As Christmas draws to a close and we head toward New Year’s, there will be a lot of holiday parties looking toward the coming year. Perhaps a traditional Black & White ball on New Year’s Eve? If so, this is a lovely dress for that, simple and seasonal, with understated elegance. It’s from Pretty Magic and is wisely sold separately from the witch hat and cape that goes with it.

The logowear conundrum is one that I tend to avoid because it reeks of poorly made freebies most of the time. But when it’s not – it can be a lot of fun. Digit’s logo is great in big rhinestones – it makes me think of the 80s when the name on your butt defined which table you could sit at during lunch. Continue reading

I’ve been seeing ads for different pieces at REALE come across the feeds for a while, but my machine keeps acting up lately when I try to TP so I’ve been going less far off places. I’m a Kevin Bacon game geek. Yes, I still like to play it. It makes me laugh, because I always have my “ringer” I like to pull out – to wow others with my incredible geek-i-tude. Why, you might ask me, am I sharing this with you – wearing this gorgeous dress by Clio – Pret a Porter?
I guess I just finally decided that I should have some Holiday Spirit and let all of you achieve this same level of dork at parties. Actually, most people are usually fairly stunned when you pull this one off because it’s so obscure.
If you don’t know – the Kevin Bacon Game works like this – all movie stars can be linked to Kevin Bacon in less than 6 degrees of separation. So you say “Link Madonna to Kevin Bacon” and I say “Oh that’s EASY! Madonna was in Vision Quest with Forest Whitaker who was in The Air I Breathe with KEVIN BACON”. Continue reading

I received this dress in a folder of review items from ChantKare owner/designer Applonia Criss. In the folder she noted the inspiration for her gowns which was such an interesting touch. For example, this dress was inspired by a vase. Chantkare opened in August and as a new store, there’s not a lot of outfits, but every one is something new, different and lovingly made. For me, the rich colors and beautiful textures make this a compelling and wonderful gown.
I suppose since this was not shot at the State Department, Foggy Bottom is a bad name, but it’s what comes to mind. This is actually shot right behind MDR’s studio on our new sim in the Autumn section. In Autumn you can find corn and wheat fields, a wooded forest of fall color or this spooky, scary little bit of mossy, foggy bottomland which I thought a perfect setting for a dress called the Burton dress. From True La La, the Burton dress is suitably macabre for the setting.
How could I not fall in love with this scarf from the incomparable Zaara? First, it’s peach and that shade of peach that flatters every skin tone in the world. Yes, there are colors that do flatter every skin tone with no reference to winter, spring, summer or fall. They are mid-tones, neither too warm nor too cool and include eggplant, teal, true red and peach/rose. To see how well peach works on all skin tones, you can see 15 women in peach here.
It’s a tough question and ably answered by Iota Ultsch of Tres Jolie in this marvelous dress of Guipure lace with the eponymous name Guipure. I love the beautifully balanced handdrawn lace textures in the bodice, glitch pants and skirt. This dress is all lace from top to toe.
