While checking out this new dress from Ivalde, I decided to trek around the Ivalde sim and climbed up high to get a good look. I am also taking a good look at this new dress with the colorful embroidery on the sleeves and bodice. I am wearing the teal dress, but it also comes in red, magenta, green, blue, and yellow all on a rich black fabric.
I ran not walked this morning to get over to The Deck to check out the new 95L sale event – MY ATTIC. It’s chocked full of awesome and from people you’ve actually heard of – like Maitreya, Exile, Idiosyncracy, Miel and on and on.

In less than four hours, Fashion For Life will be closing until next year. The vendors will be picked up and the sims will be dismantled and it will all go away, these beautiful builds such as this one that are all part of a monumental annual effort to raise funds in the hope of finding cures for cancer. Cancer is such a tricky bastard; it needs more than one cure. But the cures are possible; they can be found and it will take our concerted effort to find them.
I DJ’ed last night at The Velvet and put together a fun set full of mambos, tangos and sambas with a bit of jive and other things to spice it up. I wanted to wear something samba-worthy and remembered this top I picked up at The Dressing Room Blue. It was from Mimikri, so I dived into my Mimikri folder to find a silver skirt to wear with it – and adapting this skirt from the Adele dress worked perfectly.
I love putting together different sets that explore a mood or a beat and have a lot of fun spinning my songs on Monday nights. My long-time friend and former partner is the manager at The Velvet and has really brought a new spirit to the place. If you have not been there in awhile, you might want to try it again. The old “We are cooler than you,” vibe is long gone and there’s a friendly spirit that focuses on the sheer pleasure of sharing music. Wow, I can’t believe it’s been almost a week since my last post. How time flies when you’re stuck in a conference room in a hotel next to the San Francisco airport for 4.5 days. OK … maybe not. Even worse, the weather was dreary the entire time and even rained out the golf tournament, which was our one glimmer of fun all week. So as we all looked forlornly out the lobby window overlooking the SF Bay, I thought about warmer times and fun activities to be had there some other day.
I decided to do the opposite of Cajsa when picking up the Unedited Photo Challenge and do LOTS of color vs very limited range. I followed my usual habit of snorking off of Honour McMillan’s blog for a place to shoot onlocation. Have you been to the Starlust Gatcha Festival yet? It fills my melancholy longing for the Albero Gatcha festivals of yesteryear. In fact, while I was wandering around trying to find a location for a photo contest I was entering, I realized that all of AM Radio’s sims were gone now too. In a way, Second Life is like real life in a petrie dish, it reminds me that everything is mutable. I’ve gotta enjoy the awesome things while they last, because they will surely evaporate like The Quiet’s deep layers of snow. So I’m going to shower love upon this Gatcha festival (my poses, locket, and balloon come from there), because for now, Starlust endures!

While The Great SL Photo Hunt hurtles along, there happens to be another photo challenge that should be fun and interesting as well. Harlow Heslop has challenged folks to post raw, unedited shots. Since most of the time, all I do is crop photos, it was a relatively easy challenge. I had to refresh a few times to line shots up correctly within the frame I set the window, but other than that, it was mainly choosing a good windlight setting (Strawberry Singh’s Diamond) and policing my prims to make sure they looked good in the poses. Since I can upload directly from within SL into Flickr, it really was easy.
