Very Casual at Cadenza

aug23_008.jpg

I was feeling casual and after seeing that fabulous Whippet & Buck yoked t-shirt, I just had to try it out and mixing it with a different shirt just to see if it would work. Shorts from Miel were a perfect casual fit.

I was hanging out at Cadenza – an amazing water build with a small bandshell filled with flowers and a piano from which glowing musical staffs emanate. Continue reading

Not Fire, Not Ice

aug19_003.jpg

There is not a river wide
Not a mountain high
And neither sin nor evil
Could change how I feel inside
Could change how I feel inside

Not all the strength of the ocean
Not all the heat from the sun, from the sun
Now others have tried, I just can’t deny
For me you are the one
For me you are the one

From Sad to Glad With One Stop at Reale

aug17_001.jpg

It took me a couple days to pull this look together – and in the process I got to feeling very mournful for all the stores that have left Second Life® recently. Economic hard times find people cutting back and many of the stores in Second Life have had some rough months.  It’s tough seeing favorite stores and creative designers leave.

Shiny Things

It all began with the shoes. I picked these up at Shoe Fair though they have been available at Shiny Things since May. I loved the style and had a few things in my inventory that would work with them. However, the first three outfits I pulled together out of my inventory were from stores that had closed – Liberte, Vogart and Uncle Wiggley. How sad to see them gone. Not wanting this streak to continue, I decided to go shopping instead. Since I was looking for something floral and contemporary for the boots, I headed to Reale, where I knew that there would be some good prints.

Show Me On The Doll Where The Bad Carnie Touched You

Hey Mister Can I Have A Ride On The Bumper Cars?

posted by Gidge Uriza

When I was in Middle and High School, it was compulsory for girls whose fathers belonged to the Masonic organizations to have to work at the county fair for two weeks in the summer, serving the food the Shriners cooked up in the hot summer heat. We’d wait on tables in our white t-shirts,jeans and pony-tails, grinning with pearly white teeth and talking to boys about going to see the various animals they were going to show, sneak kisses behind the soda machines or talk about who won the pie cook off with the old ladies who had come in for a cold drink.

And when we got our breaks……we’d go out and flirt with carnies for free rides. To show that the carnies either weren’t that bright or weren’t actually trying to shag us, they’d let us have free rides in return for “coming back to see them later”. Continue reading

Guest Stylist: Squinternet Larnia

Squinternet Larnia_008.jpg

I ran into Squinternet Larnia, Designer/Owner of Donna Flora, at PXL Creations the other day. She was wearing an amazing dress with stunning embroidery. In fact, she was so beautifully styled I immediately asked her to be a guest stylist for our blog and she graciously agreed. In this shoot, she is wearing that dress she was wearing the other day and on second sight – it’s as beautiful as ever. The Lorelei dress is a lovely form-fitting dress with lovely puff sleeves accented with a lovely beaded fringe.

I asked her to come to Elonia for the shoot because I though the lovely blend of ice white and gold would make a beautiful setting. It looked even better than I thought it would. The surreal combination of an iced-over river and palms is stunning and the fantastic buildings gleam like jewels on the ground. Continue reading

Life Sized Candy Bars

Aug16b_010.jpg

Do you ever just put together an outfit not really knowing where you are headed until you get there? I was planning to put together something to wear with some boots and look where I ended up today. I vaguely remembered a brown skirt I have, but could not recall the maker. After working my way through my Skirts/Brown/ folder and coming up empty, I thought I might check my Ivalde/L’Abel folder. Well, I still didn’t find what I was looking for, but was completely distracted by the awesomeness that is this fabulous brown pencil skirt from L’Abel. The blouse is also from L’Abel and has a ruffled peplum style bottom that I left off in order to wear it tucked in.

My exploring feet took me to Risk City this time – and what a fun place it is. There are several installations in Risk City, each a stand alone work of art. This one if Chocolate – and it’s as yummy looking as the name.

Where's Waldo?

Aug16_007.jpg

When I shared a picture of this sim on plurk, Gogo said, “it looks like Where’s Waldo?” and she’s right. You will be very lost in a cacophony of color and detail at the Lemondrops Forest sim. Still, you should go there and explore. It’s full of whimy and fun, though be careful about crossing the bridge into Poopsburgh where only poops are allowed.

Aug16_012.jpg

My outfit for exploring was certainly whimsical and fit right into Lemondrops Forest. The top is from Apple May designs and flowed perfectly into the Bottle Bird Petal Skirt I was wearing. The skirt comes with the accompanying leggings which are adorable, though I would prefer the option to wear with leggings or with a short glitch pants. Still, it’s easy enough to make acceptable glitch pants when the skirt is a plain fabric like this.

My Favorite Color

aug16_003.jpg

Green is my favorite color. It’s a good thing because there’s so much green in the world with the grass and the leaves on the trees. I discovered that I need to live in a green environment after a short and unsuccessful move to Montana where I became so depressed that I began sleeping for hours and hours everyday. Taking my nephew on a college tour and showing him my alma mater (which he chose to attend) I came back to life and good cheer with an hour of entering the green grasslands that I love. I will never live in an arid place without lots of green again. I need green! And I really love green when it’s in an adorable little dress like this one from sen*2.  It’s a little summer strapless sundress, but a nice cardigan dresses it up a bit.

It's a Men's Sweater & I Don't Care

Aug14b_004.jpg

So the other day my friend Hart Larsson of PXL Creations passed me a couple sweaters to try on and critique. He asked if I liked the colors and if the pois looked good. I asked “What’s pois?” Then I crashed before he answered.. or he crashed. I don’t remember. So…I googled it. You can google it, too. The first response in Google is Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome. So I log back in with some ammunition to tease him, and ask “What’s pois?” again, but he explained quite simply that it’s those little dots and sure enough if you look in a French-English dictionary – it is a polka dot or dot. I took pity on Hart and didn’t ask him about Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome after all.

Aug14b_005.jpg

You see, I got distracted by the details on the sweater – like the little tag sticking up on the back with the PXL logo on it. I actually said “Awwww, that’s so cute!” out loud, making my cat think I was talking to him and preen a little.  Anyway, it’s an adorable sweater in a rainbow of colors. It has charming details and it has pois. In fact, there’s only one thing wrong with it – it’s for men. However, I don’t care. It fits me like a glove and I am going to wear it anyway. And, ladies, just so you know, one of my critiques was that Hart needed to add some lighter colors which he did later – after I shot these pictures. So now there’s a nice antique rose, a cornflower blue, a lovely beige – beautiful colors for women AND men.

Aug14b_001.jpg

The look I went for was pretty casual and I shot the pictures at The Mother Road – an homage to Route 66. However, I didn’t shoot on the highway this time, but walked a few blocks away from the road into the farmland that it crosses. Continue reading
