Of Ball Gowns and Best Friends

As we head into a weekend of parties and swirly dresses I’m pulling out a set that was shot long before Cajsa got sick.
Over on my RL blog I talked yesterday about knowing who you are. (Words of wisdom via Keith Richards). The importance of that struck me as I was muddling through flickr sets trying to decide what to post today.
This picture above, well, that’s who Cajsa and I are.

At least, it’s one facet of the gem of our barbie girls. Continue reading

Boots For Ersatz To Hate Me Over:+ Lelutka Made Hair For To Drool

Dear Ersatz Charisma,
I have these boots. You do not. HOAR.
NO! NO YOU MAY NOT WEAR THEM! I HAVE THE FAT PACK AND I WILL NOT LET YOU BORROW EVEN ONE COLOR BECAUSE YOU ARE MEAN MEAN MEAN MEAN MEAN.

Ok, I might let you borrow one color. Because, I am way totally nicer than one.

And just a note, Ersatz, before you say ZOMG Why didn’t she adjust that prim up just a WEEE bit on the skirt? Because you could see my WHAT NOT! That’s why. 🙂 Continue reading

Paranoia Rising

nov13_001

In case you missed the news, I have been exploring the fresh new hell that is modern medical care. Don’t get me wrong, I am overwhelmed by the compassion and professional care provided by the nurses, doctors and all the staff. Even when I have been “i know you are trying to kill me” paranoid, they have been wonderful. But all the compassion in the world cannot put the lid back on the bug jar when that bizarre combination of real physical pain, the loss of editorial control from pain meds and the psychosis induced by renal failure introduced me to an entire new world. In fact, when I get out I think I have some blockbuster sci-fi stories on file, if I can find some thread of coherence.

Isn’t it just perfect, then, that the last photo shoot before I went into the hospital is atypical of my usual shoot and includes some pics that would totally fit into a couple of my narratives of the last week, like the one where the Dept. of Defense was attempting to do a consciousness transfer of my mind to the man who loves war via Ipod. Ipod??? Go figure. But I am pleased that the DoD was on the side of peace and justice and only hatched their scheme in response to his love of war.

Roan Island

oct11_007

This is a shoot I made for Jewelry Fair that I have just not been well enough to post until today. However, though the Fair is over, the wonderful jewelry is still available. The dress is a lovely summery sundress from UmeMode. It definitely wanted to be shot in a field of flowers so I went to Roan Island.

oct11_002

Roan Island is a wonderful place to wander around and explore and there all sorts of flowers. Neither scripts nor rezzing are permitted, so pose huds and stands were not allowed. However, that’s no problem when my AO works so well.

So I Went to Pteron

oct10_006

I love this new bodysuit from House of Hucci with its gorgeous dropped sleeves – something you can find at the Call For Couture event that is raising funds for The Samaritans. Although they have been planning this for a long time, the recent spate of suicides has made the event more timely than they could have imagined. Because the SL fashion world is always busy with events and charitable activities, the Jewelry Fair is also busy raising funds for Oxfam International. Doing good by looking good! That’s should be Second Life fashion’s motto.

oct10_002

Pteron has many different places to visit when you go there, but I was captivated by this stairway that would probably give me an anxiety attack in real life. For the shoot, I used Codie’s fabulous windlight settings that are included in many of the alternate viewers. This is Rouge 4 and has such a dramatic feeling that it seemed perfect for that tense balancing act on the stairs and the ominous setting of this fortress.

Cecilia

oct02_016.jpg

Cecilia, you’re breaking my heart
You’re shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Cecilia, I’m down on my knees
I’m begging you please to come home

oct02_010.jpg

The heartless Cecelia of Simon & Garfunkel’s lyrics could get away with running off with other men because she was so fascinating. If she were wearing the Cecilia gown from Azul, that would not hurt either. In this photo, I ran off to the Old Abbey at The Looking Glass – a gorgeous sim from Marcus Inkpen that is a delight to explore.

Jewelry Fair Faves: Bliensen & MaiTai

oct08_001

One of my favorite sets from the Jewelry Fair is the wonderful mosaic set from Bliensen & MaiTai. Coming in 10 gorgeous options, they are irresistible. I wanted something nice and classic to show them off and wore this top from MAiiKI and a pencil skirt from MichaMi.

Jewelry Fair Favorites: Kunglers

oct07_003

I have been sort of disconnected lately what with so many First Life distractions, that the first I realized that Jewelry Fair was on its way was when I received the new releases from Kunglers Extra. And wow oh wow oh wow! I loved the Orquidea sets they made earlier but they outdid themselves with the new colors including this fabulous gold set that is a perfect addition to wear with the gorgeous Dana dress from Baiastice’s Fall Collection.

A Night At the Opera

Oct01_006.jpg

I wish I could sing. I know some people say they cannot sing and merely mean they don’t sing well. I mean I cannot sing in tune. However, that doesn’t keep me from wishing I could. At least in SL, I can pretend a bit at the Opera House at Innsmouth. This gown from Baiastice is perfect for the opera diva. Now, if only I had autotune!

Oct01_003.jpg

Innsmouth is a fabulous period sim and the Opera House is amazing.

Autumn Has Arrived

sep29_006.jpg

Most of the fall collections have been released and we fashion-lovers are awash in riches – and in the rich autumn colors of red, orange and gold. Autumn also brings the return of soft and cozy fabrics like cashmere and velvet, rich in texture and soft to the touch. In Chantkare’s fall collection one of the best examples of that wonderful fall combination of texture and color is the Leopsi dress – made with rich autumn colors and devore velvet.
