Feeling Partial to Portia

Saschi Vixen of Adam N Eve has just released two new skins, including the vibrant Portia that I am wearing today. She dropped a few promotional copies my way, but when I saw what rich makeups she made, I had to hop over and pick up some more. I have to make special mention of her vendor system, though, because it’s pure genius. First, I recommend joining the group because the vendor discounts 10% for group members. When you select the skin you want, you are offered the chance to keep shopping and make your own custom fat pack. It was simple to use and the combined discount was 33% and being able to custom make a fat pack if fantastic. The first makeup that went into my pack was this Evergreen, because us green-eyed redheads drool over green shadow.

When I first saw the makeup, I knew I wanted to shoot it in the moonlight. It has that luminosity that the moonlight could only enhance. My friend Bhaio Shan had just advised me to check out Noah’s Ark – and when I saw the photo in the landmark, I know it would be perfect so now I just had to choose a dress. This is a great sim for shooting though you can only use huds as you cannot rez.

Well, it may be called the Krisha Sun Dress, but I think it rocked the moonlight. The dress if from ROC and I love the big bold floral print and loved shooting it among the fantastic flowers on the sim.  Now it’s chilly running around in the water in the moonlight – so I added the lovely lace cardigan from Coco. Every piece of this is tintable – and you saw it just the other day in mauve – same cardigan, just tinting away.

Yummy!

Okay, I was wearing this and tp’ed into a dance club and got an instant IM that said, “Yummy.”  Since that comment was not followed up by “do you want to see my freenis?” I took it as a compliment and to be honest, this outfit is designed to elicit a yummy or two or it’s not working, right? It’s those corset pants from LeeZu. I have featured them before  – they are just so….YUMMY!!!

Miro-Esque

This new dress I picked up at MiaMai is such a fun and lively print – but what really caught my eye was the little cascades of Joan Miro-like circles from the ruffles at the waist. It small details such as these that make a dress exciting and interesting. Once I saw those in the store vendor photo, I knew I had to have this dress.  That was a wise decision as this dress not only has those lovely fine details, but the flex in the skirt is perfect, making if flow gracefully and the jewel-like detail on the bodice is stunning.

Cajsa Unplugged

I love music of nearly every genre and in particular, I love the sound of the guitar. From the prestidigitation of Flamenco guitarists like Montoya or the precision of classical guitarists like Parkening, from the wild ride of Link Wray to the artistry of Hendrix, I love the sound of a guitar. And so, when my friend Abraxxa Anatine of EarthStones produced these amazing earrings, they were beyond irresistible. And seriously, you have to see them to believe them. The pegheads, the fretboard, the individual pieces of the guitar – are individual precisely, delicately flawlessly crafted nanoprims. The detail is amazing and there’s a closer pic after the cut – though even that won’t do it justice.

I DJ’ed at Vicious on Friday night – a set that was not even one bit acoustic – a mix of reggaeton, electronica, hip hop and funk. I wanted a great clubbing dress and this 70ties dress from Redgrave fit the bill for a great night of dancing.

Insta-Classic

I know I wore this jacket just the other day – with the Chanel Cross outfit, but I could not resist. I think it’s an insta-classic. You know, one of those pieces that will be pulled out again and again and again because it’s just so versatile and looks so good. You can see that it project a completely different style paired with the ruffled white blouse released the same day. This is a traditional and classic look and it’s done beautifully by Sugar Cube and available exclusively at Black Market sim.

You Put the Lime in the Coconut.

While I was at Coco the other day picking up those red-red-red pants, I also saw these luscious lime pants – same style, different color. I had to have them because lime is such a fun color and so cheery and happy. When I went to the Velvet on Sunday for Maht’s usual Sunday set, I popped on this outfit that included a gorgeous floral cardigan from Coco as well.

Flowers on Fire

Here’s another wardrobe staple, the LBD or Little Black Dress. One of the great features of the LBD is its ability to function as a frame for luscious jewelry which is what this dress from Skin Flicks is doing perfectly.

Dark Mouse was justly recognized as an outstanding new jeweler in the Best of SL awards and this is just one example of why. Her jewelry is quirky and original with a highly personal vision. She generally makes all her items in gold, silver and copper. This gold version has a black stone while the copper has a firey red and the silver a dark lapiz.

Lush Life

Years and years and years ago, Billy Strayhorn wrote an amazing song that has been performed by John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock, Ella Fitzgerald and Queen Latifah, Natalie and Nat King Cole and now – the Nat King Cole version has been re-engineered by Cee-lo Green. The title is Lush Life – though the lyrics are really quite sad and cynical.

I’ll live a lush life in some small dive…

But, despite the cynicism of the lyrics, the romanticism and lush beauty of the melody makes this song truly one of the great classics and a song that comes to mind when I see some truly extraordinary gown that is rich and lush with color and pattern and life – as is this Noell gown from LeeZu.

Perhaps it’s because it might be the song sung by the chanteuse on the stage at some romantic club.

Another French Touch

A lovely find at Dany’s French Touch is a men’s suit that with patience can be resized down for women. It’s modifiable, so you could drop a resize script in the prims if you are reluctant to edit freestyle. I have no such qualms and handily shrunk down the collar and cuffs. I opted not to wear the tails and just the jacket. The pants are from LeeZu – bringing the period outfit into the present.  The suit is named Urien and is a lovely floral print. It’s named after the poor fellow who married Morgan le Fay, but this is more 18th Century than Arthurian in style. Whatever its era or its inspiration, it makes a lovely feminine jacket.  Incidentally, even the system pieces are modifiable, so you could retint this if you like.
