For Gabor Sisters Everywhere….

Back before there were gay people (wink), my Uncle George was a CONFIRMED OLD BACHELOR. I don’t know if you are old enough to have ever KNOWN a CONFIRMED OLD BACHELOR, but they are men of a certain age who never married. They tend to live alone or with a “friend” who is a border or roommate. They often travel together.

My Uncle George was such a Confirmed Old Bachelor.

He traveled to Cuba to gamble in the 30s and flew to South America to travel the Amazon with his friend Hal. They also loved to visit San Francisco. They lived for a while in Los Angeles where Uncle George was a hairstylist at “FOX” as he would say. He worked there through the war and beyond, only returning home when he had a huge novel of delicious Hollywood gossip and intrigue he could share when you visited him.

And he love love loved the Gabor sisters. ALL OF THEM. Continue reading

Double Take: A Balancing Act

apr12_007
One of the exciting things about fashion is the way you can shift the entire mood of an outfit just by changing a few accessories. I thought I might add a new “feature” occasionally taking one outfit and giving it two looks. I am starting out with the Brio dress from Chantkare. I love the bold graphic look of this dress with the over-sized collar, bell sleeves and the bold stripes. I first selected accessories that emphasized its clean, modern lines.

I chose some soft and feminine accessories that would change the focus, adding a softer, more romantic element that still honors the modern graphic style of the dress.

I shot the pics at Camomile – home of tram where I bought some of the accessories I use to set the mood for the two looks. There’s a chair outside the store with a fun balancing animation that distracted me until i decided to just go ahead and use it in the shoot – after all, fashion is often a balancing act between moderation and exuberant extravagance.

Don't you just love Spring Sales???

Hiya!

As you shopping maniacs might have noticed, on SL Spring brings lots of sales and fashion events, I wish this could happen in RL too^^  Anyway, like a crazy bee attracted to the tastier pollen ever, I’ve been floating around some of my fav stores that are having sales these days and I got such cuuuuute stuff at such gooood prices that I can’t help but suggest you to take advantage of these sales too.

Here’s part of the items I purchased:

Lemme pose

The lovely hair is from fri.day, I love the way the loose ponytail rests on the shoulder, it looks so realistic. The dress is from Kyoot, it’s being sold in different textures, I chose this one ‘cause I find it really sweet and springy at the same time 🙂   The Spring sale at Kyoot should be over now, check anyway or buy anyway…heheheh.

Get it?

These boots from COCO are all over the feeds, it’s the first item I obviously purchased at The Dressing Room which is celebrating its first anniversary, and I matched them with the awesome hoodie from Grixdale, the jean mini-skirt from Berries Inc. and the top from Kyoot. Interesting outfit, don’t you think so? 😛

World's End

apr11_007
I went to the World’s End last night and contrary to most apocalyptic movies, it was lovely. Dressing for the world’s end is a tricky business – do you want to get all Mad Max and ready for anything or do you want to hold fast to your own aesthetic and be at ease? I don’t know the best choice for every world’s end scenario, but for the World’s End build in Second Life, this feminine, soft pastel print dress from e!, or Eclectic Apparel and Accessories.

WideWorld Paradise

WideWorld Paradise
I made a trip to WideWorld Paradise – an sim exploring surrealist art – and think I could spend hours exploring its features. When I saw this gorgeous blue tunnel with orange peacock trees, I decided to wear the blue version of the Samuela dress from LaLei. The cross-banded sequins give it a nice modern look, especially with the bit of exposed midriff. It comes in six colors, pastel pink, blue and green and cream, gold and silver.
WideWorld Paradise
Isn’t the setting gorgeous? When you teleport into WideWorld Paradise, you are offered several places to teleport to, but don’t rely on just that. There are surprises for the intrepid explorer.

Endymion

The dress is Blossom from Rock Me Amadeus. The shrug is from Little Rebel which has closed.

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its lovliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.

A dress called Blossom has to be shot among the flowers

Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,

Where Sailors Fear To Tread…

I was going to invite all of you into the caverns that Mermaid Gidge calls home, but then I realized you were depending on that thing called oxygen. Why you’d turn blue and float to the top.

And then you’d be no fun to play with at all. Well, a little fun.

So it’ll be a photo-safari instead. Are you ready? Then follow me. Continue reading

Shiki Shiki Retro Pop

apr08_013

High-waisted pants, sleeveless print tops, narrow belts – all are iconic fashions of the 1960s. Shinichi Mathy of Shiki Designs, though, gives them contemporary punch with his bright, saturated colors and shine in the Esme pants outfit. The pink in those pants is pure 2011.
