Visions of Sugar Plums

Plum was a fun color of the 52 week challenge for me. I coulda just thrown on something plum colored but I decided to hunt about both my inventory and the grid for just the look I was looking for to go with this hair from Exile.
It’s called Violet. Which is CLOSE to plum. But, I’m not wearing that color in the hair, cuz that’s how I roll. Continue reading

The Gulf of Lune

nov11_015

I love the colors in the bodice of Paper Couture’s Waves of Silk gown far too much to only wear it as released by the fabulous Lu Sisters. They made a gorgeous ballgown, but I want to wear that top for everyday, too, so I paired it with one of Ingenue’s fabulous pencil skirts. I was once this close to an elk in the woods near my home. I was standing along the trees at the edge of a marshy meadow a lot like this, keeping very still while watching for deer, when an elk stepped out from the brush right next to me. We looked at each other in shock and then he chuffed a little and turned back into the woods.

Then I ran off to the Gulf of Lune to shoot some pictures. You will love this place. It’s a marshland full of wildlife and birdlife – one of the few great places for twitchers in Second Life. I was entranced by the herons. The one event in my life that I would classify as mystical or spiritual was when I was camping at Hell Gate in Montana. It was summer and we decided to roll the sleeping bags out on the dock that extended far out into the reservoir. A breeze on my face woke me about three in the morning and I opened my eyes to see a heron slowly hovering above me, looking at me. He would fly up and glide down so close I could feel the air from his wings. I don’t know how long it lasted, but it felt timeless and as though it could last forever. I was careful not to move or startle him and simply savored this extraordinary blessing.

If the Shoe Fits, Wear It Again & Again

aug09_002.jpg
I love the playful look of the Magnifico Plateau shoes. In particular, the blue ones with that beautiful shade of blue that reminds me of the Melmac dinnerware at my uncle’s cabin on Lake Kabetogama. I suppose associating shoes with dinnerware is a bit odd, but that dinnerware reminds me of family picnics, playing with cousins, tramping through the woods and hours of fun on the lake.  Just about everyone had Melmac dinnerware at their lake cabins because that stuff was indestructible. You know, Mad Max and all the post-apocalyptic survivors may lack for a lot of niceties, but they would still have Melmac. Here I am enjoying some music while wearing a great top from Eldee and capris from artilleri.

The Wheat! The Wheat!

Long ago and far away I read a book  called The Octopus by Frank Norris – a story of the exploitation of the wheat growers of California. It’s central truths, though, were as applicable to the farmers of the Midwest that I knew and their history that lead to the creation of the Grange and the Farmers Union – so I have a soft spot in my heart for that book, even though it is not very well written. One of the most memorable things about the book for me were the occasional bits of expository meanderings that began “The Wheat! The Wheat!” I saw those four words and knew it was here-we-go-again time.  “The Wheat! The Wheat!” has forever been able to send me into a fit of giggles ever since. So, of course, this post featuring the lovey butterdish sim and this glorious combine has that phrase running through my head.

You might wonder what wheat fields and countrified clothing have to do with Adam n Eve’s glorious gold metallic skin  with the face a motherboard must love, but I posit that for a wheat farmer, the techno-riffic skin is a better match than the League’s booty shorts – no matter how cute they are with the paint splatters and the too long pockets. Threshing is dusty scratchy work and anyone operating a combine in their right mind would wear long jeans. Farming, on the other hand, demands an immediacy of information that makes farmers some of the most wired people you can find and that skin is wired.

A Day In The Life of a Very Spoiled Kitty

posted by Gidge Uriza

Yaaaaawn Stretch. Hiyas everyone. You all have Callie Cline to blame for my transformation into the most spoiled kitty on The Grid. I just went over to buy a couple of dresses, but there it was, the tail by Psychotic Neko for Callie Cline and the diamond Nekoture ears…….and I was hooked. Come on, how could I not love something THIS girly?

I thought I’d torture you and make you follow the glammiest, prissiest kitty ever around for a day. There are even two SUPER SPECIAL GUEST STARS in today’s post, but you gotta WAIT for them!

To start our kitty day, we need a bath. NO, we are not afraid of water. As long as the water comes from a fancy roman bath…….quit staring, you bum lookers.

Brrrrrr

Snow has fallen at Embryo and there’s a chill in the air. Nonetheless, it’s an extraordinarily beautiful place to stop  and snap some pictures. Silly me, though, I forgot my coat.

Nothing like fooling around a bit to warm you up. I could not resist the candy cane antlers from Studio Sidhe. They’re adorable and flexible. You can wear them and go shopping and walk around as normal until you feel like surprising your friends with the pose and simply run the animation. Besides, everyone knows laughter warms you up.

1 + 1 = 1

No, I didn’t flunk math, but in this case, take 1 lovely bra and 1 lovely corset and put them together and you get 1 lovely top. The corset is from A Piece of Candy and has such a beautifully intricate fabric – reminding me of Frank Lloyd Wright’s stained glass windows, actually. I really loved the fabric and wanted to show it off, but wanted some straps and frankly, the plain edged top of it just needed a bit of boost. So, trying on some bras that would be just a bit higher to give it an edge, I put on this lovely Casa del Shai bra with a bit of pink lace to pick up the pink in the fabric and I knew I had what I wanted.

One For JC and The Boys

posted by Gidge Uriza

I decided that there was no better casual Sunday look than a big honkin graphic of the lamb of God to wear with some capri’s.  Why I decided this is simple – I put on these cute capri’s from Artilleri and then searched TOP  in my inventory hunting up something new.

Voila.

I actually couldn’t remember what these “JC” shirts were from Lelutka but I figured they might do with the capris. Imagine my giggle when the Lord showed up on them. Continue reading

Elise by Draconic Kiss is one of the many fashions at Crimson Shadow -

I can’t seem to think very well this morning and do want to show you the enormous amount of fun I had deconstructing and playing with a little red dress I picked up at Crimson Shadow. I took a little bit from Naive and Digit Darkes and just had some fun…and put them together and what did I get?

Put ’em together and what have you got

Here the top from Naive's Mooney dress erases every bit of Gothiness. A belt from Artilleri united them.

It’ll do magic believe it or not

Now, toss in Digit Darkes tulle skirt while keeping the short Elise skirt as an overskirt/ruffle and get some real elegance. The DD tulle skirt should be in every wardrobe as it seems to go with anything.
