VaVaVelvety Leathers from Baiastice

Look how touchable and soft that little jacket is. It’s one of the appropriately named Sexy jackets from Baiastice made of rubbed leather, sueded to the point it seems more like velvet than leather.  With it I am wearing a top from Pixel Dolls – Isolde, aptly named with its Arthurian chasing on the belting. The hazards of special events

Special events like the Passion of Black Swan exhibition carry me away and I do foolish things like fall in love with dresses that are not my style and leave me wondering, “but where will I wear this?”  But what they hey, if we can dress outside our normal style in Second Life® then we never can, so here goes. This is the Haunted Zuzu Black Swan contribution and it’s a dress that appears to literally grow on you as it spreads its bodice over your torso like a spreading vine.

Simple Chic

It’s easy to pull together a simple, chic look in just a moment’s notice, just have a handy-dandy all-purpose high-waisted pencil skirt on hand. One in a neutral color will work with just about any blouse you care to throw at it. In this case, I didn’t go neutral as I have more than one of the super wonderful Little Rebel ruched pencil skirts. When I pulled out this pucci-pop top from Le Petite Fleur, I opted for the orange skirt.

It ain't Foggy Bottom!

I am not sure what the creators of the US Capitol sim were trying to say with all the fog rising from the steps leading up to the Capitol. Are they implying that our Congress is so full of hot air from meaningless speeches and grandstanding that fog rises right out of the sidewalk?  Perhaps it’s a reference to the Foggy Bottom neighborhood, but that’s the State Department, not Congress. (For non-American readers, Washington DC was quite brilliantly built on a swamp)

Whatever their intent, my intent was to look sharp when I went to visit Congress, so I grabbed a lovely suit from DeGroot Casuals.

At Hollow Forest: Quick Look

Didn’t get this posted before leaving for work, so this will be a quick one. Shot at the Hollow Forest sim, a place that makes me hear “Born on the Bayou” in my head.  Features jeans and a sweater from Ibizarre and shoes from Maitreya – good hiking and exploring clothes that are sturdy and wear well.

Feathers

New skin from Gala Phoenix: Sari with freckles

Sometimes the beauty of a dress is so self-evident that any attempt to describe it merely detracts from your pleasure in seeing the designer’s marriage of art and design and her balancing of the challenges of phantom flexi-prims with the demands of fashion.  The Kungler Couture Passion of the Black Swan dress by AvaGardner Kungler is exactly that sort of dress.  This is a dress that can take your breath away, so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

The fires of passion frame your face with feathers.

A panache of fire and black plumes frame your face together with the silver needles and thread of the old song, The Black Swan by Giancarlo Menotti.

Black Swan

The sun is falling and it lies in blood
The moon is weaving bandages of gold
Old black swan where oh where is my lover now
Where oh where is my lover now

Under the bamboo tree

I made a lovely visit to the Gion sim this weekend and found this gorgeous walkway through a stand of bamboo. I could not resist stopping for some photos. Luckily I was dressed for shooting in this lovely high-waisted ruched skirt from Little Rebel and lovely ruffled top from Frangipani Designs.

Oh playmate, come out and play with me

Now if we moved this shelf over there and that shelf over here...

Looking at the last few posts, you might think my weekend was long on glamour and formal occasions which is far from the truth considering the one big event I planned to attend, I missed by dilly-dallying. Speaking of dilly-dallying – here’s one of the places I dallied a lot this weekend, The Hollow Forest. More specifically, the children’s room in the house there.  As soon as I saw it I thought of the old song.

Oh playmate, come out and play with me
And bring your dollies three.
Climb up my apple tree,
Look down my rain barrel
Slide down my cellar door
And we’ll be jolly friends forever more.
