Another drop-dead gorgeous must-have gown from Modavia Fashion Week was the Rafaella from Donna Flora. This is one of those movie star gowns, the one that she wears as she comes down the long, wide stairs into a room of people who stop dancing and simply stare, agog at the sheer magnificent extravagance of her dress while the man of her dreams crushes a glass in his hand before rushing to her side where he can say something arrogant and jealous and start a fight so the movie lasts two hours instead of ten minutes.

So Much Goodness
Shinichi Mathy, of Shiki, released a sweetly feminine collection at Modavia Fashion Week. Using a gentle palette of blues and greens with dainty and delicate prints, there are threads from his native Japan woven into this collection. From the straight lines of his gowns to the delicate textures and fine fabrics, you can see him paying homage to his culture in this collection in ways as subtle and delicate as the clothing itself. This one is called Japonesque.
The fabric in the Kyoto dress show a much more direct inspiration. I love the soft, organic colors and the subtlety of this print.
The Motomachi Girl dress is beautiful gown that hugs the figure. I love the sheer batiste bodice and collar and the soft, natural green.
And then there is the Ginza Party Girl dress, an explosion of blue fireworks and femininity that like much of this collection draws your eyes to the neck and shoulders.

Modavia Fashion Week 2011.15
The first show on Tuesday was from Neferia Abel, showing her contemporary label L’Abel. I had computer issues during the show and only saw two of the outfits. Technically I saw several others but only the prims rezzed and all the system pieces remained gray. Of course, I was crashing like mad. I think SL was hinky, because then the sim crashed, giving me time to figure out which viewer to use for the rest of the day. I tried from the beginning Viewer 3.0, 3.0 Beta, Firestorm, Kirstens, Catznip and lastly Synchronicity and that one finally rezzed people’s clothing for me and let me snap pics without crashing. In fact, I only had one crash during the next three fashion shows.
Next up was A La Folie, The first shot is the designer Pixivor Allen. The collection is a range of romantic looks with vintage inspiration. There’s plenty of sparkle, too. If you watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this week, you learned that sparkle and bling are far, far different things and never the twain shall meet.

Renewal
Good art looks new because the artist has recombined something old to make something better. (Darby Bannard)
Mami Jewell’s main store, Azul, was closed for for a few weeks in August while she rebuilt her store. Celebrating the reopening of her store with its new look, Mami applied this aphorism quite literally to her work. She has created 45 limited release gowns from her collection in special colors that will be available only during the month of September. This is Dailey, one of the new, limited release color gowns.
I love the gorgeous rosy-mauve coloring in this dress. It’s so lovely against my skin and when overlaid by the yards of black lace, it’s stunning. The asymmetrical bodice is so lovely and elevates the dress to a new level.
I Like Art

My good friend QXI Gears has an erotic art gallery over on ZINDRA that is always full of unusual and disturbing images of a sexual nature. Ok they aren’t always disturbing. Sometimes, they’re like hey yeah ok I could dig that. But often, like the one with the devil that I’m not showing, they’re kind of like OH MY GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING.
But, they are still fun.

Lettuce Begin Again
SL rezzes clothing for me again – at last. It’s not back with all the bells and whistles yet, but hopefully the next update will fix that. I have been wearing this dress for 8 days while trying to get a snap of it. I am so glad it’s such a lovely dress in case anyone saw me wandering around. It’s the dress Sissy Pessoa designed for Leah McCullough who represented her home country as Miss Uruguay in the Miss Mundo Virtual contest.

Time After Time
Did you know that all of A-Bomb’s clothing is named after songs? It’s such a great conceit and I often wish I had such a framework for post titles when I struggle trying to come up with one. For today, though, I will just steal my title from the name of my dress, Time After Time. It’s a perfect name, isn’t it, for a dress that recalls days gone by. I love this dress and not just because I love Cyndi Lauper.

This Post Has Fashion And A Crazy Build…Something For Everyone

The new release from BAIASTICE – Poletje comes in a rainbow of jeweled colors.
It’s bright and cheery, the Asian inspired print of the bodice is perfect for summer gatherings and events. Thus it’s perfectly named, as according to the internets – that repository of all things – Poletje means SUMMER – in SLOVENIAN.
Where the hell is Slovenia? Is that still a place? Or is that someplace that used to be a place and then it wasn’t a place but now it’s a place again but you have to call it something else? Continue reading
