A Nip in the Air

I thought there was a nip in the air the other day. Turns out it might have been early flu symptoms, but whatever the reason, feeling chilly in real life got me seeking comfy, cozy in Second Life® so I put on the layers. I began this outfit with this gorgeous mesh jacket from La Penderie de Nicole. La Penderie de Nicole is a new store for me, but the designer Marcopol Oh is someone whose photography I have admired for a long time. The houndstooth print is gorgeous and I love the little trace of red dashing through it.

First time buyers may feel some hesitation because we are accustomed to either a one-item boxed Pay vendor or a Buy vendor with all the items. Seeing the landmark and 1 item in the Buy window, I wondered for a moment whether there was an error in setting up the vendor, but never fear, it’s just that the many size options were all boxed and added with the landmark.

It’s so funny that Acha, Gidge and I all independently decided to blog these gorgeous shorts from Ingenue today. I feel like I need to pull out a timestamp and say, b-b-b-but I shot them yesterday. But you know what? It doesn’t matter that we all wore the same shorts, if you look at these three posts they are all so very different. From Acha’s high camp to Gidge’s casual chic to my classic style, we all took a different approach to the same shorts and came up with very different looks. My downstairs neighbor is up to something! I don’t know what but it involves implements of sonic torture — hammers, electric drills and power saws. I tried to distract myself with television and music, but if noise is what’s bothering you, more noise will not cancel it out. It just creates a cacophonous clash where the beauty of the music and the thread of the story are lost. I held my cat for awhile, his upper body resting on my shoulder sheltering one ear with the comfort of his purring, but the electric drill sent him scurrying to hide in the closet. I finally decided to log into Second Life® and shoot some pictures. I had picked up this gorgeous leather dress from MichaMi at The Dressing Room and needed to get it in the can. Because I wanted to shoot it with a coat, I wanted to find a fall sim and checked out Izzie’s – and that is where the magic happened.

A Unique Problem Tinting My Skin HUD

The minute I saw the vendor ad for her newest release on Milla Michanga’s timeline, I knew I had to have it. I hurried to the store and picked it up in a couple colors because it is such a flattering style and one that looks like it might layer well with jackets. It has a beautiful bodice and softly ruffled skirt in a nice light cotton knit with a snug torso in a waffle knit of the same color. The contrasting fabrics give it a slightly sporty look, but that does not mean you can’t dress it up with accessories if that’s your whim.

Second Serendipity

I love how Second Life Serendipity works. Take this outfit. I found this gorgeous Iris skirt at Leverocci and was looking for a good top to wear with it. I had tried on top in my White Tops folder and settled on a nice tank and a jacket which made a nice classic look, but was not what I had envisioned. Suddenly someone posts a vendor pic of Betty Doyle’s new top for Ingenue and had exactly the sort of modern lines I had been hoping for.

This fabulous jacket from Hucci has the classic, eternal chic of a Chanel jacket and the tank from MichaMi can dress up or dress down. I shot this at Digital Dragon – a great sim  with a predominantly black and white design.  This and the other Digital Dragon pics used Di’s Opera poses.

Early Bird DJ

SL9B DJ Set

I signed up to DJ at SL9B and drew the 6 AM slot. My set was this morning and was a lot of fun. I featured music of community liberation and resistance from around the world, trying to craft a set to suit this years SL9B theme of community. Gogo gave me some smart advice, reminding me not to wear mesh in case there were folks attending without mesh viewers, so I dug out this gorgeous old dress from MichaMi and added hot pick shoes from Baiastice is spice it up with color.

Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge

I thought I would walk around Old New York and Staten Island sims and even take a little hike across the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of those bridges that capture people’s hearts and imaginations. Its stunning sweep and the visual delicacy of its suspension wires makes it a work of art. My outfit for the day is perfect for a jaunt around the City with a gorgeous tweed jacket that can be removed if the weather warms up.

Inis Caiseal

It’s so easy to find beauty in Second Life – and not just in fashion, but in the landscapes, the art, the music and the friendships. If you look for beauty, you will find it. If you look for wonder, you will find it. It’s that kind of seek and you shall find sort of place. Inis Caiseal is one of three contiguous sims that make up the Alchemy Immortalis archipelago.  Despite knowing it makes me sound inane, I have to confess I love the word archipelago. It has such a funky sound to it. Raise your hands if you like how some words sound irrespective of their meaning!

OKay, to the business at hand – showing off the gorgeous new jacket from L’Abel.  More accurately, it’s part of a suit that includes some quilted knee-length shorts. I am not a great lover of shorts or quilted bottoms of any sort, but adore the structure of the jacket. This is a must have in every color – it’s beautifully formed and carefully made and I love it! The only thing that would make it more perfect is to have the option of a prim for the jacket’s bottom in addition to the system skirt. Then it could be worn with system skirts or with pants. Flexibility is always a win in my book.
