GoldBlooded

I adore the name of the bracelets and earrings I am wearing today. They are by Ganked for the Accessory Fair and are called Goldblooded – and with that blood orange color, they seriously could not have a more clever name if a panel of naming experts had been convened. I am wearing them with a dress from Sysy Chapman that I picked up at her RFL Clothing Fair booth that really shows off the jewelry. The necklace from the set was not such a good fit with this bodice, so I opted for one from Couture Tres Chapeau that almost becomes an extension of the dress.

The Sum of All Things (plus a fitting tip)

The next highlight from the Accessory Fair is from Sigma. Sigma happens to be one of my favorite Greek letters – as mathematically it is the sign for summing everything that follows. It iis the Sum of All Things – now doesn’t that sound powerful and important?  Such a significant name is justified by the unique statement jewelry from Sigma. The details are right, the elements are organic and natural and the designs are modern and powerful. I think that pretty much sums up the parts of comtemporary jewelry making that make a whole greater than the sum of its parts.  Of course, great jewelry deserves great clothing and this is no exception.

Making It Work

When I saw the Hydra necklace from Rozoregalia I knew exactly the sort of dress I wanted to wear with it and began casually looking around for something. The search became more urgent when designer Yumi Pausch released the Hydra Handrings for the Accessory Fair. I knew I had to find what I wanted – a black formal with a narrow silhouette and sheer upper bodice that would draw your eye from the black of the dress to the powerful statement necklace. Seriously, when dressing with jewelry this strong, you want to do it justice.

Spring Breaks Softly

Spring is edging its way into our lives. In the courtyard, the magnolias and dogwood are blooming and in Second Life, well in Second Life for many it’s perpetual summer, but sometimes we let a little seasonal luster into our lives – particularly in fashion. That’s why when featuring two new items from the Accessory Fair, I decided to go with the very spring-centric Olethea dress from Lelutka.

Bright Lights

The next highlight from the Accessory Fair is Ganked – a store that took the feed by storm a few weeks ago with bold, contemporary large necklaces in abstract shapes. Their creationa for the Accessory Fair  are equally bold and attention-grabbing – including this gorgeous yellow set called Broadway Lights. This is actually a freebie being offered by them at the Accessory Fair.

Hot Fun in the Summer Sun

A few weeks ago, Jon Stewart did a typically hilarious bit that looked at the silliness in the news regarding the Unusually Large Snowstorm on the East Coast.  Of course, like the pundits who confuse weather with climate, there was Jason Jones insisting that the snow proved that global warming was not a problem, meanwhile down in Austalia, there was Sam Bee saying that of course there was global warming, it’s 96 degrees in February! It’s a funny piece and well worth watching. Of course, it slips my mind from time to time that lots of folks in Second Life® are from the southern hemisphere and enjoying warm and sunny days. We get little reminders, though, from time to time like this lovely summery dress from Kunglers – South American designers who I hope are enjoying hot fun in the summer sun.

It's Not Raining in SL

Oregon weather is so consistent. It’s warm and pleasant and dry for the summer and it’s cloudy, rainy and cool in the winter. It comes in two flavors and the one that’s on tap right now is not weather for this dress. Luckily, in SL I can be in any climate I feel like with a quick teleport from spot to spot. Snow, rain, tropics or jungles, deserts or forests, cities or castles – what you want you can find.  So, when I saw the lovely new Poppy skirt at Sugarcube I did not hesitate to pair it with a very summery top from So Many Styles.

I made the tiniest of concessions to reality by adding a short little velvet shrug from Adam n Eve, but seriously, if your jacket does not cover your midriff – it’s worn for fashion, not function. And clearly, fashion leads the way with that lovely silver embroidery and the adorable little hood. The jewelry is from Puarangi Design – though I have had this set so long it’s labeled Hi-Flo from the stores old name.

Happy Valentine's Day

I am not feeling full of the hearts and flowers sentimentality of Valentine’s Day this year, but I do recognize that it always inspires a lot of fun and creative designs and most importantly, an excuse to party. I have not been feeling too well this week so I  have not stayed online long enough to do anything more than shoot some pictures. So no partying for me, but if I had been in the mood for a party last night, I would definitely have worn this dress.
