There’s a Whole Lotta Culture Shock Going On

Selidor

There’s eight full days more of Culture Shock and now that the initial mad rush has subsided, it’s a good time for the more leisurely shopping that comes with fewer people. Also with fewer visitors, the script gate is no more, so you can attend and wear your wizard hud, though you probably would have a better shopping trip without it.

One of the places you must stop by is R.Icielli where there’s jumpsuits and tops and shorts in a ridiculous number of colors and prints. It’s a rainbow and then a rainbow factory on top of it. I hopped over to a lovely sim to snap a few pics. You really have to see to believe the incredible variety.

Confection

Nyu for Ashraya Project

I feel like I am wearing a sugary, sweet confection in this fabulous pink and white ombre dress from Nyu. Nyu is a relatively new store, but one with well-developed fabrication and texturing skills which are evident in this fun and stylish dress. It is the donation item for the Ashraya Project and so is the fabulous posing chair from Behavior Body. Coming in several bright candy colors, the chair is a striking addition to your decor. Even better, it’s full of unique poses and mirrors. The chair is exclusive to the Ashraya Project. There’s no lag at the event, so your shopping will be easy and lag-free.

Color!

Chatkare Culture Shock

I love the bold, color-blocking in Appolonia Criss’s new dress called City Chic. She takes a very mod style and updates it with a blouson top and short, very modern sleeves.

Chatkare Culture Chic

I decided to note the military-inspird sleeves by adding the gauntlets from Nzuri, though most gauntlets don’t have adorable bows at the wrist.

Chatkare Culture Chic

This brilliant and bold color got me looking for a brilliant and bold place to shoot and that led me to the Labyrinth of Absurdity.

It’s Time

Mar20_008

In less than four hours, Fashion For Life will be closing until next year. The vendors will be picked up and the sims will be dismantled and it will all go away, these beautiful builds such as this one that are all part of a monumental annual effort to raise funds in the hope of finding cures for cancer. Cancer is such a tricky bastard; it needs more than one cure. But the cures are possible; they can be found and it will take our concerted effort to find them.

Three Day Weekend

mar08_004

We are taking a short vacation at It’s Only Fashion while our blog migrates to a privately hosted server run by Kesseret Steeplechase. We have been wanting to do this for a long time, but neither of us had the technical fortitude to take it on. This will allow us to do some things we can’t do on regular wordpress which makes us happy. However, that does mean a short vacation while Kess moves stuff and the new DNS percolates through the web. It has me so excited, I jumped for joy. Thank goodness I was wearing mesh!

mar08_010

My dress is from Prizm and the style is called Adele. It comes in different prints and this one is called San Diego Dots. I think is should have been called Torley Scrumptious. While it is rigged and their medium fit my medium standard sized frame, I did have to reduce my upper leg size just a bit to keep my thigh from showing right at the very bottom of the green band below the blouson skirt.

Venezia

dec 16_006

I went to Venice last night and discovered there even more to the City if you walk behind the bridge. How is it that I have been there multiple times and not noticed anything past the tip of my nose? I was probably fixated on how cute my nose looked and could not see past. I wore a gorgeous dress that I popped on earlier when I went to the InMutio extravaganza. Do you always wear clothing by the creator whose show you are going to attend? I sometimes think about it, but generally don’t.  I generally focus on lowering my rendering cost so that I don’t spend so much energy on me that I don’t have any left for the models. With the fabulous backdrop necklace that comes with this sexy little dress from Baiastice, it’s not a low prim dress, but I just took it off and left it at home for the show.

Besides, doesn’t this dress just sizzle. It’s one of Sissy Pessoa’s Christmas Collection and I cannot wait to see the rest of the collection. I haven’t had a chance to look yet what with drooling all over the floor at the show yesterday and working on adding new blogs to Blogging Second Life and trying on white stuff for tonight’s White Ball and generally dawdling and frittering. If you need lessons in dawdling and frittering your time, I’m your girl.

Float like a Butterfly

nov24_003

Applonia Criss of Chantkare has given us a floaty dream of a dress that had me popping over to the Musei di Roma Capitale where there’s this marvelous new exhibition with a hallway all aglow with shifting gold lights and marble columns. With a dress so elegant yet effervescent, I wanted a setting that seemed to have that same brilliant combination.

Black Friday

nov24_013

I come from a town with only one store and I can list everything it sold. Eggs, bread, butter, burgers and fries, hot dogs and onion rings, 3.2 beer and soda, minnows and earthworms and that’s about it, other than renting canoes, boats and cabins. Needless to say, it didn’t have a Black Friday sale. The next town down the road had a gas station and a grocery store though only with the most basic fresh foods. For something so esoteric as, let’s say, broccoli, you would have to drive 50 miles or more. With that background, Black Friday never caught on. I guess that leaves me looking askance at those who wait in line for hours to shop. There’s nothing I want that much.

It's Midnight, do you know where your shadows are?

nov13_004

I usually do not shoot my photos with shadows enabled.  They just are not important enough to me to bother with the hassles.  There’s so many little aggravations associated with it like turning system skirts into solid black in one viewer and losing all my alpha textures in another.  However, the new pose prop from Behavior Body told me it wanted me to shoot it with shadows and when pose props start talking, they cannot be denied. I decided to go with this cute day dress from Indie Rose for the Vintage Fair because the prop told me to go black and white. Give a prop and inch and it will take a mile.

nov13_002

I even found these Lotus Pumps with Dots from Baiastice because there’s no telling what the prop would have done if i could not find some black and white shoes. Of course, I was only speaking with one of the prop’s personalities. It comes with a HUD for communicating with its inner spirit and I could have called up different walls and floor textures and released a completely different character from the prop – there’s even one that probably went to Woodstock and hung out with Jimi Hendrix back in the day.

Now let me show you the dining room…

nov08_003

As you can see, the house comes fully furnished. Here we have the dining room which as you can see includes a large table with ample room for your family and room for more when you entertain. Oh, you like my dress? This old thing? Why, thank you. I declare I like this dress so much it seems like I wear it every day. I recall there was this clothing fair and I picked it up there from, oh let me think, from, from Purple Moon Designs. Yes, that’s the name. Purple Moon Designs. You really must go! You think it has a vintage flair? Really? I think it’s very modern.

nov08_008

Why yes! That is a pipe organ. I think Poppa bought that while traveling in Eastern Europe between the wars. The Iraq Wars? No, I don’t recall any Iraq wars. Between the First and Second World Wars. What else could I have meant? The wine glass? I think there’s something about that glass. My sister might know, but she’s stepped out for the afternoon. Actually, I was hoping we could conclude this business before she returns. She’s quite attached to the old place.
