Drama

apr25_003

I love fashion drama – when it’s the drama of bold colors, flowing fabrics and the sheen of heavy charmeuse. Mami Jewell is one of the most dramatic creators with her rich formal gowns that explode with drama.

There’s enough drama in this skirt to fuel a daytime soap opera.

Celebrating Talent

mar11_009

Fashion For Life brings together the best talents in Second Life to raise money for cancer research – something that benefits us all since it’s a rare person whose life is untouched by this cruel disease. LeeZu Baxter of the eponymous LeeZu! is known for her fashion forward designs that combine innovative sculpts and rich textures into fashion fabulosity. Something about her that is less well-known is that she shares her incredible talent through a series of tutorials which are all gathered in one site with the easy-to-remember name LeeZu! Tutorials. As you can see from this dress, that’s learning from the best.

I shot the photos at the Monastery of St. Michael the Archangel. This is a place I found thanks to the amazing photography of Domitalia Jinx whose photosteam is dangerous. If you go there, you will be trapped there for however long it takes you to look through her amazing images.

Dragonfly

jan09_004

I felt like exploring a bit yesterday and opened the Destination Guide to see what might be new to me. Right there on the front page was a link to Dragonfly, a lovely, magical sim full of flowers and beauty.

Some of that beauty came in the form of shoes, beautiful new shoes from Baistice. Beautiful new shoe with dots!

Monday Blues – BEGONE

posted by Gidge

Due to the fact that it is RL Monday and I must go out and face the world and the fates that await me, I’ve determined that PIXEL GIDGE is having none of it. Nope. Pixel Gidge is spending today lounging about in lingerie, doing homeopathic face masks and drinking martinis. She might even read.

Yes, she can read. Continue reading

Jewelry Fair Favorites: Kunglers

oct07_003

I have been sort of disconnected lately what with so many First Life distractions, that the first I realized that Jewelry Fair was on its way was when I received the new releases from Kunglers Extra. And wow oh wow oh wow! I loved the Orquidea sets they made earlier but they outdid themselves with the new colors including this fabulous gold set that is a perfect addition to wear with the gorgeous Dana dress from Baiastice’s Fall Collection.

Heaven Lake

aug13_003.jpg

I am wearing another of the wonderful new gowns from Micah Kanto’s recent collection for Modern Gypsy. Femme de Magnifica has a luscious sculpted skirt with a fabulous belt. It’s nearly nude beige and gold tones give it a subtly sexy look.  After seeing Heaven Lake in a recent post by Randi Lenroy, I thought it might be a great setting to show off the dress.

By the Shores of Gitche Gumee

Aug03_005.jpg

When I went to Grey Havens, I was reminded of the magnificent North Shore of Lake Superior – a favorite family vacation place. We always did at least one trip up the North Shore each year. Gitche Gumee was how Longfellow spelled Gichigami, the Ojibwe phrase for “Big Water.”  Having spent time on a research ship counting June Bugs and small fry on Lake Superior, I can tell you it is definitely Big Water.  I decided to go the Grey Havens to shoot the Isabella dress from ORTA because the fabric made me think of the North Shore’s Norway Pine & Blue Spruce and the granite shoreline.

Although it makes me think of Lake Superior, Grey Havens has sea lions and whales so that’s saltwater, not freshwater, alas!  By the way, is it TMI to share that Mom had the Song of Hiawatha memorized and always recited big chunks of it while we drove up the North Shore to Grand Portage? Thankfully she never went through the entire poem in one sitting. I think that would take hours. Mom knew 100 or more poems by heart and made all of her kids memorize one poem a week.  My siblings are a generation older than me, and this ritual is one of the few things we have in common. Of course, she never made us memorize Song of Hiawatha as that is just ridiculous.
