Brrrrrr

Snow has fallen at Embryo and there’s a chill in the air. Nonetheless, it’s an extraordinarily beautiful place to stop  and snap some pictures. Silly me, though, I forgot my coat.

Nothing like fooling around a bit to warm you up. I could not resist the candy cane antlers from Studio Sidhe. They’re adorable and flexible. You can wear them and go shopping and walk around as normal until you feel like surprising your friends with the pose and simply run the animation. Besides, everyone knows laughter warms you up.

It's a Wonderful Night

It’s a wonderful night
You’ve gotta take it from me.
It’s a wonderful night
Come on and break it on down

I love this outfit I put together using part of the Rock Top mini dress from +plus and the asymmetrical skirt from CoCo. It’s a great dance party outfit and deserves a hot night on the dance floor. The top has gorgeous silver studs on the sleeves and a prim chain attaching at the neckline. With such great embellishments, I didn’t feel a necklace was needed at all.

Puttin' on the Ritz

Different types who wear a day coat, pants with stripes
and cutaway coat, perfect fits,
Puttin’ on the ritz.

Now seriously, does anything say puttin’ on the ritz like a tuxedo. Granted, most tuxedos do have a shirt underneath – but you know what rhymes with ritz. Anyway, the lovely Tuxedo Jacket and highwaisted tuxedo pants are from CoCo – a store that always seems to surprise and delight.

They say you lose 45% of body heat through your head…

This Hymn dress from MiaMai makes me smile. At first blush, with that cozy, cuddly hood it looks all warm and snuggly. Then of course, there’s the plunge, or more accurately the two plunges as the back plunges even lower than the front. Let’s just say Mrs. Claus might feel a brisk wind or two. This dress certainly seems designed on the principle of conserving body heat by covering up the head.  Now, of course, it’s a myth that you lose more heat through your head than any other part of your body. When those tests were done in the 50’s they were comparing  lost heat with people wearing winter survival gear but no hats – not people unclothed everywhere.  Oops!

Some Ting Chinese

posted by Gidge Uriza

I got the sweetest notecard a week ago, asking me if I minded if they sent over a couple of chinese costumes for me to look at and possibly blog. I said sure and made a note when they came over.

I got a landmark – but no store name.

However, I tried on this TING ensemble and thought it was cute – you guys know I love Asian influence and this one comes with the hair and the shoes (that are as different as the cowgirl boots canada) so I decided to find the name of the store and blog it.

Except, I couldn’t figure it out. The creators info is all in Chinese. The store is a kiosk on top of a huge build.

So here is what I know – you can get this cute outfit and other Chinese costumes HERE. The name of the store MIGHT be Tian Xia Hu or that might just be the whole shopping complex. I have no idea. Continue reading

Tutorial: Inconvenient Prims & How to Hide Them.

When I first framed this photo in Second Life, there were a few prims that just were not where I wanted them to be. Now there are several ways I could have dealt with those inconvenient prims. I could have spent 30 minutes or so cloning and painting and liquifying in PhotoShop to paint them out of the picture. I could have made a copy of the hair and shoved them inside my head or outside the picture frame. However, I opted for the much easier strategy of simply hiding them or more accurately not rendering them. Unfortunately, not everyone knows about this little trick and so they work much too hard. This short tutorial is to introduce you to the best time save on the grid.

Out of the Ashes

This lovely and evocative outfit from Stylissimo is called Out of the Ashes – and of course, you can see the small red flame bursting out of the gray ashes of the gauzy moire top.  Several designers produce these gathered sculptie tops – their RL counterparts being quite fashionable at the moment. Most however, show less restraint and our form is lost in an explosion of gathers and poufs. Here, using fewer pieces, the sculpts contour to the shape beautifully and remain feminine and flattering.

COCO Christmas

I love plaid and this plaid skirt from COCO is delectable. This is the Royal Stewart tartan and is one of my favorites.  The asymmetrical skirt is one of the best sculptie skirts I have every seen and looks great walking, posing and dancing – the ultimate sculptie skirt test.  The blouse is a present I received last year – a lovely woman’s shirt from Alphamale.
