Oh, the Malice dress from Indyra Originals is quite the twofer. You see, you have a choice of wearing the sheer version (shown) or the opaque version. Feeling like a rocker, I went for the sheer version since it’s not too sheer and is discreet in all the right places. Putting it one, I felt like I was ready to join Joan Jett, Krissy Hynde or Patti Smith and rock out. Well, if I could only sing, that is.

Whole Lotta Shaking Goin' On
I do love polka dots so could not resist the new dress from A-Bomb, especially with such a flirty skirt as this one. The rhinestone belt buckle kicks it up a notch, making it a delightful fun dance dress. It’s definitely one to “shake, baby, shake.”
Rainy Days Are A-Bomb
posted by Gidge Uriza
I shot this a few days ago, when it was still about 12 degrees in the Atlanta Metro. At that time, I couldn’t fathom when I was going to be feeling rainy but here we are this morning with rain pouring down and it’s the perfect time to pull on a cableknit and these Wellies from A-Bomb. Digging in the Closet
IRL my closet is well-organized. Dresses, blouses, skirts are in their sections and all sorted by color – a regular run of ROYGBIV rainbows. Shoes are on the rack. Purses stored in 4 marvelous IKEA shoe and sweater hanger storage shelves and scarves hung on rings on curtain rods on the wall. I try to do the same in Second Life with folders for blouses, dresses, etc. But then it all falls apart because I have one folder for my Review Copies. The thing is, if I put them into my regular inventory, I might forget they were review copies and not credit that in my style notes, so I drop them all in one mad, mad, mad, mad folder. I need a better system. Except, perhaps with a better system I would not have come up with this outfit that I put together by checking out items from stores I have not featured recently.

Dispatches from the PXL Tanning Booth
I wanted to share the new July skin in tan with you. It’s a fabulous tan, bronzed and healthy without a hint of orange. Blue looks gorgeous against a nice tan, so I put on this gorgeous hemp shirt from Phoenix Rising. How exciting that even in SL, sustainable fabrics are gaining in the market. The pants are from A-Bomb and about as fun as pants can be, based on the traditional seaman’s pant, they have been modified to make them more feminine and flattering.
Quick Look:Mimikri – 50L Weekend Madness
posted by Gidge Uriza
Ok so I never did 50L Fridays or 60L Sundays or what have you, until this weekend. And now I’m broke so I hope you bastards are happy. 🙂 Kidding.
Let me first say – the only reason I stepped out for this event, 50L Fridays, were these TIGHTS from SH*T Happens. Ana had announced them on Plurk (hello creators – JOIN PLURK, it’s like fashion on Crack) and I knew if nothing else, I’d make time to pick up a set.
While I was out carousing I got a notice about another event, WEEKEND MADNESS that some creators are participating in and saw Mimikri’s name on the notecard – HELLO! I cannot believe this jacket and skirt was only L$50!
I added a black tank underneath so as not to be TOOO booberiffic and these gorgeous sleek boots from A-Bomb. If you haven’t been to A-Bomb lately – I have to say she makes some of the most fun stuffs around. Definitely worth a stop!

A Lazy Sunday on the Beach
posted by Gidge Uriza
After spending a very cold Saturday in the RL Mountains, I decided I wanted pixel sun and sand on Sunday, so I grabbed my fishin’ pole and headed to Exodi to do a little relaxing fishing.
I gotta go back cuz I didn’t get the whole outfit.
But I digress.
I’ve got this huge closet full of Magi Take clothes because their prices are just so crazy low and their stuffs are cute. So I pulled out a casual sweater and cords and relaxed on Ryker Beck’s island paradise. Continue reading
Houndstooth, Polka Dots and Tiger Stripes, Oh My!
Yes, you can wear Houdstooth, Polka Dots and Tiger Stripes together. It’s a question of scale and tone – not that the patterns conflict. They don’t because they are on the same scale and use the same color palette. When I saw the Houndstooth coat at Muism (which was 50% for their anniversary sale) I had to have it. Such retro chic and the classic lines are something a style icon like Jackie O might have worn over a black or white Oscar de la Renta shift dress. Audrey Hepburn would have worn it over black cigarette pants and a heavy knit sweater. Katherine Hepburn would have worn it over grey wool pants and a white man’s shirt. I saw many outfits in my mind, but I wanted to push it a bit and go with prints. It was pure serendipity that I received a blogger pack from A-Bomb right when I was contemplating my options.
You Gotta Have Hope
This chic ensemble is one of the expansive galaxy of options available when you buy the Rebel Hope Tuxedo – available at Rebel Hope Designs. Yesterday, Rebel Hope was the target of the most brazen content theft I have ever seen. It has been well-covered in Shopping Cart Disco here and here and my goal is not to cover the incident but suggest a way we as a community can show solidarity with the creators and combat content theft.
I am asking fellow bloggers to showcase some of the wonderful Rebel Hope content – gorgeous clothing like this or the homes and furniture and to educate their readers to the fact that content theft hurts all of us. We all reach different readers, so the more that take a few paragraphs to educate their readers, the broader the outreach. Normally I would insert a cut here to shorten the length of this post on the feed. Please indulge my longer post on the feed for this important issue.
Content theft is a constant worry for SL creators whose defensive tactics are constantly trumped by new viewers and stratagems for copying content. Thankfully, many SL residents are sympathetic and disapprove of content theft and actively help by alerting creators to incidents of theft they encounter. Sadly, though, some residents just see it as an opportunity to enjoy free or cheap content and brazenly wear their stolen content or add anti-inspect shields to hide their shame. What they fail to understand is that stolen content affects us all negatively – that those bargains have a cost they do not perceive.
What are the costs? Here’s just a few.
- There’s a few stores that employ irritating anti-theft stuff such as click to prove you’re real dialog boxes, that little bit of chat spam telling copybot to quit, etc. These are minor annoyances, but they slow down and lag our SL experience.
- We all know one or two stores that have closed after being copybotted, discouraged by not only the theft of their hard work, but by the complacency of Linden Labs and the SL community. This means less content and less innovation.
- Costlier products as store owners build into their prices the anticipated early loss of revenue when their products are ripped.
- The annoying presence and hideous lag of anti-inspection devices that people who buy from thieves use to hide their complicity with thieves.
- Suspicion and distrust by store owners who employ tactics to fight theft that impinge on all of us.
- Ban lists that can be misused and abused and even, it seems, hacked.
- Long preachy posts like this one
So, now that we acknowledge that we all pay a price for content theft, what can we do to stop it. First, we can never buy stolen content. Of course, it’s hard to know sometimes if something is stolen, but there’s one neon-bright clue we can follow. If the prices are unrealistic and too good to be true, it’s probably stolen. If someone hands you a free box of hundreds of high quality, contemporary hair styles, it’s probably stolen. Don’t accept it, don’t buy it. Secondly, many newcomers and folks who don’t read blogs are unaware of the problem, so we can tell our friends. If you see someone wearing stolen content, let them know – but in a respectful, nonjudgmental way. Assume they purchased it in innocence and judge their complicity by their reaction to your information. Third, if you see stolen content, send a snapshot and slurl to the creator of the original content so s/he can address it. Sometimes what may appear to be stolen is not, so I would not rush to announce it from the hilltops and instead leave it to the creator to lead the charge. The biggest thing we can do though, is be responsible for our own actions and not wear stolen content.
Last but not least, we can all take a strong step against this sort of brazen and shameless theft that was done solely to inflict personal harm by each and everyone of us making a purchase of the real thing and going to Wildwood and supporting Rebel Hope and RH Engel. This might help sustain them while the recover their business and build new content and also lift their spirits which have taken a hard blow.
