Something Old and Something New:Free Speerit and DLizzy

posted by Gidge Uriza

If you are an old enough avatar, you remember that one day Desidelia at Free Speerit decided she wanted to get rid of all the hair at her store and BOOM it was all free. Just like that.

If you were a new fashion blogger at the time, it was like Christmas. Continue reading

Quick Look: DeLa

Sorry for not posting yesterday and posting so late today. I have been super busy IRL – catching up after three weeks of illness from H1N1 and trying to get things done by deadlines. I am still slammed and just tossing this up quickly. It’s a great dress from DeLa that features a pouf skirt with a contrasting pouf underskirt. I love the style of the dress, it’s shape and details. There’s one thing that might improve it…but only at the cost of an attachment point and I know how we all love our attachment points. I just thinknk it would be fun to have the underskirt pouf a separate item so if I bought two or three or four or more of these dresses, I could mix colors on my own. That would be fun! But saving attachment points has its value too and the color in the provided skirt is the optimum color choice. …It’s a darling skirt and fun and great for dancing.

Unseasonably Warm

Since you only get the weather you want in SL, it’s warm and sunny and perfect for a little dress like this – one I forgot I had and discovered while cleaning out my inventory for the Yard Sale.  I love the colors in the print and the briefer than usual band of print on the bodice. It’s a cute little dress, fun and lively.

Mobile Home Princess

Yes she’s a Trailer Park Woman

She’s a Mobile Home Princess

She’s the QUEEN OF MANUFACTURED HOUSING!

I was doing another mishmash when I got inspired to make a Halloween Costume out of my inventory – to put beautiful things together in a way that no creator ever intended – just to rock some trailer park style.

Seriously, you know I just spent the night at a club partying with random guys and doing snakebites.

Luckily I’ve got this comfy bedroom situated right off the kitchen – built in furniture FTW!

Ok, I might be daffy with giddyness at being back. But I was having way too much fun shooting this – and being silly.

And – I think Kavar may have created my favorite JBF hair ever, whether he meant to or not.

Let’s Party!

Trailer Park Style Notes:

  • Shape – Gidge Custom Shape by Hatchy Mills
  • Skin – Aimesi – Amely in Cashmere
  • Hair – Exile – Kalea in Ash
  • Eyes – PXL Creations – glow eyes in FATE
  • Top – Pixel Dolls – Atlantis in Violet
  • Pants – BOO by Sascha’s Designs

Oh My, Oh My, Oh Little Miss

A few weeks back there was some random muttering and plurking about garters coming from the plurkroom where Roslin Petion was preparing her newest releases for 5th & Oxford along with her business partner CJ Carnot.  Now, you might wonder why someone would mutter and grumble about garters, but really, that’s a sign of a perfectionist at work. And what a perfectionist! I am just astonished by some of the details and craftsmanship in the new lingerie from 5th & Oxford under the line Little Miss.  In this photo, I am wearing her Audrey Little Miss makeup and lingerie.  I love that this skin is so delicate and not hard-bodied. It’s very soft and feminine.

There are also matching slips and stockings. The color I chose is blush which is one of my favorite lingerie colors because it’s so barely there.

The Colors of the Season:A Mashup of Some of My Faves

posted by Gidge Uriza

There are some days that I like getting dressed out of my inventory as though it were a closet, pulling out pants, tops, etc vs just opening a folder and slapping everything ON.

Don’t get me wrong, the latter is EASIER, but I like wearing things together that were not intended as such – sometimes I have a lot more fun with it. Such as this outfit I wore roaming around the grid the other night. Continue reading

Watercolors & Honeydews

One of the most adventurous designers in Second Life™ is AnaLee Balut of ALB Dream Fashion. Not only does she play with wild colors and prints, but she also experiments with the form of SL clothing – from making heavy sculptie coats and robes, to long flowing Empire waist dresses and everywhere in between. Her Lotta series of dresses are breathtakingly beautiful – each and every one. This is the honeydew print – that has the desaturated subtlety of a watercolor. There’s also an orange and a blue dress – and they are equally stunning.

Mix It Up

Every fashionista should have a few highwaisted skirts in her inventory and you can get great ones from many places including MichaMi, Pixel Dolls and literally dozens of stores. The reason to have them is that they are great to toss into the mix when you want to take a top from a dress, jacket or suit and use it in a new way. For example, this jacket from Silent Sparrow comes from an pants outfit and is part of a long jacket with tails. I wasn’t in the mood for tails, but I was just loving the autumn feel of the jacket – and decided it would be a blouse for the day…and all it took was adding a skirt that would tuck it in. And so was able to enjoy the rich texture and intricate details of this gorgeous top – in a new way.

Could it be Klee?

I love a nice print – and this gorgeous little dress from Abia Capalini Design is just exactly the sort of fun little print that makes my heart go pitter-patter. It reminds me of some Klee painting and I just love it. The shoes are favorites that you have seen many times, the Belles from Shiny Things.

Fueled by Fashion

Sometimes you see something on a wall at a store and you just have to have it. That was me when I saw this Silk Wings top from Baiastice. I love silk, I love gold, I love complicated collars and ties and if they aren’t squared off like a linebacker, I even love a constructed shoulder.  This is a home run on all counts. The night before I was in Uruzi – where you will find some of the best ethnic jewelry in Second Life, when I glanced at the clothing and saw some harem pants that actually looked good and the same thing happened. So, of course, they belong together.
