Carrie Bradshaw said, “The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun.” I suppose I should credit Candice Bushnell, but the words are Carrie’s. If only Carrie could go to Shoetopia to find some really special ones.
Sometimes you just have to say what the fuck, as Ferris told us, and so I am setting up an all new house just about the time I got my old one sorted perfect. I’m redecorating, trying to embrace only putting out new things because old things are old, but I’m struggling a bit.
Why do I procrastinate about doing a clean install? I know that when I crash just by turning or camming or razzing an item, it is time for a clean install, but I delay and try to muddle along, bring my draw distance down to 32 and crashing and getting fed up and closing out of SL for days. I put this outfit on last Sunday and only finally got around to shooting it – AFTER I did a clean install. It’s not like it that hard even.
I know why, though. I am always afraid the new version won’t work and the old version will be gone, lost forever. See my rant on that at “Linden Lab, Don’t Feel My Pain.”
I have also been decorating the beautiful Daylily Cottage from Scarlet Creative for Collabor88. Crashing when I rez things made it a slow process. I really should have done that clean install sooner. Continue reading →
If you are anything like me, you wait a day or two for the fast frenzy of an event opening to slow down a bit. Then, distracted, you forget and start anticipating the next event which you will also defer attending for a day or two. Meanwhile, the first event continues and all of a sudden it is nearly over and you are this [ ] close to missing it. Well, you are that [ ] close to missing Fashion For Life. It ends tomorrow, so go today.
That is where I found this delightful sky blue pink dress from G. Field. It gets all the feminine details just right from the ruffles along the neckline to the softly puffed sleeves to the bow that ties in the back. Add the cherry blossoms that fade into the blue of the sky and it’s just a dream of a dress.
There is no shopping guide this year, so it is a bit tricky to find specific stores. However, there is one way you can always find exactly what you want and exactly where to find it. Go the list of in-world items at Relay For Life’s web site. Here is the link to a database of all the vendors. Select the type of item you are looking for. For example, I wanted to find Essenz shoes for Fashion For Life, so I selected Avatar Shoes and hit Go. This brought up a list.
As you can see, the item name is there, I can mouseover for a picture, and it has info on the team and the price as well. The far left text is hyperlinked to a slur that will take you to the exact spot where you can find the item you want. Continue reading →
So I have been crashing every single time I saved a picture to disk for the last two days, perhaps some new incompatibility arose from upgrading my OS to Yosemite. I will have to figure it out soon, but I didn’t feel like trouble shooting today, so I just save the photos direct to Flickr®. That means these are truly raw photos, not even cropped. I just set the size of the frame inworld and clicked until I got the shot I wanted and so what you see is what you get. As to why it crashes saving to disk but not to Flickr, those are the mysteries of computers and graphics cards and code.
Collabor88’s theme for the month is Miami Electric – featuring the electric tropical colors that bring to mind that sunny city. I have never been to Miami, so all I know about it is from the media. Those aerial shots in CSI Miami make it look like an architectural center of excellence – beautiful and pristine. Real Housewives made it seem less than perfect, let’s say but, of course, the strongest influence on my impression of Miami is the infamous Florida man. Let’s just say Florida man probably does not shop at Collabor88. Continue reading →
I thought Ghostville would be an appropriate place to wear this outfit since I am wearing clothing from a bygone era. Yes, that blouse is a combination of system, prim and sculpts without any mesh components. In fact, it’s an old blouse, one from GField and I did not delete it in the great non-mesh purges of 2012 and 2013. I jest, I guess, though Gidge said I would be thrown out of the Fashion Mafia. The thing is, I love this blouse. It’s beautiful fits well and looks great and I really don’t care what it is made of when it works. I paired with with gorgeous mesh pants from One Bad Pixel in a lovely tone on tone damask.
I am wearing SLink’s natural mesh feet with ISON’s sandals from the July Collabor88 which should be in the store now. The sandals are striking with bold colors and a line of brass studs running up the vamp. They fit well when walking and standing but I discovered while dancing that the movement of dancing will allow the heel to show through the back of the shoe. If you don’t plan on dancing, though, they have no fit issues.
Here is a closer look at the top. I love mesh myself, but really, this looks great and I don’t see any reason to avoid wearing clothing that looks good just because its technology is no longer de riguer.
My hair is from a recent release from Truth and is called Elaine. It has a sweet blue fade at the ends. The jewelry is from Maxi Gossamer and the mesh hands are SLink’s with a fabulous manicure and pedicure from FLAIR.
Glam Affair has gorgeous, fresh-faced skins for Collabor88 this month. I love the color in the cheeks and the subtle eye makeup.
