About Cajsa Lilliehook

Santino Rice's little ditty "It's only fashion" seems a perfect title for my little fashion blog as you and i know that fashion means the world to him. Co-founder of It's Only Fashion and Blogging Second Life.

Tweed: Fabrics of Fall

I miss Gidge, don’t you? She’s been offline a lot for a very good reason, all her energy going into making a baby so she’s sleeping and napping and sleeping some more. And that’s all good if it means a happy, healthy baby in April. But I still miss her and the blog really misses her posts. She’s so funny and so much fun to pal around with.

And you know she would come up with some clever title to highlight the name of the store for this gorgeous jacket/dress. It’s a lovely tweed with frog toggle closures running up the front. Other great details include the slightly puffed sleeves and cuffs. Though the skirt prim is not open in the front, making it a dress, not a jacket, I decided to squint and think of it as a jacket anyway and wore it with the great tweed pants from Zona Cero.

Houndstooth, Polka Dots and Tiger Stripes, Oh My!

Yes, you can wear Houdstooth, Polka Dots and Tiger Stripes together. It’s a question of scale and tone – not that the patterns conflict. They don’t because they are on the same scale and use the same color palette. When I saw the Houndstooth coat at Muism (which was 50% for their anniversary sale) I had to have it. Such retro chic and the classic lines are something a style icon like Jackie O might have worn over a black or white Oscar de la Renta shift dress. Audrey Hepburn would have worn it over black cigarette pants and a heavy knit sweater. Katherine Hepburn would have worn it over grey wool pants and a white man’s shirt.  I saw many outfits in my mind, but I wanted to push it a bit and go with prints. It was pure serendipity that I received a blogger pack from A-Bomb right when I was contemplating my options.

Between Oubliette & MoonSong

My friend Faery Sola who makes the best damn pants in Second Life opened her own sim named MoonSong this weekend with two stores, her Studio Sidhe (pronouced She if you’re wondering) and FlipSide. I went to the grand opening party which was a lot of fun and want to congratulate her on her beautiful sim. Now, her sim is next to another gorgeous sim, Oubliette, and between those two sims there is this lovely bridge and that’s where I happened to shoot my pictures for this outfit which is a mashup for Muism and Sn@tch. Please do explore these beautiful sims – where some of my favorite SL residents and designers can be found.

Menage a'trois

Now that I have your attention – I am referring to this menage made from Shiki Designs, Icing and SiniStyle that I am wearing today. It began when I put on the Tokyo Night Dress from Shiki Designs. It had a plain dark grey skirt with a cream underskirt and was perfectly cute, but not what I wanted.  It also had short sleeves. So…I kept the gorgeous top with the amazing knit texture and the fur trim and trolled my inventory for a skirt – finding this one as part of the Icing Curlicue ensemble.  I had just received the new Vogue that has a marvelous article about fur trim on sleeves and necklines and that made me think I should add sleeves – and still keep the fur on the upper arms. Digging a little deeper in my inventory, I found the Lilith sleeves from SiniStyle – just sleeves…but really cool ones, don’t you think?

The Best of Second Life

Chryselda - a gown by Shai Delacroix of Casa del Shai

There’s nothing more amazing, thrilling and exciting about Second Life than the way folks pull together to help others. Whether on the small scale like with a microproject like the Have a Heart Campaign or the massive fundraising juggernaut of the Relay For Life, Second Life residents have stepped up to help time and again. Some of that is the way it fosters international connections. When some disaster happens on the opposite side of the globe, we know people who are there and affected by it. From brushfires to earthquakes to typhoons, SL residents have each other’s backs.  I received a message from Shai Delacroix that she had set up a Red Cross donation box at her store for relief for the people displaced by the flooding from the typhoon this weekend. I popped over to make a donation and a constant stream of people were coming in to do the same.

Shai is just one of many SL residents from the Phillipines whose friends and family are affected by this typhoon. She spents hours standing by the donation box last night so she could personally thank people.  She is also donating 50% of her sales to direct relief so you can dress up in beautiful gowns like the one I am wearing and also help the relief effort. We chatted for a bit and I wandered over to look for a gown to shoot for this blog post…so the fashion is after the cut.

Old Friends…New Ventures

This outfit actually highlights the work of two people whom I have known since my early days in SL two years ago who have struck out in new directions since then. The dress is made by Shinichi Mathy who was one of Maht’s first clients when we opened MDR in November 2007 – nearly two years ago. Back then he was modeling as was his business partner Jeckie Hax who was another of Maht’s clients. Now they own Shiki Designs and this dress is one of their stellar designs.  The skin is from Kira Paderborn whom I met two years ago as well after I was told I had a terrible shape. I felt discouraged, but Kira whipped me into shape (literally) in nothing flat. Her business, Shapes by Kira, is one of the most respected shape stores on the grid and is very popular. Now she is making skins and this is her second skin, called Eva and it’s just luscious. It’s great to see folks moving in new directions and developing such great skins and showing so much creativity. Now let me pull up my rocker so I can rock and say “I knew them when…”

Content Theft PSA – Keep Hope Alive

The Clara Bow Dress from Rebel Hope Designs

The Clara Bow Dress from Rebel Hope Designs

It was great seeing so many of you standing up against content theft with posts featuring some Rebel Hope Designs. It’s exciting to learn that Linden Lab acted quickly and effectively and have excluded the stolen content from SL. What that means is that when people who have the stolen content try to rez it, they cannot and they get a message the content is blacklisted.  You can read Rebel Hope’s statement on the SL Forums. Nonetheless, the scale of this theft and the assumption on the part of the thief that nothing would happen (an assumption fed by past events) and the development of even more effective theft technology has content creators concerned. They have started a the Step Up campaign and there will be a special edition of Fabulous Fashion TV on Monday that I encourage all of you to watch. If, like me, you will be at work then, you can watch it later on Itunes.   Please check the links and Angie Mornington’s blog for more info.

99

Every once in a while I take a peek to see how many posts Gidge and I have done using one designer or another. Some of course will be in nearly every post (eyes and eyelashes) and some may have been featured a few times only. I ran into Saschi Vixen at the Shape/Skin Expo and just for fun took a quick peek and saw that we had done Adam n Eve 98 times. We chatted for a while and then her partner dropped a pair of the new Yehaw boots on me and I know what would be in #99.  I told Saschi that we were 2 posts away from 100 and she said we ought to have a party. That may be fun, but I ran out of patience and decided to whoop it up with the kickass Yehaw boots and number 99.

The Stars Are Out

I am being a terrible blogger today and blogging a dress that I have no idea whatsoever about where/how I got it. If I were diligent, I would contact the creator and ask, but I know it’s a freebie because the box said Musashi-Do Freebie for Ladies 4.0. And so it’s from Musashi-Do where there’s been a lot of new releases happening lately.  I look a bit different because I am wearing my newest shape, Linna, that I made for the Skin/Shape Expo. I have a booth there with all my shapes – and 50% of all purchases of any of my shapes there will be donated to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
