Black Magic Woman
I got a Black Magic Woman.
I got a Black Magic Woman.
Yes, I got a Black Magic Woman,
She’s got me so blind I can’t see;
But she’s a Black Magic Woman and
she’s trying to make a devil out of me.
I’m not to proud to steal a comment from my Flickr photo of this dress. Harper left that comment for the dress and while I had not thought of that when I put the look together, I liked the idea. Actually, when i was putting it together I was thinking of Logan’s unfortunate outfit on Project Runway last week, the one with 40 zippers. Now, this dress from Exclusiva is a much better example of zippers as embellishment and a much hotter look, in my opinion.
Quick Look: Coco & Mimikri
I think COCO and Mimikri are natural matches when putting outfits together. Both store have bold, modern looks and constantly push the limits of SL fashion in developing and working with prims, sculpties and textures. Mimikri is wilder in the texture department and COCO in the sculptie department, but there’s a certain balance when you pull their work together. Take the lovely COCO leather jacket and see how well it is Mimikri top and pants.
Gotta-Have-It Hair
I am in love with the Jenna hair from Exile released last weekend. If you can only buy one hair style, this should be it. It’s sexy, new and fresh. It’s superb for photos but not so outre that you cannot wear it running around. As Lil C might say, “It’s buck!”
Hair this hawt needs a a dress that is equally hot and the K.I.T. Rue Cambon dress from Mimikri answers the challenge. It’s a gorgeous black and white tweed with echoes of Chanel chic in the cut and form, but with some of the signature Mimikri boldness with the oversize tweed pattern. It’s design genius that flatters your shape up one side and down the other. Put it together with the bedroomy hair over the shoulder and it’s flaming hot.
The Colors of the Season:A Mashup of Some of My Faves
posted by Gidge Uriza
There are some days that I like getting dressed out of my inventory as though it were a closet, pulling out pants, tops, etc vs just opening a folder and slapping everything ON.
Don’t get me wrong, the latter is EASIER, but I like wearing things together that were not intended as such – sometimes I have a lot more fun with it. Such as this outfit I wore roaming around the grid the other night. Continue reading
Puttin' on the Ritz
There was a burst of chic goodness that flowed into the fashion stream like a waterfall last weekend. My inventory overflowed and I was adrift in choices of what to wear. But I absolutely had to wear the new COCO Tuxedo that is so gorgeous I could almost hear it singing “I feel pretty, oh so pretty…” I suppose you think clothes don’t sing, but it’s SL. They can do anything. The tuxedo jacket comes in gray and black and I wore the gray for more contrast with the black feather skirt. Feathers and Tuxedos don’t go together usually, but the skirt was humming “Putting on the Ritz” and the potential for a great fashion song mash-up should never be denied. The fab boots are from Pixel Mode – where the 50L sale just eroded all my will power and flooded my inventory with PM goodness.
Feeling Partial to Portia
Saschi Vixen of Adam N Eve has just released two new skins, including the vibrant Portia that I am wearing today. She dropped a few promotional copies my way, but when I saw what rich makeups she made, I had to hop over and pick up some more. I have to make special mention of her vendor system, though, because it’s pure genius. First, I recommend joining the group because the vendor discounts 10% for group members. When you select the skin you want, you are offered the chance to keep shopping and make your own custom fat pack. It was simple to use and the combined discount was 33% and being able to custom make a fat pack if fantastic. The first makeup that went into my pack was this Evergreen, because us green-eyed redheads drool over green shadow.
When I first saw the makeup, I knew I wanted to shoot it in the moonlight. It has that luminosity that the moonlight could only enhance. My friend Bhaio Shan had just advised me to check out Noah’s Ark – and when I saw the photo in the landmark, I know it would be perfect so now I just had to choose a dress. This is a great sim for shooting though you can only use huds as you cannot rez.
Well, it may be called the Krisha Sun Dress, but I think it rocked the moonlight. The dress if from ROC and I love the big bold floral print and loved shooting it among the fantastic flowers on the sim. Now it’s chilly running around in the water in the moonlight – so I added the lovely lace cardigan from Coco. Every piece of this is tintable – and you saw it just the other day in mauve – same cardigan, just tinting away.
Tinted
I did some tinting again. I can’t resist. This time it was the lovely white lace cardigan from Coco. She made it tintable on the sytem and prims – so the color choices for that single cardigan are infinite. I went with a deep rosy purple that I really like with the side detail on the jeans – perhaps the cutest jeans on the grid. The shirt underneath is the incomparable Fearne top from MichaMi – whose detailed texture work is legendary. This top, though, is my favorite of all her work. The colors are so beautifully chosen and the depth of the textures are stunning.
You Put the Lime in the Coconut.
While I was at Coco the other day picking up those red-red-red pants, I also saw these luscious lime pants – same style, different color. I had to have them because lime is such a fun color and so cheery and happy. When I went to the Velvet on Sunday for Maht’s usual Sunday set, I popped on this outfit that included a gorgeous floral cardigan from Coco as well.
Inspi(Red)
There’s a very clever ad campaign to raise money for and global awareness of the AIDS epidemic. It’s called Join Red and is not a charity – but a business model that encourages consumers to purchase from member companies who then contribute to the Global Fund. You can recognize a lot of the Red companies because they have clever variations of words ending in Red – like inspi(red) and wi(red) and so on. I could not help but think of it when I tried on the hot, hot red of the new shoes from Aphrodite Outlander of Aphrodite Creations (AC) which had me searching for an intense enough red to wear with it. These pants from Coco sure fit the bill so I put together a red look. And in keeping with that theme, I ask you to check out Join Red and learn what products you can purchase to direct funding to the Global Fund as well.
