Saturday Night… Dancin' and Bloggin'

Every Saturday night, Miss Luci spins the Blues at a fun club, Junkyard Blues, and Gracee and Gala accompany her as Miss Luci’s posse.  Well, every week we get a new outfit (matching of course), so I figured, I might as well blog what we get and post a few pictures of us having so much fun!

Retro Pop

Building by Iota Ultsch

Hair Fair has opened with around 100 different hair designers selling oodles of hair to raise money for Wigs for Kids. Every single hair style sold at Hair Fair sends a portion of the proceeds to the charity. So why am I posing with 2007 hair? Well, I am busy sorting the hair fair styles into long, medium, short and other types of styles for some upcoming mega-posts. I also want to remind everyone that just because something is old, doesn’t mean it isn’t great Certainly this dress from Lost Dreams called Retro Red may be retro, but it’s hot and stylish.

Purple Monkey Dishwasher

may21_021

Struggling to come up with a name for this 2451st post was keeping me from getting this done, but I remembered a few months back that someone had asked for blog post title suggestions. AS you can see, such suggestions need not make sense. This one came from Darkley Aeon, the Guerilla Avatar. I guess if I had a purple monkey, I would train him to do the dishes. Doing dishes is one of my least favorite tasks, mainly because I am one of those people, you know the ones that get water down the front of the shirt and on the floor while washing a plate, a cup and a spoon. I can splash my face and get soap in my eye when doing a sinkful of dishes which is why I tend to wash dishes 6 times a day – everytime I dirty a dish. So, if you have a purple monkey in need of a home, send him my way. I am sure he could wash dishes better than me. But could he style this outfit? I don’t think so. I think any monkey that allowed himself to be purple-ized would just make a hash out of styling anything but rainbows and butterflies.

I went over to Milvus to investigate ater reading about it in the Destination Guide. It looks amazing and I will definitely go back for more picture taking soon. It was near the top of the list in the Destination Guide so I was not the only one checking it out. It was quite busy – so I found a quiet corner for my snaps and stored the bookmark with a promise to go back soon.

Molly Gets Jake!

Why that title?

It’s the name of one of the outfits I’m going to show you in this post and it caught my attention from the moment I read Ivey Deschanel’s notecard some weeks ago. Yes, Ivey Deschanel. Yes, this post is all about Sn@tch 😉  I know this brand since my early days in SL and I absolutely love Ivey’s talent and originality. Herself too, ‘cause she’s crazy 😀
So here’s a few items available at the Sn@tch store, but – trust me – there’s so much more to see and to drool over. As you might already know, all Sn@tch products always come in different color packs and the prices are totally affordable.

Golden Swirl
Look at this boho skirt with flexy ruffles all around (I immediately fell for it!), it comes in 7 colors and I paired it with one of cutest tube tops I ever seen. You can choose to purchase these tops in the sheer ribbed version or in the desaturated velvet one, each pack contains 8 colors.

Oh yeah, i'm cool!
In the picture above we have the butch tank top which comes in 9 colors and it’s available in the solid and sheer versions. I paired the top with these rolled up belted jeans, so lovely and so vintage, they come in 8 colors. And look at the shoes: I dig them so much! Just click on them and you get 35 texture options, 27 color tints and, obviously, tons of possible combinations.

Summer Days

apr26_013

It’s not summer in real life yet, but in Second Life it’s always summer (or winter, fall or spring) when you want summer. When I saw these adorable shorts from Zaara I knew I wanted to take a spin out on the Linden Ocean and luckily the new MiaMai top for Culture Shock was a great option to wear with the shorts.

apr26_001

On my second or third day in Second Life, I went to Enkythings and bought this old boat for one linden. It is one of my favorite purchases. I have taken it out and boated around the Linden Ocean since the beginning. My first home was a rental on the Ocean and then I bought 512 at Glookbone in November 2007 and have had land there ever since so I could go boating. There are fancier boats that react to the Linden winds and require you to do more than point, but they’re not for me. I don’t want to have to do much more than point and go there.

The Burlington Northern Don't Stop Here Anymore

mar31_005
As soon as I played this pose animation from Status, I was reminded of countless weekend afternoons spent playing with my nieces down in the pasture. We would ride horses or walk down to Ruffy Brook and after semi-swimming (the deepest spot was about 4 feet deep) we would walk the rails. There was a railroad trestle that crossed a deep ravine over the brook and we would put our ears down and listen for trains. If we heard nothing, we would walk across the trestle. It was always exciting because you could see through the railroad ties and could scare yourself with thoughts of stepping wrong and having one leg fall through the ties or with thoughts of oncoming trains or even of slipping off the rails and falling down into the ravine. Of course, none of those things ever happened. As we got older, we got bolder and would ride horse across the trestle which goes to show that a well-trained horse can be just as idiotic as the person riding him.

Sadly, my nieces children won’t get that same visceral thrill of imminent, but unlikely, death by train as Burlington Northern closed that line. Of course, that makes me think of Jean Richie’s mournful song, The L&N Don’t Stop Here Anymore, that tells how the loss of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad closed the mines and impoverished the people of Hazard, Kentucky. When the Burlington Northern shut down jobs were lost throughout the northern counties of Minnesota. Thanks to the stimulus, unemployment is at a 10 year low of 17%. I know that’s much higher than most places but it was near 30% when I still lived there. It sounds dire, but country folk have more ways to make do than people in cities. And to be completely honest, wild asparagus is much tastier than regular asparagus.

Never thought I’d live to lean to love the coaldust
Never thought I’d pray to hear those temples roar
But God I wish the grass would turn to money
And then them greenbacks would fill my pockets once more
I was born and raised at the mouth of the Hazard Holler
Where the coal cars rolled and rumbled past my door
But now they stand in a rusty road of all empties
Because the L & N don’t stop here anymore

What Goes With Pig Ear Glasses?

…anything I want.

Elusyve and I got various fun glasses at Kik the other night and my own favorite are the pig ear glasses.
I used to have an aunt who was forever buying me shirts and sweatshirts with farm animals on them.
I’m not sure why she thought I would want or would wear such a thing.
But, if she’d have come up with pig ear glasses, that’d have been a win. Continue reading
