I used to love playing Lotería – a graphic bingo/keno game very popular in Mexico. We played it in Spanish class on the days when our teacher was tired and really would have rather been home with a blanket and a good book. She pretended it was in the lesson plan, but we all knew better. What made Lotería so funwere the fabulous and, to us, bizarre illustrations. You cannot play without wondering how those particular items were chosen to be the magical 54 illustrations. Whatever it was – it was genius and so are the lovely Lotería earrings and other jewelry produced recently by Halfpint Pennel from the Stokame Artist Colony. It’s so great to find something new and different and fun. I have to say the same thing when I mention the scarf shown here. From Vette’s, this scarf is a clever combination of prim with your choice of undershirt, shirt or jacket layer options that makes it look nearly flawless.

On the Sunny Side of the Street
The sunshine yellow in this joyful spring skirt and blouse from Mimikri made me think of the joyful and exuberant song “On the Sunny Side of the Street.” This is the yellow of sunshine and springtime. That song is particularly interesting in that many believe it was written about the experience of “passing” – the practice by some light-skinned blacks of passing as white to increase their opportunities.
Grab your coat and get your hat
Leave your worries on the doorstep
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the street
Medusa
There’s nothing quite as wonderful as a lovely beige silk pencil skirt with a subtle pattern to it. It can be worn with nearly any color in the spectrum. Almost any kind of blouse will suit it. And if the pattern is subtle enough, you can even wear a blouse with a bit of pattern to it as in this black top from Kunglers Medusa pantsuit. It has an art deco motif in black on black. The motif would be more obvious except I chose to wear a cami underneath because I am a pixel prude. The cami is from Ornamental Life and would look great on its own.
Sensational
Infinity Skins is now open – though still unofficially – so you can hop over and try out the demos of the different skins I have been wearing most of this week. This one is Ava and it is an elegant and regal face that really suits this Seldom Blue gown called Sensations. And the name of the gown suits this skin – and I am sure when you try out the demos, you will think they are sensational too.
Saving Daylight
There’s an easier way to save some daylight than having the whole word jump forward. We could just all wear yellow and bring some sunny cheer to the day. And we would not have to lose an hours sleep to do it. You know I really love these tartan tights from !*G^G*! because I hate that store name and would prefer to never type it out again. Nonetheless, when I put this outfit together I knew I needed to use those tights just for the whimsy of it all. Continue reading
Lollygagging
Sorting my inventory, I came across the lovely yellow floral print dress from &Bean. It’s called Skinny Love and if skinny means short, it’s well named. I was in the mood for a longer option and remembered the lovely tulip skirt from mocca and switched it out and headed off to Lollygaggers Shopping Experience to shoot a few pics – not that the run down and decrepit look of the shopping lane matched the outfit, but for the opposite reason – that it is so grim in contrast to the light cheerfulness of the outfit.
