It is what it is

may25_006

Today’s blog post title comes from Mouse Mimistrobell of Dark Mouse fame. It works for this post because rather than attempting to explain the surrealist dreamscape that you find at Daytime Dreams where I shot the pictures, sometimes it just makes more sense to say “It is what it is” and simply enjoy the whimsical beauty without seeking any deeper meaning.

I added several pictures from the sim to Sasy Scarborough’s Second Life Stock Images Pool. Sometimes people prefer shooting in a studio and adding the background later. This is a source for great backgrounds from within SL.

Dream Logic

may24_004

My post title comes to you courtesy of Kerryth Tarantal. It’s a good choice because this dress from Sysy’s looks like a dream incarnate. While my family lived in the Northwoods of northern Minnesota, my sister lived in the Red River Valley where it’s so flat you can see the shore of Lake Agassiz from miles away as though it were some huge land formation. There’s even a viewpoint for drivers to pull over and marvel at this 8 foot “cliff” marking the shore. Lake Agassiz would be the largest lake in the world if it still existed – and that flat plain that is its former lakebed created a vast, flat plain of rich farmland. The thing is when an 8 foot lake edge is the most significant land mass for hundreds of miles, people tend to focus on the sky. And the vistas in the sky are amazing – the Northern Lights are definitely the Queen of the Sky Pageant, but Sky Blue Pink is First Runner Up. Sysy somehow managed to create a dress of Sky Blue Pink – that illusive color that we all know but struggle to define. I got the dress at Shoe Fair.

This set was shot at ImagiLearning Lowlands – one of the many gorgeous Imagilearning sims. The sky is a glorious Sky Blue Pink thanks to a windlight setting Gidge made and gave to me. You will have to hit her up for the NC of the setting.

Mother, May I?

may24_032

This blog title was brought to you courtesy of boyo on Plurk. When I asked for blog title ideas last night, I got a few and I am going to use them. Besides, it sort of fits with the intrepid Toonip Bloom I have sent off exploring today. Exploring Second Life is one thing, exploring islands with pirates! is another. But intrepid Toonip is intrepid and heads off without a worry or without asking, “Mother, may I?” Of course, it’s easy to feel intrepid when you’re looking all sweet and wonderful in Neferia’s Abel’s newest collection for L’Abel.

By the way, I am playing hooky to go exploring. You see, there’s a new feed in town and so I decided to lope off and play hooky so I could tell you about it. It’s the SL Style Academy and there are new-to-me bloggers on the feed, which is always a plus. It has a fun conceit and I love that they stick with it in their feed design.

Add the fabulous Coral Frills pump from S@bbia which can be found at the Shoe Fair, and you’re unstoppable. I am using some more of the Bent! poses made specially for the Bloom dolls.

Purple Monkey Dishwasher

may21_021

Struggling to come up with a name for this 2451st post was keeping me from getting this done, but I remembered a few months back that someone had asked for blog post title suggestions. AS you can see, such suggestions need not make sense. This one came from Darkley Aeon, the Guerilla Avatar. I guess if I had a purple monkey, I would train him to do the dishes. Doing dishes is one of my least favorite tasks, mainly because I am one of those people, you know the ones that get water down the front of the shirt and on the floor while washing a plate, a cup and a spoon. I can splash my face and get soap in my eye when doing a sinkful of dishes which is why I tend to wash dishes 6 times a day – everytime I dirty a dish. So, if you have a purple monkey in need of a home, send him my way. I am sure he could wash dishes better than me. But could he style this outfit? I don’t think so. I think any monkey that allowed himself to be purple-ized would just make a hash out of styling anything but rainbows and butterflies.

I went over to Milvus to investigate ater reading about it in the Destination Guide. It looks amazing and I will definitely go back for more picture taking soon. It was near the top of the list in the Destination Guide so I was not the only one checking it out. It was quite busy – so I found a quiet corner for my snaps and stored the bookmark with a promise to go back soon.

This orangeous look of mine :D

First came the shoes.

My lovely wedges
These adorable wedges shoes from ANEXX immediately caught my attention when I first visited the Shoe Fair. It’s the famous StrapWedgeBootee model in an exclusive and super-cute mix of colors: a percentage of sales will be donated to the Soles4Souls charity.

I decided to create a whole look starting from those shoes and here’s what came out:

Shiryu of Shiki Designs has released a new collection featuring bold tropical colors and prints. This collection takes on the idea that island fashion limited to bikinis, board shorts and baggy prints shirts. These are chic designs that incorporate the insouciant spirit of the Hawaiian print shirt, but with a sexy, chic aesthetic. So, it’s totally perfect that this piece from the collection is called Honolulu Chic.

Traveling in Bloom

may20_001

Wearing the Son of a Gun Vintage Doll dress from Grixdale, it seemed like a great outfit to go somewhere off the beaten path, so I traveled to Everwind, a residential sim full of adorable cottages nestled in a pastoral and village landscape that would be a perfect setting for nearly any fairy tale. The gorgeous shoes from Donna Flora for Shoe Fair have their own fairy tale beauty.

Heading on down to the mill, I walked past a lovely waterfall, crossing over the river on an elegant bridge. There’s a beautiful flagstone path through the woods. While I was there, I tried out the special new poses from Bent! made just for the Bloom dolls by Catherine Fairport. She has some amazing photos on Flickr. You should go look!

Preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse – Part One

The way I figure it, if the world is about to be over-run by zombies who didn’t get raptured, well, there might not be a lot of time for making snow cones. So – I figured I’d run over to the Jersey Shore build and indulge.

I was going to ride some rollercoasters, but I couldn’t get any roller coaster love. No matter what I did, they all said “Next train can be rezzed in 20 seconds.” NO ROLLER COASTER LOVE!

Next time I want to ride one, I’ll have to share a car with ZOMBIES! Lame. Continue reading
