Inspi(Red)

There’s a very clever ad campaign to raise money for and global awareness of the AIDS epidemic. It’s called Join Red and is not a charity – but a business model that encourages consumers to purchase from member companies who then contribute to the Global Fund. You can recognize a lot of the Red companies because they have clever variations of words ending in Red – like inspi(red) and wi(red) and so on.  I could not help but think of it when I tried on the hot, hot red of the new shoes from Aphrodite Outlander of Aphrodite Creations (AC) which had me searching for an intense enough red to  wear with it. These pants from Coco sure fit the bill so I put together a red look.  And in keeping with that theme, I ask you to check out Join Red and learn what products you can purchase to direct funding to the Global Fund as well.

Hot Summer Nights

On really hot summer nights, there’s nothing better than a pair of loose cotton gauze palazzo pants so light you can feel the breeze flow through them. I took the pair from a Zenith pantsuit and paired it with the bodice of a Zaara summer dress for a nice cool summer night casual look. Adding the fab leather & lace belt from EarthStones put me in the mood for more EarthStones so I popped over there and picked up the matching shoes.

Love at First Sight

I am so glad I went to Fabulous Fashion TV on Monday night. First, it introduced me to two new jewelers, but even more exciting, whilst wandering around the store at one of the jewelry (Piso) I happened upon a new to me hair store called Mirone and it was love at first sight, and at second and third too for that matter.  Look at that whispy casually elegant updo. The hair textures are absolutely perfect and I am in love.

I am in love the the adorable dress from Truth as well. With the big, bold paisley design, it’s got a graphic punch to it. The shrug I added just in case the weather turned chilly. From Project Kiwi, it’s just that little bit of warmth on your shoulders that you want on a summer evening.

Second-Hand Rose

Truth’s Secondhand Jacket is delightful – it has an old-fashioned comfort look about it. You just know the fabric is soft from wear and that all the stiffness in the collar and pockets is long long gone and what’s left is pure, unadulterated comfort clothing.  I paired it with the Feure shirt from MichaMi in part because I am so in love with the texturing on that shirt I seek opportunities to wear it. I feel the same way about the Adam N Eve leather pants. They are my favorite leather pants in SL and they are hot. Moreover, they are thoughtfully packaged with a bootleg and regular leg for maximum flexibibility.

Viva La Jolene

Now if Dolly Parton had been wearing this she never would have had to write, “Jolene, Jolene, I’m begging you please don’t take my man.” Of course, this is named Jolene,  probably because that’s what she was wearing, though I cannot imagine Dolly in granny pants, can you? There’s a lingerie party at MDR tonight with DJ Ashleigh Dickens – and Ashleigh is a fun  DJ. I am thinking I will be wearing Jolene – though I promise not to take your man even though with this lingerie, Dolly Parton says I can.

Over the lingerie, the super sexy Clingy Satin dress from Viva La Glam. Yes, they’re back and I immediately went to see if they were as wonderful as I remembered. Nostalgia has that effect, you know. As you can see, they are as good as ever. Now let’s cross our fingers and hope they bring back the metallic tights so I don’t have to feel guilty every time I blog them.

Donna Flora Challenge

Have you ever been to Donna Flora? If you have, you will understand what I mean when I say going to Donna Flora is like that Lays Potato Chip commercial that says “No one can eat just one.” It’s near impossible to walk into Donna Flora and leave with just one item – because there’s so much, it’s so good and there’s such variety. From hair, to jewelry, shoes to dresses, from retro to avant garde, basics to high fashion – you will find it there in plenty. So I am not going to challenge you to “eat just one” but to let us all know how many items get added to your wish list.

This Donna Flora dress is called Carla and comes with a beautiful prim spray of flowers and a ruffled prim skirt – all on one attachment point. This may require editing a few pieces separately, but it’s worth it for such a unique look.

No Pictures No Comments!

posted by Gidge Uriza

Now that Cajsa has had her SLebrity status confirmed I feel certain that every time we poke our heads out of the water of our seafloor studio we’re going to be completely swarmed with pixel reporters. All of whom will be claiming to have blogposts that they want to discuss.

Well……we’re very busy with fashion and other girly stuff. So – NO PICTURES (unless we take them) and NO COMMENTS! MOVE ALONG! Continue reading

Perquisites

Blogging has many perquisites, or perks, that we try to make as transparent as possible so our readers know what may or may not influence us. I had to use the word perquisites instead of the usual perks just because 10 dollar words drive Tenshi crazy. And who can resist the opportunity?  Among the perks are occasional promotional copies, advance notice of some releases and even seeing and having an opportunity to give opinions on items in the process of creation. One perk not often mentioned is the occasional discovery of new stores and talents that come about as a result of a designer knocking on my IM window and saying I am sending you a couple items and hope you will look at them.  And that happened this weekend when Nikki Herron of G&N Quality Design sent me a couple folders, including this freebie that she has on offer for this week only.  I was immediately impressed by the quality of the textures – and the bold sweep of the top. I really love the attention taken with the wrinkles, the weave of the fabric and the weave in the capris.

Jolie Ensemble is Perfect for the 4th Too!

posted by Gidge Uriza

The blue with gold OR silver detailing Jolie ensemble is perfect if you want to salute the July 4th Holiday with a more conservative style. This piece by Kalli Heart Designs is a review bloggers dream – includes earrings and bracelets which are NICE plus LAYERS LAYERS LAYERS.

Did I mention LAYERS? Plus the shirt/jacket/undershirt layer comes in opaque OR sheer 🙂 And you can layer up the sheer version for a “less sheer” look that is still smexy. I’m wearing two layers of sheer in the pic below.

The sheer option on the shirt - Blue with GOLD detail

I’ve also got the blue version with SILVER detail to show you. Continue reading

Americana

Posted by Gidge Uriza

Ok, I lied. I’ve got some red white and blue. But it’s cute. And for the next 48 hours you’re gonna see it. I promise you no whacky hats or nutty hairs.

Well, I mostly promise.

Americana from GYPSY SOUL is a great dress for those of you feeling patriotic but not in that “I WILL WEAR AN UNCLE SAM HAT WHILE SINGING ALONG TO STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER” sort of mood.

Cuz, that sound doesn’t actually have words. Continue reading
