Watercolors & Honeydews

One of the most adventurous designers in Second Life™ is AnaLee Balut of ALB Dream Fashion. Not only does she play with wild colors and prints, but she also experiments with the form of SL clothing – from making heavy sculptie coats and robes, to long flowing Empire waist dresses and everywhere in between. Her Lotta series of dresses are breathtakingly beautiful – each and every one. This is the honeydew print – that has the desaturated subtlety of a watercolor. There’s also an orange and a blue dress – and they are equally stunning.

Mix It Up

Every fashionista should have a few highwaisted skirts in her inventory and you can get great ones from many places including MichaMi, Pixel Dolls and literally dozens of stores. The reason to have them is that they are great to toss into the mix when you want to take a top from a dress, jacket or suit and use it in a new way. For example, this jacket from Silent Sparrow comes from an pants outfit and is part of a long jacket with tails. I wasn’t in the mood for tails, but I was just loving the autumn feel of the jacket – and decided it would be a blouse for the day…and all it took was adding a skirt that would tuck it in. And so was able to enjoy the rich texture and intricate details of this gorgeous top – in a new way.

Could it be Klee?

I love a nice print – and this gorgeous little dress from Abia Capalini Design is just exactly the sort of fun little print that makes my heart go pitter-patter. It reminds me of some Klee painting and I just love it. The shoes are favorites that you have seen many times, the Belles from Shiny Things.

Fueled by Fashion

Sometimes you see something on a wall at a store and you just have to have it. That was me when I saw this Silk Wings top from Baiastice. I love silk, I love gold, I love complicated collars and ties and if they aren’t squared off like a linebacker, I even love a constructed shoulder.  This is a home run on all counts. The night before I was in Uruzi – where you will find some of the best ethnic jewelry in Second Life, when I glanced at the clothing and saw some harem pants that actually looked good and the same thing happened. So, of course, they belong together.

Blowpop in Exile – With Pudding from Sascha's Designs

posted by Gidge Uriza

I shot so much when doing the shoot for this dress from Sascha’s Designs – that I forgot what it was I was highlighting. The dress? The hair? The skin?

I couldn’t decide – there fore this post must be about them all.

The gorgeous ballgown is yet another brilliant offering from Sascha’s Designs, replete with a host of skirt options, shawl, jacket and top options that make purchasing just one color of this dress an outfit for several nights over. I chose to show you this beautiful peach because I was in a fall mood – but it comes in a rainbow of jewel tones that I can’t say enough about.  They’re like candy.

As always the ballgown skirt option from Sascha has gorgeous movement – those of you who love the ballroom scene know how annoying it is to get a great big old gorgeous skirt that doesn’t move worth a damn-  obviously no issue here! Continue reading

Dressing for Rain That Isn't There, plus an Ode to Maitreya

We have an average of 150 rainy days a year where I live  and they are almost all consecutive. We have a sunny, dry season and a cloudy, wet season. As much as folks struggle to make four seasons,  it’s more like 2.5.  It’s not as bad as it sounds, though, since you can run around in the rain for two hours without getting wet. This is the perfect sort of outfit for the kind of rainy days we get. It acknowledges the weather without overreacting.  You want to look like you did check the weather in the morning and are not oblivious to the rain or the old folks on the bus will “tut tut.” What could be better than a lovely sweater dress with a thick enough knit to repel all the rain and some nice warm knit stockings to keep your tootsies toasty? When I saw this Ingrid dress at Lelutka I decided I want one in every color in RL. Now if only they were sold in Lindens.

Paeoti For Me, Please! Or – Another Celebration of My Cleavage

posted by Gidge Uriza

I got this gorgeous box of goodies dropped on me – and I first had to share with you this Paeoti – Malady Formal Gown. I swear I had to wear it JUST for an excuse to put on one of my Symphony Skins with the fantastic BUSTY option.

I mean. FOR REAL.

I’m all about my cleavage today – aren’t I? Continue reading

You're Just Jealous of My Sn@tch

posted by Gidge Uriza
HI! Memba Me? Well I’m back, and while trying to figure out WHAT to start with I reached for a review item dropped on my by one of my favorite clothiers Ivey Deschanel – from SN@TCH. I was in a casual mood as I convalesced and the JUST JEALOUS top and capris fit the bill for what I wanted to wear.

In this case, I think it’s the CLEAVAGE she’s referring to. 🙂 Continue reading

G-L-O-R-I-A, Gloria!

The new Gloria dress from Chantkare is a lovely lacy confection with a big full skirt and a wide waist sash, but it was too romantic for my  mood for when I put it on, so I took off the skirt and switched in the sleek and sexy Pixel Dolls High Button Miniskirt instead.  The blouse is the sort that puts the va in va-va-voom but  I wanted something to wear with the new buckle wedge from Anexx. Something edgy, not romantic. Switching skirts gave the top a whole new direction.

Quick Look: Chantkare

Applonia Criss dropped a few items my way a couple weeks ago, including this lovely day dress (Kim) that is elevated from casual to chic with some clever embellishments on the neckline.  It’s a lovely mauve color – a great fall color that’s less ubiquitous in fall designs. In this shot, you can also get a good look at the fabulous new hair from Exile – Juliette. Exile has new textures that are even better than before, so it’s an exciting time for those of us who love Kavar Cleanslate’s innovation and experimentation with style and movement in hair.
