…. What do you want to do.. sit around and be lazy all day?

BoHo HoBo - Mena Runway Show

BoHo HoBo presents Meena, a runway show and a new shop named Meena, is in honour of the founding member of RAWA, the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan which has been fighting for human rights, democracy and social justice in Afghanistan since 1971. All proceeds from the sales of both Meena, and BoHo HoBo go to RAWA in order to help fund schools, orphanages, clinics and income generating projects for Afghan people.

The style of clothes is ‘Afghanistan Bohemian’. It is a hybrid of traditional Afghan styles and western styles of clothes. Traditional afghan styles have a lot of variety due to the many ethnic groups represented in Afghanistan, as well as it’s historic place on the ancient silk road and the influences of the various cultures that have passed through this desert country. Tajik, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Kuchi nomad, Indian, Turkish and Persian styles are all influencing factors in the style of traditional Afghan clothes and as well in this collection of Afghanistan Bohemian wear.

Join us at the Fashion show….. at Meena.

The Vintage Fair Cometh

If you have been trapped under something heavy and unable to get to your computer today, you might not be aware that the Vintage Fair is rolling live on othe grid at 4pm SLT on the 11th of November.

I’ve only made a preliminary pass through with my blogger press pass but so far I’m giddy with the fun vintage and retro inspired pieces I’ve seen. I thought I’d roll out the ball with two dresses, one from Rag Dollz and one from Kouse’s Sanctum. I do like a fun party dress.

What’s great about the Vintage Fair is that due to how ENORMOUS IT IS there is likely to be something awesome for everyone, whether your thing is conservative 40s style or hot rockabilly bad girl, you can find new pieces for your look to be certain.

I’m also wearing a skin from the Vintage Fair called Dharma from Essences, lipstick from Rozena and some cute eyes also from Rozena called Afternoon Tea. I’m not an eye collector but I know some of you are!

1967

2

1967 was the prelude to the Summer of Love. Rolling Stone published its first issue. Ralph Nader came to the attention of the public with his book “Unsafe at any Speed” which launched consumer activism. Gas was 33 cents a gallon. Radio London started broadcasting. And Scott McKenzie sang “If you’re going to San Franciso,” the anthem calling youth to the Monterey Pop Festival. Resistance to the Vietnam War was growing and Muhammed Ali was stripped of his heavyweight boxing title for refusing induction into the army. The Beatles released Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart Clubs Band and the Magical Mystery Tour and Kurt Cobain was born. You can come to 1967 at The Velvet tonight from 7 to 9 SLT as Maht Wuyts continues his Rock per Annum tour of the last 52 years of music.

Inspired by the San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in your Hair) song, I decided to wear this Flower Children outfit from Gizza. You can find it at the Vintage Fair in two colors. This is the red one – as bright and vibrant as the music that played at the Monterey Pop Festival. The outfit includes the top, pants and the crocheted shrug and all have resize scripts to help you fit them.

Now let me show you the dining room…

nov08_003

As you can see, the house comes fully furnished. Here we have the dining room which as you can see includes a large table with ample room for your family and room for more when you entertain. Oh, you like my dress? This old thing? Why, thank you. I declare I like this dress so much it seems like I wear it every day. I recall there was this clothing fair and I picked it up there from, oh let me think, from, from Purple Moon Designs. Yes, that’s the name. Purple Moon Designs. You really must go! You think it has a vintage flair? Really? I think it’s very modern.

Why yes! That is a pipe organ. I think Poppa bought that while traveling in Eastern Europe between the wars. The Iraq Wars? No, I don’t recall any Iraq wars. Between the First and Second World Wars. What else could I have meant? The wine glass? I think there’s something about that glass. My sister might know, but she’s stepped out for the afternoon. Actually, I was hoping we could conclude this business before she returns. She’s quite attached to the old place.

It's Got To Be The Shoes…

I had to have the scale from Artilleri’s Fifty Linden Friday offering, because I’ve got a bathroom for the first time ever. So it just seemed like kismet that this item come along for my bathroom decor.

I am fairly sure, however, that it’s the shoes weighing me down today. I can’t weigh this much.

I’m wearing new heels from Kalnins and a slinky new dress from Haut.Monde. I was in a sleek kind of mood. Continue reading

The Sun & Stars in a Bottle

nov04_006

Saigye Lotus didn’t just put the world in a bottle with the necklace I highlighted yesterday. She gathered the sun and stars and bottled up their fire as well. This is another necklace with the amazing detail anyone with a passing acquaintance with Balderdash jewelry has come to expect. I am wearing it with a lovely striped sweater from Baiastice.

nov04_004

It’s a bit chilly, though, and luckily Baiastice released a poncho just this week. I tossed it on over my sweater and I am as snug as a bug in a rug. Probably more snug, since bugs in rugs can still get stepped on or zapped by insecticides.

Wednesday

I’m not a huge Halloween fan, first of all (RL reason) because it does not belong to the Italian tradition, so I don’t “feel” it at all, and then (SL reason) because, according to my taste, it brings too much orangeness into SL fashion. Also, I don’t need Halloween to wear a costume or to choose a dark/horror/spooky look in SL: I do that anytime I feel like it 😀
Halloween parties are cool, anyway, and it’s a shame I missed the one organized by Gidge and Cajsa: different time zones, you know^^

Ok, I don’t love Halloween, but I love the fact that lots of designers normally release new stuff (and gifts!) for this time of the year, thanks God not only orange and not only Halloween related, and one of those releases immediately caught my attention, since the moment I received the notecard.
I’m talking about the Wednesday outfit from SeVered GarDeN, inspired to Wednesday Addams (also “Hand” is part of the pack, even though you won’t see it in my pictures) and so damn awesome.

My doll

I have a thing for SeVered GarDeN: Berta Avro and BUBI Bolissima create some of the most interesting, beautiful, original, and high quality clothing I ever seen. It’s a mix of fantasy and modern fashion, it’s something really unique in the SL fashion universe and the Wednesday outfit is an example of what I’m saying.
Shoes, socks, the doll and, as I said, “Hand” are part of the outfit and all the sculpted prims come with a resize menu.
And, guess what? The price is really really really affordable, like everything at SeVered GarDeN.

More pictures and credits after the cut 😉

Fifty of Fifty

nov01_013

Eclectic Wingtips of Eclectic Apparel is having a super sale, putting half of her store on sale at half off. Yes, 50% of the items are 50% off.  Even better, there are a few 1 linden items such as this gorgeous little number to sweeten the pot. What I like best about Eclectic Apparel is that there are great basics, separates that can be combined and mixed and matched and build and extend your wardrobe. This is a stocker-upper sale.
