Second Life has Black Swan events, but so does real life. Sadly, there’s no dancing, but there can be excitement. If you like history and philosophy, it’s an interesting idea. The name comes from the age-old assumption that all swans are white. All it took was one black bird (and allegedly a homely one at that) to disprove centuries of knowledge. In essence, the idea of a black swan event is that it points out how fragile our system of assumptions and knowledge are – sitting there waiting for some unpredictable black swan event to toss them in the air. What does this have to do with this dress? Well, I guess it’s the way the designer took our assumptions of the “black swan” and tossed them in the air to come up with a dress that breathes fire.

Bananas!
What happens when one of my favorite designers creates something that surely is inspired by one of my favorite artists? I go bananas. I even leave my red hair behind – though this shot shows the red style I would wear if I were not trying to sytle myself like the Adele Bloch painting.
And this is after I put on hair closer to Adele’s, the Retroesque updo from Ravenwear. Continue reading
What Is The Victory of a Cat On a Hot Tin Roof?
posted by Gidge Uriza
Cajsa came up with the theme for this hottie look when I was wanting to shoot some lingerie…the location inspired it I’m sure…..as this place seems about ready for the family to descend to wait for Big Daddy to die.
Wearing Simone!’s Hot Tin Roof Slip dress I escaped the family drama to cool off down by the river. After all, if I’m Maggie…..I’ve clearly got crazy family to escape. Continue reading
Brrrr
I woke up feeling chilled this morning and snuggled back under the covers for a couple hours before getting up and getting dressed in warm snuggly sweaterage. Here in SL, warm, snuggly sweaters seem in order, too and what could be snugglier than the Dita sweater from Persona?
Who's The Foxy Moron NOW?????

My friend Delilah loves to go to the reggae bars. She’s hunting that perfect rastafarian to help her find peace with the universe I think. I wanted to go out with her one night, I brought her to SL but like so many people you bring in world……she wandered off into her OWN new world and we don’t hang much. I wasn’t sure what to WEAR to a reggae bar. I mean, I haven’t been to one in world before.
I decided something colorful was in order and I hadn’t worn this pretty set from Foxy Moron yet. Continue reading
VaVaVelvety Leathers from Baiastice
Look how touchable and soft that little jacket is. It’s one of the appropriately named Sexy jackets from Baiastice made of rubbed leather, sueded to the point it seems more like velvet than leather. With it I am wearing a top from Pixel Dolls – Isolde, aptly named with its Arthurian chasing on the belting. Continue reading
The hazards of special events
Special events like the Passion of Black Swan exhibition carry me away and I do foolish things like fall in love with dresses that are not my style and leave me wondering, “but where will I wear this?” But what they hey, if we can dress outside our normal style in Second Life® then we never can, so here goes. This is the Haunted Zuzu Black Swan contribution and it’s a dress that appears to literally grow on you as it spreads its bodice over your torso like a spreading vine.
Who's Sari Now?
posted by Gidge Uriza
Cajsa posted a while back about the wonderful goodies that were free over at Yak and Yeti – and since I ALWAYS need more jewelry (duh You’ve MET ME RIGHT?) I went rushing over without an appreciation for HOW MUCH WAS FREE.
I walked a way with more sari’s and other traditional gear than my sherpa could carry, let me tell you. Continue reading
Simple Chic
It’s easy to pull together a simple, chic look in just a moment’s notice, just have a handy-dandy all-purpose high-waisted pencil skirt on hand. One in a neutral color will work with just about any blouse you care to throw at it. In this case, I didn’t go neutral as I have more than one of the super wonderful Little Rebel ruched pencil skirts. When I pulled out this pucci-pop top from Le Petite Fleur, I opted for the orange skirt.
It's practical, really!!!
Was it possible to go to the half-off sale @ Baiastice and not purchase at least one of the new outfits? Possibly, but too hard for me. However, I comfort myself by pointing out how essentially practical this delightful new dress is.
