Hunting Zebra on the Serengeti

posted by Gidge Uriza

It would take a special girl, a girl with mad skills, a girl with a certain flair, a girl who made the boys her slave with a wink……..to send them Zebra hunting to make her such and outfit.

A girl with really long legs.

Clearly Digit Darkes knows such girls exist. Girls who roam the savannah in lingerie, waiting for their lover to return with more beautiful zebra – for her ever expanding collection. Continue reading

Ivalde's Blogger Challenge Pt. 2

You and I all know that Ivalde’s clothing is more versatile than the word vintage implies. Now I won’t say you can wear any Ivalde item anywhere – that would be extreme. For example, I would not wear this dress fishing, but I would wear it dancing at the disco. to a cocktail party, at a fundraising event and to a concert. I could wear it today and change the belt and I could have worn it a decade ago – and that’s what classic means.

From Silks to Chic

I was recently passed a couple of outfits from Riviera Couture as a thank you for some dresses I blogged awhile back. One was a lovely set of silks called Bollywood with a full bodice, but flowing silks for a skirt. It was gorgeous with a beautiful teal and royal blue brocade bodice and a gorgeous teal and cerise stola, it’s just the skirt was simply not my style. But then it occurred to me to pair it with a regular skirt and the result was better than I could have expected.

Sn@tch It Up!

posted by Gidge Uriza

When the big stores have their wonderful, huge markdown sales, I always like to take advantage of stocking up on basics. Sn@tch is one of my favorite stores for picking up different things that make great additions to any outfit. I can’t believe, however, that I had never noticed this sweater, scarf comb that I picked up during their L$50 sale. Nutty! Continue reading

Just a VERY Short Update

posted by Gidge Uriza

I just wanted to post a VERY brief update that the beautiful gown posted HERE did not get pulled at 8am 3/1/09 and will instead be retired on 3/2/09 at 8am-ish. So there is still time! It was continued for one more day.

So – all fashion details on original post. I’m off to bed pretty girls!

Posermaker Appreciation: Reel Expression

Achariya suggested last week that we highlight our favorite posemaker. It’s hard to do because there are so many great ones, and that is why I have dawdled. Still, if I have to choose only one, that one must be Luth Brodie of Reel Expression.

Timeless

Many people think of vintage clothing as costume clothing – but a smart fashionista buys vintage that is classic in form and fabric so that it’s timeless and always chic. As Chanel once said, “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” Illustrating that idea, I borrowed the top from a 1950’s Ivalde and combined it with a very 80’s pair of pants from &Bean for a completely contemporary look.

Look What You Are Missing……An It's Only Fashion PSA

posted by Gidge Uriza

So due to flickr being my nemesis, I failed in my mission to get this dress posted before it was retired. Therefore – I’m sort of taunting you here today. But I wanted to share some important, fun info that might be important to you if you are a ball gown lovin’ fashionista on a budget.

Lemania Indigo is daily/weekly and MONTHLY now bringing free/dollarbie gowns which she is retiring plus some other themed goodies to her Group Members.  Lemania is known for her big, nutty/fairytale ball gowns that run the gamut from fantasy to ultra-modern – so there is something for everyone’s taste. Date Night FUNKY!

posted by Gidge Uriza

This was originally a completely different outfit. I had these pants which were BRILLIANT! One leg pink, one leg turquoise and these sneakers that were each the opposite color and it was BAM cool.

However, something went wonky every time I wore the pants for about two minutes, THEY LOST THEIR TEXTURE.

I have no idea, I need to file a JIRA unless someone knows WHY that happens and how to fix it. And yes I rebaked and that did NOT help nuttin. Continue reading

Fear & Clothing

A friend of mine is taking a year off to live on the Pacific Coast of Mexico – for some sun, surfing and reflection – and asked for some book recommendations. Since I had put on these pants from Fear & Clothing, my first thought was a list of Hunter S. Thompson books. I really love the tartan pants from Fear & Clothing. They come in great colors such as this bold yellow and orange. I also pulled out my Spring Turtleneck from last Spring‘s collection from Aoharu. These turtlenecks have been on of my best investments and I wear them often.
