Where's the Snow?

jan13_005

Since Thursday the weather forecast has been filled with breathless anticipation of snowfall and every commercial break has had a promo about preparing for snow. About 11 pm last night there was giddy live coverage of a few flakes falling over at Mt. Scott, one of the higher elevations in the city. They even zoomed in to show that a piece of wood actually had some white cover of unmelted snow. I went to sleep before any snow fell in my neighborhood and checking out the window this morning, whatever snow that may have fallen is all melted away. Coming from Minnesota, I always am entertained by local weather coverage of snow, but this was the ultimate in much ado about nothing.

Besides, if I want snow, I can just hop around the grid and find some snow. In fact, I just took a peak at French travel blogger Karro Lean’s Winter Collection post and hopped on over to Y&R to snap some pics. The store had moved, but they left a landmark. Now, none of my outfit from today’s post comes from Y&R, but being drawn to their store to shoot a few pictures, I naturally went shopping and you can see the results in Gidge’s post from yesterday and another that is coming. For this, though, I was bundled up and ready for snow! As you can see, I have a fabulous thermal knit ribbed sweater from SAKIDE and over that a huge, thick, warm cable-knit sweater poncho from Baiastice. I was loaded for bear, as they say.

It's Too Big

1216_006

Gidge has had been having me help around the store, hauling stuff over from the old one, dusting, doing some touch up on the walls where movers scraped the paint and helping with the unpacking. It’s a messy job with lots of running in and out of the building over to where her merchandise was piled up in the snow. It made sense to dress for the occasion in this warm and snuggly fleece from Aitui. I tossed on some old jeans from Zaara that I know are a few years old and all, but hey, when you are bending down and hauling crap around, you need comfortable jeans with some give, the kind of give that only comes from wearing them for a few years, right?

But then she traipses off to ride a pink turtle or pig or elephant or some such thing leaving me to manhandle the last few items into place. Seriously, did she think I could move that globe by myself? It’s Too Big!!! So, I got on the phone, so to speak, and called up Hybie who, good friend that she is, came over to lend a hand no questions ask. She helped wrestle that globe from the crate into the store and didn’t even complain about how cold she must have been feeling in those sandals. She was wearing the new dress from Maitreya. It was the first I had seen it in-world. It so lives up to expectations. As you can see, my feet were far more cozy in these wonderfully warm and dry boots from FIR & MNA.

Pondering

Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint you can on it.”
(Danny Kaye)

I was pondering this quote while exploring a new to me sim, full of amazing spots, so I thought “I’ll take a picture!” and that’s what I did. I liked the shot so much that I decided to add some “canvas action” to it, whatever that means…LOL

Pondering

Then I thought (yeah…lots of pondering and thinking lately….someone stop me, please!) that my look of the day was so cute it would have been too selfish of me not to share the cuteness (…..) , soooo here I am, showing you what I’m wearing.

Here i am!

The awesome boho dress is from vive9, I absolutely dig that vintage style, it’s what I would wear in RL too.
The lace part is so delicate and romantic, but what really makes the difference is the belt which adds that particular touch of fashionista glamour.

An Investment Dress

sep25_004

The Shimmy Dress from ICING is one of those wardrobe foundations that you can build a wardrobe around. It has all the hallmarks of an investment dress – a classic silhouette that is never out of style, multiple layer options to coordinate with other clothing, colors that work in every season, and quality construction that is deceptively simple. These are qualities that make a dress take on a different mood as its styled with different accessories.

This is the dress for the quick change artist in you. In this post I will show you how easy it is to take a good investment dress and make several looks from high fashion to funky bohemian to vintage classic, all with a few accessory changes. Don’t for a second think this was all, either. I had several other possibilities in mind, but thought five was more than enough to make the case for this investment dress.  There are many investment pieces out there. While not making it an official “challenge” I would love to see what ideas you have for investment purchases that build a versatile wardrobe.

Getting out of the studio

sep04_006

Having spent the past week watching runway shows and snapping pics mainly in my Glow Box, it was fun to get out of the studio and snap pics in-world again. You will be seeing them soon, these were shot on the 4th before Modavia Fashion Week and busy, busy, busy days. I love the casual outfit and the gorgeous top from Malt and have been eager to share it with you.

Oh…the smell of vinyl record shops!

Hiya!
Hope everyone is doing good 🙂

Virtual Decay has always been one of my favourite sims ever, I used to hang out a lot at the old location to take snaps at the amazing industrial/post apocalyptic town with its fantastic buildings, streets and structures created by the talented Maddison Mokeev. The Record Store was the place I liked the most. I still do, even though VD got a new location now, the old town doesn’t exist anymore, but the rez area gives you the chance to explore all the buildings on sale and one of them is, oh yeah, The Record Store.

Peace, bro!

I love its vintage atmosphere as much as I love hanging out at some old vinyl record shops in RL. Oh…the smell of vinyl record shops!

So I went to VD to take some shots at The Record Store and I thought I might wear something appropriate to the atmosphere. Hope you like it 🙂

Love the smell of vinyl record shops

Sharif Don't Like It

jul23_008

I am wearing a choli, camisole and skirt from BoHo HoBo - an amazing new-to-me store.

Now the king told the boogie men
You have to let that raga drop
The oil down the desert way
Has been shakin’ to the top
The sheik he drove his Cadillac
He went a-cruisin’ down the ville
The muezzin was a’ standing
On the radiator grille

The sharif don’t like it
Rockin’ the Casbah
Rock the Casbah
The sharif don’t like it
Rockin’ the Casbah
Rock the Casbah

jul23_004

Inspired by Elle Couerblanc's pics at KoinUp, I took a trip to Tajuk Oasis for the pictures. You must wear a hug and a tag to travel there since it is a Gor sim. I happened by when it was pretty empty.

By order of the prophet
We ban that boogie sound
Degenerate the faithful
With that crazy Casbah sound
But the Bedouin they brought out
The electric camel drum
The local guitar picker
Got his guitar picking thumb
As soon as the sharif
Had cleared the square
They began to wail

The sharif don’t like it
Rockin’ the Casbah
Rock the Casbah
The sharif don’t like it
Rockin’ the Casbah
Rock the Casbah
