Scarlet

Vero Moderno Red

Oh, I do love scarlet, that reddest of reds. The one that cost poor Jezebel her fiance, though what did her father after he named her Jezebel? Does anyone name their daughter Jezebel? The name, forever linked the infamous Phoenician, is usually used as a epithet, not as a name. The name does not exactly have a happy history though it does give you a reason to use the word defenestration. Too bad there wasn’t an opposition press at the time to give us an alternate since her story is so one-sided and partisan that it exemplifies the concept of history being written by the winners. No matter how you feel about Bette Davis’ Jezebel or the original one, you have to love the scarlet red Puma dress from Vero Moderno.

Gidge's Love List:The Good Blondes – PART 1

One of my biggest frustrations around the grid is that some people just make the crappiest blondes on the earth. I don’t know why, maybe blonde is harder to texture than the other colors.
I also know I’m picky, so it’s possible that these blondes are ok and I’m just a snotty princess.
But, I know that all you die hard bloganistas out there are dead set in your likes and dislikes and I admit – this is one of mine.
Cajsa struggles to find that color of RED that is her hearts desire. I am constantly on the look out for new stores that make blonde that is worth a crap.
So many are too brassy. Full bright is on and you can’t turn it off. Some are YELLOW and scary.
Blonde comes in many shades and hues, some found in nature some found in a bottle.
But they can all be beautiful if done right.
So I thought I’d share with you my favorite stores for blonde hair. And yeah, this is gonna take a while, because in terms of blogging it’s not a short list.
In terms of the grid – it’s an INCREDIBLY short list. And – fair warning – it’s only stores that I know of.
To start off – see above – yeah it’s Truth. Continue reading

Of Ball Gowns and Best Friends

As we head into a weekend of parties and swirly dresses I’m pulling out a set that was shot long before Cajsa got sick.
Over on my RL blog I talked yesterday about knowing who you are. (Words of wisdom via Keith Richards). The importance of that struck me as I was muddling through flickr sets trying to decide what to post today.
This picture above, well, that’s who Cajsa and I are.

At least, it’s one facet of the gem of our barbie girls. Continue reading

Gidge's Love List:Tattoo Layer Makeups

Starting with a simple Skin and Makeup From EXILE

I’ve decided to make sweet love next to one of my favorite recent addictions when it comes to making myself pretty, tattoo layer makeups.

Tattoo layer makeups offer one of the greatest sources of diversity of style to us girls and guys since hell, I don’t know what. Since whoever the hell invented SHOES. Maybe since then. Color change script. I dunno what.

Regardless, I love’m. They are my crack and I consume without shame.  So I thought I would bring you three different brands which I am not dubbing the BEST but I am dubbing them really really really really really good. I like’m. That’s editorial. Not review. See how that works?

Now, starting off wearing a very simple pretty skin like Exile’s September in Creme – the minimalist makeup I decided to splash on a whole lotta stuffs. You can get a lot of diversity out of one skin now and it’s WAY fooking cheaper than busying skin.

First up is A-bomb. This is the first tattoo layer makeup I ever wore. So you can blame the A-Bomb girls for starting my habit. This is simple eye makeup but as you can see, it really changes the look. Continue reading
