is her rocking the Dita look on the right.

Dante

Sometimes the names of outfits confuse me and I try to figure out why they are named what they are. For example, this jacket is named Dante. Well, it is hellfire red, I guess, but other than that, there is nothing hellish about it. In fact, I think it is divine. Hmmm, maybe that’s the reference, though it’s not comedic. Color me confused, but enthralled with this lovely rich and oh-so-luscious jacket.  You can find it at the new-to-me Paper Street Soap Company, a store I stumbled on while looking for another. Those are always the best kind, aren’t they?

While I have your attention, let me also add that Gidge is out of surgery, in recovery and while not ready to dance the cha-cha, the surgery has gone well.

Murder Incorporated

There actually was a Murder, Inc. that flourished (if you can use that word for it) from the 20’s until the 40’s – a company of hired killers and enforcers who worked for the National Crime Syndicate.  However, the mob has never been an equal opportunity employer so I am sure Miss Murder never worked for them. Actually, Miss Murder is the name of the delightful little plaid outfit from A-Bomb that includes this adorable skirt and tie. It’s so cute that it’s already had a few outings on the feed so I decided to change it up a bit by changing the shirt to this one from Cachet (Lelutka).

CCAD

With the marvelous launch post from Winter Jefferson, Callie Cline Appreciation Day got off to a wild start. I cannot even begin to imagine anything to top that, so will take the safe route and highlight a wonderful gown by Callie Cline and acknowledge Callie’s extraordinary gift for amity. I constantly read comments about those in the fashion world that stereotype us as particularly shallow, catty and drama-riven despite the frequent and constant examples of cooperation and charity such as Relay For Life, the Heart of Love and design collborations such as the recent design challenge. I could go on for hours listing examples that contradict that stereotype of the fashionista, but really, all I need to do is mention Callie Cline and the stereotype falls into the dustbin in which it belongs.

Casual Friday – On Wednesday

posted by Gidge Uriza

It’s Friday in my world. I used to work in a place that had a jeans on Friday rule. If you were going to be OFF of work on Friday, you’d wear jeans on whatever your LAST day of work that week was, and declare to anyone who raised their eyebrows “TODAY IS MY FRIDAY!”

Hey. It worked.

This is another great pick-up from Dolly Rock when she releases her new releases for only L$100. I would never lie and say I’m madly in love with everything she makes (hell, I fangrl Digit Darkes and won’t even say that about her) but truly – I find some gems in that store, fun kicky things from formal to smexy and I adore picking them up on sale for belonging to her SOM.

This set includes the jens, corset style top and a hat.

I am not wearing the hat. I’m not a hat person, they involve editing and other things that I have little patience for. It’s a CUTE hat. It’s just not my thing. Especially after I spent so much time doing my hair!

You Scream, I Scream

We all scream for ice cream. I know this dress for the Fashion Designer Challenge is inspired by clowns and circuses and that is very evident in the collar, but when I look at it, it makes me think of summer days and waffle cones. This is an ice cream sundae of a dress with a little vanilla, chocolate, strawberry all on a waffle cone. And like that cone, it’s absolutely scrumptious.

Am I Plaid Enough?

Regular readers know we love Sn@tch here at It’s Only Fashion – fabulously affordable fatpacks of fun. Ivey Deschanel, the genius behind Sn@tch is quite possiblyly the witties designerr in Second Life.  Without doubt, she is the wittiest I have encountered and she applies that wit not just in her clothing names, but in the designs as well. Only someone with a highly developed with would name this Enough Plaid…and use such wildly vibrant colors. I don’t think these textures will find themselves in any hunting tartans soon. Because Sn@tch clothes come in fat packs, you get to wildly play with them too. Case in point, Ivey did not put this top with this bottom.  I mashed up two together…and I think it works.

Dysfunction Junction, What's Your Function?

posted by Gidge Uriza

I have a new project I’ve taken on. I recently did the key hunt with Cajsa and Belle. And I have a confession.

It is the first hunt I’ve ever actually DONE it all. I have never had a hunt hang- out night with my girlfriends, never actually just SAT UP until it was done. So afterward, after I had collected my BOOTIE……..I had this thought.

What if? What if I took my time and went back to each and every store that was good enough to particiapte – and check them out? What if I actually patronized them, since I was introduced to many of them via this hunt? Continue reading
