Lady Chivalry Just Needed Hair Bows

posted by Gidge Uriza

Micah Kanto of Modern Gypsy was good enough to give me his gorgeous Lady Chivalry sheath dress for blogging but I’ve been sitting on it for a while.  I just wanted something for it and couldn’t put my finger on it. I didn’t like any of the hair I was trying on and a dress this simple and elegant had to have the right touch. Continue reading

Mix N Match Fun:Inspired by Fun New Hair from Simply Britnee

posted by Gidge Uriza

I got this fun new hair from Simply Britnee – Bday 2 – and after trying on every single colour I was feeling the brunette within me. Plus, I had this sudden urge to dig in my inventory and see what shook out.

I AM Able To Wear These Boots Clothed, Also

The high waisted skirt from Luck Inc put me in a piratey sort of mind and it was a short walk to a piece from Indyra Originals – part of her Armada outfit. I just needed the blouse.  I was going to wear the jacket but I was in more a poofy shirt kind of place. Continue reading

Put on those dancing shoes

Oh yes! This dress from MiaMai is made for clubbing and if only I had not laid down at noon and slept the entire day away yesterday, I would have worn it to the Velvet for Maht’s sure-to-have-been fabulous music set. I know it must have been fabulous because I slept through it and missed the entire set. This fever I have had this past week has really kicked my ass. But I am finally starting to feel better and so I was able to snap a few photos last night.

Heidi Is Wrong

I know I have been a lazy  blogger this week. I’ve been sick and logged in yesterday for the first time since last Tuesday. I snapped a few pics of this outfit I put on Monday night and shopped a bit and that’s about it.  I wish I felt as good as this outfit looks. I am combining some pieces from Ingenue and StoRin two stores with very complementary aesthetics and design interests. Both Betty Doyle of Ingenue and Annah Whitfield of Storin have a strong dedication to producing classics that will stay in fashion for a lifetime. You see, Heidi is wrong when she says “one day you are in and the next day you are out” because if you’re a classic, you may not be “in” but you are never “out.”

Redhead Ballerina

posted by Gidge Uriza

I was feeling like a redhead today, and this ballet gear + the red hair put me in mind of someone I used to know……so……

I have a story to tell you. When I started on the grid, it was basically in a very small group of mommy bloggers – one of whom owned an island. One of them – after some time passed, apparently went a bit batty and joined a ballet troup – declaring to everyone that “she was respectable now.”  And had all her AO and Dance huds switched to ballet poses and went about in ballerina gear 24/7.

Apparently, ballerinas don’t sin. Continue reading

What To Wear To a Theme Party?

posted by Gidge Uriza

Our second computer is fritzed, so I couldn’t bring Silo along as my date for the Second Style Sim opening theme party which was replete with gorgeous couples in costumes of famous lovers.

But I needed to go, even just for a while. I was not only excited about the Sim opening but you know, I WORK FOR THEM, so it would’ve been really inappropriate to miss – but – WHAT TO FLIPPING WEAR? Continue reading

Indiscreet

This June gown from Entre Mares is indiscreet. Very indiscreet!

I have to confess to a bit of photo manipulation here just to keep my photo in the “safe” category for the Flickr censors. They are so frightened by nipples that one of their censors made my entire account moderate because of nipple shadow in a swimsuit – not exposure, but that bit of shadow painted on by the designer to simulate fabric covering nipples. The other so-called indecent photo was a low cut dress.  In order to avoid another hoohah with another 30 some emails and appeals etc. with Flickr, I obscured just a bit of exposure on the bodice of this dress. Of course, that indiscreet glimpse among the curlicues of the bodice lace is the point – really – and covering it is not truly in the spirit of the design. It’s just that after the fight I had with Flickr, I am a bit paranoid.

What's in a name?

Juliet says, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Well, that’s true, certainly, as far as roses go. But if you were offered sight unseen to sniff a rose or a skunkweed, which would you choose? Names carry social and cultural cues which is why there’s so many ridiculous names of heroes in historical romance novels and why few people today name their daughter Ethel or Velma.  So, I am wondering why this sexy little mini-dress is named Clyde?  Sometimes I am curious how things get named. Perhaps it’s after the  Clyde Barrow, the romanticized bank robber of Bonnie & Clyde? Well, I don’t have to know to wear it and that which we call Clyde by any other name would look as sexy.

A 21st Century Tartan

Iota Ultsch of Tres Jolie sent out a lovely group gift for Valentine’s Day – this red tartan dress. I wore this dancing yesterday and it  was a lovely dress for dancing – the sculptie skirt being full enough that it never got wonky. It’s a see to believe kind of dress with a semi-sheer almost glassine texture that is a very contemporary almost industrial plaid. She also makes it in other colors on sale in her store. I love the way she creates textures from unusual sources. For example, her city grid dress texture is made from a photo of tire tracks on a sidewalk.
