When I saw the amazing Passage to India dress from Violator, I decided to take the expression “Birds of a feather flock together” to the extreme, adding peacock earrings and hair to the mix. I suppose I could also have added peacock shoes, but a different pair of shoes came to mind. In fact, when I saw the shoes at the Shoe Fair, I said to myself, “Self, now you can finally shoot that wild outfit from Violator!” You see, I finally have shoes wild enough to match the wild energy of the dress.

Porcelain & China
When I saw the delicate tones of the new Baiastice skins in the Porcelain tone coupled with the delicacy of the lace jacket for this DCNY outfit, I knew exactly where I wanted to shoot – in China. Not the China of hustle, bustle and the Great Wall, but the watercolor China that you can find in the magnificent China sim.
This shot gives you just a small idea of the wonderful photographic opportunities you can find in China. I also played a little bit with perspective, using the CTL-8 lens change to the max to give it a shift in perspective.
IFW10 – Lusts of the Flesh
In addition to getting a concentrated does of high fashion and raising funds for charity, events like International Fashion Week also introduce us to new creators – perhaps not new to the grid, but new to us. This IFW10 I discovered more than one new-to-me designer, but only one was also a new-to-me word – Convoitise. So I had to look it up and while it can mean covet or desire, I had to go with the last one for the blog title in light of the micro-mini but macro-sexy dress from Convoitise.
IFW10: White on White on White
One of the exciting finds at IFW10 was Purple Moon’s Uma gown that includes wildly avant garde white hair. That inspired me to multiply the white elements to the ultimate degree. Not only are the clothing and accessories white, but the skin is porcelain, but trumping all that, I used Dare’s White poses. Now, I confess I chose them for the conceit of a multiplicity of White, but also because they are highly editorial and would add to that sensibility for the shoot.
I hopped on over to The Quiet – and found a quiet corner. The starkness of the landscape adds a dramatic element that always draws me in.
Mènage á Trois
Well, don’t tell their spouses and partners, but I think that Saschi Vixen of Adam n Eve, Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice and Chance Greatrex of DARE must have had at least a mental mènage á trois because their creations work together so perfectly. When I saw the Adam n Eve Chrome skin I immediately thought of Baiastice more avant designs with a futuristic edge. Putting them together, I knew I wanted a different aesthetic for the poses than the usual and pulled out DARE’s magnificent homage to the art of Robert Longo. I love what the three create together in the pictures I shot at Omega Point. I shot most of the poses in the set if you care to click through to see the rest.

It's Not White
Chance Greatrex of DARE sent me some poses as a lovely Christmas present – a new set called White. I asked his inspiration and he said the poses were inspired by the color white – that he wanted a couture elegance that was clean and high fashion. That’s from memory, so it’s just a paraphrase. I thought the poses certainly achieved his goal. However, I was wearing this at the time and informed him that his poses work perfectly with red and black as well.
Not Too Shabby
Hybrid Ansar of Not Too Shabby did not know that I just selected a trove of red and black dresses from Modern Gypsy when she gave me this lovely prefab loft for Christmas. But seriously, if she had been reading my mind, she could not have chosen more perfectly. Small lofts like this often make great photo sets, but this one stands out for it’s brilliance as a piece of art. It made me feel so very high concept that I had to pull out my DARE poses – the most high concept poses in Second Life and get all arty with some of the Robert Longo poses and other poses from seminal photographers.
DARE – ing
Last Friday I DJ’ed at Vicious Southside and decided to dress the rocker chick part to the nth degree. When I got around to shooting the photos, though, I could not resist using the fun and avant garde poses from DARE – which means, of course, that I shot a pile of pictures. My outfit was mostly Mimikri – taking the bodice from a dress and mixing with pants and a jacket.
Do You Dare?
Chance Greatrex of DARE makes some amazing poses. He doesn’t have a vast inventory, but instead has created some very specialized poses such as those recreating the art of Richard Longo or these editorial poses from high fashion photographers. They are particularly difficult poses to make and still successfully avoid strange torsions and ugly twisting of the mesh, but he manages to make it work.
When I saw this baby doll nightie at Ardigraf Design Group, I decided that it would be a fun outfit to use for a shoot using his editorial poses since it is too sheer and skimpy to hide pose failures. Besides, I have no idea how many times someone has asked if I knew where to find a nightie…and now at long last, I do.
It happens that posemaker Chance Greatrex posed for my Double Take project as well.
