Gizza has released a fun new dress that is totally Rock & Roll. Now if I could purchase some musical talent. And if that musical talent was half as hot as this Starlight dress, I might make the Cover of the Rolling Stone.

Musical Sunday
I have prepped my set for this morning, Jazz brought to you by the letter J at The Velvet from 9 to 11 AM. Yes, I am that silly person who will fill a two hour set of music with John Coltrane, Illinois Jacquet, Etta James and J.J. Johnson just because their first or last names start with J. Still, it’s a great set of classic jazz by fabulous artists and who knew there were so many Js? I will be wearing this fabulous gown from Kunglers that makes me feel like a jazz chanteuse with its slinky, glittery shapely style. It comes in several colors with different textures for the skirt from this light-hearted green with the circles to a wild red print, purple stripes and some much more restrained art deco gold, silver and black.
This afternoon and evening feature a great musical event. I will have to miss some of it for real life company, but it should be great fun. If you’re online this afternoon, you should definitely check it out – and discover new clubs.

Pink Outfitters released a fun Fawkes Fur jacket for faMESHed. In black, red and grey, it’s ready to top just about anything.

A Good Day for Tweed
Today is a good day for tweed. The sun is shining and it is colder than usual. There is enough wind to make the cold work its way to your bones if you are not dressed for the weather. But put on some nice wool tweeds and you will be impervious to the wind and ready for anything. When the tweeds look as good as these, you will be more than ready. Continue reading
It was a casual Sunday
Sunday was a casual day for me – at least at first. It opened with my morning set at The Velvet. Two hours of jazz from old and new greats such as Stan Getz and Sonny Williams to Andy Sheppard. I love my Sunday morning sets because they start the day off right. However, I then was asked if I would DJ a gallery opening for Stephen Venkman’s new show at Patron. I didn’t have any pressing plans that could not be delayed, so I agreed and am so glad I did. The artwork was amazing and it was fun to pull together a photo-centric set together.
Deep within the corners of my mind

I wish I could do justice to this fabulous jacket from erratic. What you cannot see is the leather detailing that begins below the breasts and continues to the hem with rows of leather piping. It’s a stunning and ultra modern jacket. It comes in several colors.
Deep within the corners of my mind
I keep a memory of your face
And I only pull it out
When I long for your embrace
Deep within the corners of my mind
I’m haunted by your smile
As it promises me joy
Like a journey to a tropic isle
Lazy Days
I am so in love with Hybie’s photo, I hallways don’t want to post and move it from the top of the page. I am lazy today and wanted to wear something comfy and cozy. This fun, loose and comfy top from NYU seems perfect for the day curling up with Anti-Fragile, my current read while marrow bones simmer away, making a rich broth for some risotto. My cat is on my shoulder while I read and I am sure he must have an opinion on the state of the world.
I have an opinion on this top. I love its details that elevate it beyond the t-shirt that it first appears to be. Notice the high cut arm holes, the neat edging on the sleeves and the gorgeous button-down back and lovely sweeping curve of the hem. This is casual, but also chic.
Reflections, Not Resolutions

Chic is the word for this Drift jacket. You can see its lineage in the glorious history of Chanel with its short-cropped waist, it’s beautifully tailored fit and the rich wool fabric. The skirt, from CIA Designs, is beautifully made. With its relatively high waist, it will work well with all sorts of tops and jackets. For the With Love Hunt, it is only 10L and comes in red, brown and blue. It is one of the can’t miss hunt items. Make yourself comfortable and you should find it.
New Year’s Eve has never been a big holiday in my family. Most of the day was spent cleaning and preparing for New Year’s Day which was much more important. We always had a sparkling clean house and a feast on New Year’s, honoring a folk tradition that what you experience on New Year’s Day is the harbinger of the coming year. Well, one thing you would not want on New Year’s Day is a hangover! We didn’t make resolutions either. This was probably more the influence of my mother more than any tradition. She always said that if you plan to do something, just do it. If it’s important enough to do, it’s too important to delay until the new year. What we did do, though, is look back at the year and appreciate our good fortune.
Those traditions continue. I have been cleaning today. I am having a New Year’s dinner party tomorrow. And I have been looking back at 2012 and appreciating my good fortune.
If It’s Sunday, It Must Be Jazz
I play a classic jazz set every Sunday morning from 9 to 11 AM SLT at The Velvet. Usually I focus on the oldies from Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, Zoot Sims, John Coltrane and many others. I have a strong preference for the old jazz greats but the old jazz forms are still powerful influences on today’s jazz. With the year end upon us, I am doing a special set looking back at the fine jazz of 2012. I hope you can swing by.
Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice has created a fabulous dress perfect for any jazz chanteuse. I wish I could sing well enough to be a chanteuse of anything. However, I am perfectly dressed to sing. The heavy silk charmeuse drapes as beautifully as a caress.
Hearts and Flowers on Marketplace
I seldom shop on Marketplace. There’s several reasons for this. First, let’s just admit that Marketplace search is close to worthless thanks to the proliferation of deceptive sellers who pad their listings and keywords with fraudulent and deceptive descriptions in order to show up in more search results. They go on my list of stores I will never buy anything from because I am not going to reward liars. I also prefer to buy directly from the in-world store to support the existence of stores and sims. I am sad to see more and more stores opt to sell only on Marketplace, saving the cost of tier. I don’t blame them, but it makes our world smaller and less colorful as more stores decide to close their in-world doors. Of course, the main reason is the enjoyment of shopping with friends. Marketplace shopping is a solitary experience while in-world shopping is social. You can run into people you have not seen in ages, meet new people and experience much more of the social part of Second Life than you can on Marketplace.
However, I do browse Marketplace sometimes, looking for new stores. More specifically, looking for new-to-me stores. I was browsing the other day and came across new-to-me Paisley Daisy where I picked up this fabulous sheer mesh dress. Sheer mesh is going to require a bit of shape editing since it comes without an alpha. Well, technically, the creator Joeylin did provide a mesh, but it would look silly to wear it. I had to edit just a bit around the waist and upper thighs, but once that was done, the dress fit fabulously. Of course, with a sheer gown there’s the issue of lingerie, but I long ago made some very basic system lingerie that I could tint to my skin color to wear with clothing that reveals more than I want it to.
